Upcoming Patch Notes:
New Map

* A brand new awesome city map has been added called New Pork…and it’s free!

Game System Tweaks

* The host’s ability to kick and ban players has been removed.
* The ability for players to switch teams post-game is now restricted so that sides cannot be unbalanced by more than 2 players.
* A new switching team system has been implemented during matches:

* If there is a deficit of 2 players between teams, the weaker team will drop a team colored ball on the death of a player.
* Picking up the colored ball switches a player’s team and rewards them with a 300 point bonus.
* So…get the ball.
* The 10 game average ranking system has been removed.
* A new ranking system has been implemented, which adds rank points for every game based on the player’s score.
* Awarded ranking titles will now never go down once earned.
* Online leaderboards have been increased to display all players not just the top 1000.
* All online leaderboards are to be reset shortly after patch 1.03 is released, but all unlocked customizations and trophies will remain unlocked. You will not lose them.

Main Bug Fixes

* The Princess disappearing bug has been fixed.
* The issue with statistics and trophies not saving correctly has been fixed.

Character Balancing

* The Dark Priest’s lock-on range has been reduced.
* The Dark Priest’s drain ability has been slightly reduced.
* The Ranger now has larger movement penalty when locked on and charging attacks.
* The Adv. Ranger has a smaller shot dispersion and increased damage per shot.
* The Warrior’s attack damage has been increased slightly.
* The Warrior’s movement speed has been increased slightly when locked on and charging attacks.
* The Warrior’s 360 degree protect when his shield is raised has been increased from 20% to 40%
* Warrior’s Lock on range increased to match Ranger to stop class being hit from behind when retreating
* Warriors weapon collision box increased in size to aid with hit detection
* Adv Warrior speed increased slightly when locked on and charging to match his normal movement speed
* Adv Warrior damage increased
* Adv Worker’s bomb knockback force removed
* Princess calorie burn decreased slightly in weight state 3 and 4

Control Tweaks

* Two new control schemes have been implemented to allow players to use the R1 button to attack and to free the player’s right hand for target switching. This is AWESOME.

Scoring Updates

* New switching team bonus added of 300 points.
* Princess rescue score increased to 300 points.
* Princess rescue assistance bonus increased to 150 points.
* Princess escort bonus increased to 75 points.
* Win game scoring reduced to 150 points.
* Match completion bonus added of 75 points.
* Average Rank bonus award removed for games won under 3 minutes.
* Bonus score for winning games in under 3 minutes removed.

Additional Tweaks

* Candy confetti added as a special effect when blood is turned off. Check this out – it is really cool.
* All loading screens now in color.
* Loading screens now allow players to scroll to next and previous tips during the load.
Thanks to LCDXX for the heads-up :^:

GAMEPLAY

Fat Princess is a top-down arena-style multiplayer brawler that supports up to 32 players as well as bots for both online and offline play. There is also a full single-player story mode, but it's essentially just bot matches with story bookends (albeit a pretty well voiced little story that's worth going through at least once).

GAME MODES

The game contains 5 different gameplay modes, which are:
  • Rescue the Princess - CTF - Rescue your princess while keeping the enemy's princess hostage. This is the main gameplay mode of Fat Princess.
  • Snatch 'N Grab - CTF - First one to steal the other team's princess 3 times wins.
  • Team Deathmatch - First one to deplete the enemy's reinforcements wins.
  • Invasion - Territories-style gameplay - Control more towers than the enemy to deplete their ticket count - first team to deplete the enemy's ticket count to zero wins.
  • Soccer (yes, soccer) - 10 minute period, team with the most goals wins. Everyone starts out as a civilian, and random class hats drop from the sky periodically.
Rounds last till one team completes the objective(s) or until time expires (then whichever team has the most points wins).

Fat Princess has elements of both Strategy and Brawler games, all covered with a delicious class-based frosting. The Strategy part of the game involves collecting resources from across the map (wood and metal), which allows you to upgrade your classes, build/repair your defenses and build siege weapons to assault the enemy's castle. Also there are towers scattered throughout the map that will supply a small of HP when entered, allow for faster resource collection, provide much needed cover when under attack and some even provide secret passageways into the enemy's castle!

ITEMS

There are additional items that can provide a strategic advantage in game as well.
  • Cake - can be used to fatten up your princess, making her harder to rescue (she loses the cake fat after a few minutes, so keep feeding her!). Found throughout the level.
  • Large Bombs - can be used to blow up the enemy's main gate or other structure, as well as cause massive casualties (careful, large bombs will kill friendlies as well). Found at the upgraded Worker's Hat Station.
  • Potion - can be used to turn everyone in an small area into a chicken for a short time! Will turn friendlies into chickens as well. Chickens only have one heart HP, but can still attack and sort of fly around. Found near the Mage Hat Station once it's upgraded.

So now that we know what you'll be doing, let's look at how you'll go about accomplishing your plump princess pilfering plan. Why, by choosing the right class of course! There are 6 classes total in the game, and each one has its own unique role in helping rescue your rotund royalty.

CLASSES

Classes are chosen in game by picking up any one of the 10 class hats (5 base and 5 upgraded) and putting it on. You'll find hats at designated hat stations within your base and the enemy's base, and scattered across the battlefield from fallen friends and foes. You can pick up any hat at any time and become that class, regardless of color (you always remain your team's color however), but your current hat will disappear upon class switch.
  • Villager - Base class (no hat)
  • Worker - Resource Gatherer and Bombardier
  • Ranger - Long Range Damage
  • Priest - Healer
  • Mage - Magic damage
  • Warrior - Melee Brawler
more detailed info coming soon!

Finally got this downloaded today and managed 20 minutes or so of single player. I love the sense of humor of the game thus far, and this looks like it'll be great online.

Please add me to the fat list o' names, I'll be looking for some online games within the next day or two. PSN ID is Ketar.

Does Ice and Fire stack? As in, if we had 2 mages, 1 fire and 1 ice. If the ice mage does the AOE ice ring, freezes everyone, and then the fire mage does his AOE to have people burn. Can icecubes burn on fire?

If so, seems like 2 mages, 2 priests and a ranger could walk into a bar and rape everything.

I think fire melts the ice. I know friendlies can free you with fire if you're trapped in ice, not sure about enemies though.

2 Mages, 2 Priests and just about ANYTHING will own. But yeah, especially with the Ranger.

oh a tip while i am remembering it.

Ice mages, you can put out bomb fuses with your ice magic along with lighting it with the fire.

Someone trying to bomb your door? Keep putting it out with the ice and watch them get fustrated.

Or light it before they get there!

I didn't know about the ice putting it out, that's pretty cool.

So, again, question regarding the EU/US versions since the other thread got locked:

I am from Israel. I get better pings with EU servers in general. However, I only have a US PS store user with funds loaded to it, and I don't want to start a new user in the EU store if I don't have to. Since the games are hosted locally (that is what I understood), it shouldn't matter where I buy the game from, right? But, if the US and EU versions get patched seperately, it also makes sense that buying the EU version would let me connect to people closer to me, no? I am confused!

I couldn't even find a contact email address to ask the guys at Titan this question, any chance one of you has an idea? Or better yet, maybe someone had some experience regarding this?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate an answer. Can't wait to be playing this, just want to make sure I am getting the right version.

Well, maybe we need to do a little test. Who here has the US version, who here has the EU version, make friends with each other and see if you can join each other games. That’s the first thing to come to mind to help answer your question.

I'd test this now, except for I'm at work. So maybe someone else can help you, or you can wait a bit and I can get back to you.

Got my Chubby Chaser trophy (20 captures and escorts) last night, finally. About 50 games away from winning 100.

Played against a particularly good ice mage the other night. He knew when to charge and release his AoE to keep most people pinned as his buddies charged ahead to take the princess away. Had most of us locked and the rangers/workers could barely get a hit on him with the one shot they had between freezes as the guy was jumping around and using stairs and walls to keep cover. None of the charges were full, either. They were always short half second bursts, very nicely timed and well done.

One way I've found to work around the targeting issue is to continue holding down the heal button, but just keep hitting L1 to retarget over and over till you hit the right target. Sometimes you have to retarget several times in order to hit the right person, or move away/towards your target to get the targeting to choose a new player. Not the best, and yes it's still wonky at times, but I've found it to be mostly effective for keeping as many teammates alive as possible. Or you can just use the area heal.

Also, Fat List updated. Go forth, find some friends and free those fatties!

Dumb Question Number 1: Do I need to spend 30 minutes adding each one of you to my PSN list tonight? Or is there an easier way?

Dumb Question Number the Second: Aside from the priest, can you lock-on with any other class? I really enjoyed playing the ranger, but it was always run a little, shoot a little. Same for the mage. Am I doing it wrong?

Just know that with the Mage/Priest classes, if you're charging a big AoE and hit L1 to lock on to someone, you will lose the charge from the AoE and charge up a fire/ice bolt or heal/drain from your target. If you let go of L1, you've lost the big charge you've been accumulating and start charging up from scratch.

As someone who is used to playing healer/facemelter and occasionally using the mage, it's a habit for me to L1 target and suddenly realize "Oh shit, oh shit, I've lost my fire/frost nova charge!" Kind of frustrating. :P

    Yes.

I have found that if you want to be a Pro Healer, you have to hold the controller in a funky way. Since Square is the button you use to heal, and L1 is to target. I hold the controller with my left hand the same, but with my right hand, I go fighter hand position. Instead of using my thumb to press square I use my forefinger or middle finger, to allow me to be able to keep my thumb or forefinger on the right analog. This allows me to keep a constant stream of heal going while flicking through targeted teammates. If I hold the controller normally, using my thumb to press square, then to flick the right analog, would mean I have to let up off healing to retarget.

Not sure why they went with Square as the attack button. It should of just been R1, and if not, allow me to remap my controls (or is there an option for that which I missed?)

Nope they did the pre-set layout options for controls, none of them have attack on the shoulders. I don't get why game developers do that, is it that much easier to program?

That guy was a dick. The worst part was when no one would understand what he was doing and kept wasting our wood on rebuilding the doors when he just blew them up again.

I think there is a way for the host to kick someone seeing as how there is a report function. That is the biggest dick move I've heard of in a game ever though.

Also, I've accidentally blown up my own door trying to take down the ladders. Is there an easier way to do this?
