I've seen Mastodon live 3 times now and every show they just came out, did their set, and walked out. Very little interaction with the crowd, just doing a job.
I saw them once with Opeth and Ghost for the Hunter/ Heritage tour and Mikael's banter between songs was such a stark difference. Plus Ghost had such a cool stage show. Made Mastodon look like a bunch of chumps.

I know a few people who've hung out with them after the show, though, and it seems like they're pretty jovial once you get a few beers in them. Happy to chat with fans about whatever in the alley behind the venues and such.
It's a little cleaner than I like my drone to sound and less dynamic than I like my post-metal, but there are worse ways to spend 13 minutes.
I gotta say it was worth putting a Stars of the lid record on pause to give this a listen but it sounded like promising demo, if anything? I get the impression this is made by people with a lot of potential but they haven't learned to fully utilize that potential yet. The girl on vocals had some rightous pipes, and I like how they managed to make one track out of 3 very different passages. Would certainly like to hear some menacing, Jarboe-ish, stuff out of these guys in a year or two!

Yeah, I just meant that it kinda sounds like the sort of metal sub-genres people make up just for funsies, for the sheer absurdity.
Look it's not my fault you're too orthodox for my blackened coldwave torture grind.
... see ... now that's really fucked up to do to a guy @LoveIsUnity ... you went and did too good of a job and I am filled with the desire to actually listen to that right now ...
Oh me oh my. Ulcerate are touring round my parts in October. They'll be sharing a stage with Bell Witch, a slightly odd partner considering their differing approaches to metal, but consider me pleased as punch.
Eyehategod were super awesome. They're definitely way better live methinks.
Haven't listened very far yet, but it seems a goodie! Curiously downtempo compared to previous semi-grindish efforts tho, this is more "heavy metalcore" or something, only good! It's just nice to hear new material tbh.
There's seems to be something going in the UK -core music lately, and imo Pariso has been on the edge of that movement for years.
Grabbed the last Agrimonia record on vinyl yesterday. Soooo good. It's got a bit of everything- death, black, sludge, doom, post-, crust, but still feels totally cohesive and purposeful.

I was at this show. This is a good example.

Mostly newer stuff from the last few albums, though.
Didn't at all remember them having a song that was this fastpaced though

It's a hell of a thing. Enjoy!
the only difference in the 18 or so song setlist was they swapped out Divinations and Blood & Thunder for The Czar
all the rest was the same
at least throw in a rarity or something
Ouch, that was not a good trade.
It's free and worth a listen if the doom/drone/post-metal thing appeals: https://withoutdoom.bandcamp.com/releases

Now, if I could just filter by "sounds like: Depeche Mode" we'd be all set.

I've never liked Foo Fighters all that much, but his work on Them Crooked Vultures was pretty epic.
Plus he played Satan for Tenacious D which would be anyone's high water mark.
it was a lot of people's one concert this year
i wouldn't have gone if you paid me
