2 gigs a day is way more than any game is going to do. Hell more than 90% of browsing+gaming will do. Really only downloading something would hit that point.
That's what I thought. I figure either I have some sort of unknown process or it's on his family. This last week I have pulled 500 MB on a busy day. Otherwise, it's been even less than that.
But how am I going to explain that to him? I couldn't even explain to one of my customers that her trouble downloading a PDF wasn't because it was 2 MBs. People believe the stupidest shit.
Tell your roommate to lay off on the massive tranny porn torrents.

People cheat Ramadan pretty well, all waking up before sunrise for a big meal, and eating a feast as soon as the sun sets.
There is an art to cooking that feast and being unable to taste the food as you go along to make sure it's seasoned right.

If you don't have any consoles maybe stick a bandwidth monitor on whatever machine you use most?
fuck. I just got a call from my landlord letting me know that, even while I've seriously minimized my bandwidth usage, we're still averaging about 2 Gigs a day, and he wants to talk about our gaming habits and how they might be contributing. How much could a couple hours of gaming even do? Hell, I rarely even do that anymore.
Why does your landlord have anything to do with your internet usage?
O_o
Does he provide the internet? Cause that's pretty weird to me.
It happens in some places. It's not that strange, really. Inconvenient and difficult to deal with at times, though.

It was fine until the ISP imposed a cap.
I think it might be the sign that it's time for me to finally find a bigger apartment.

I'm averaging something like 17GB per day. I'm amazed I haven't been disconnected yet.

Yeah, unless you're hitting up crazy amounts of streamed video it's pretty tricky to hit that without downloading something, although it's pretty easy to lose track of downloading stuff from steam, and WOW is probably a good 20 gigs now.
I don't think I could live on 2 gigs a day, I think my morning GSL streams usually end up being about 3.5 gigs.
I should see how much a netflix stream is but really it doesn't seem that horrible I mean if they are anything like when I use to torrent shows in Japan, a standard 30 minute episode not in hd is about 150 mb. A movie of about 2 and a half hours was about 1 gig to 750 megs depending.

yeah, it's a pretty tight restriction for a family and an internet-obsessed nerd to handle.
Well, that cinches it. I don't think I can make the limits he needs. It's time for me to get my own place and pay for my own internet.

Yeah but I reckon most people don't give a shit. In the grand scheme of their life they don't really need to know, like everyone doesn't need to know how a car works.

Actually people tend to start with something small at sunset (a couple dates, some water or milk), then a small meal later in the night and maybe a small meal right before bed. The big meal is usually the one before sunrise, like you'd mentioned. Ramadan dishes, outside of the ones on Eid ul-Adha at the end of Ramadan, tend to be extremely simple and common foods, so they're easy to cook without sampling them. There are also several, like dal and other lentil dishes, which you start before sunrise so you set the seasoning then, and let it cook all day.
I tend to stream as a way to keep my adhd down. Having netflix on the ps3 now will probably make me worse. Though I am nothing compared to what I was in Japan since to get any of my tv shows I had to torrent them. That adds up pretty quickly but I had an awesome connection. No top limit, 100 mbs up and down for 60 a month.

The iranians I knew loved making some mighty meals for their evening feasts. Maybe it is not a hard and fast rule, but I loved their rive and potatoes.

The nice thing is, if I get my own place, I won't go with the ISP that caps. GCI is the company my landlord is using, because they also provide cable, but I could just go with ACS and they don't impose a limit.

The thing with most Middle Eastern cooking is that the seasoning is relatively simple. Lots of spices and herbs, but in fairly regulated proportions. When you grow up seasoning all deserts one way, all finger-foods another, all meats another, it's easy to make them without sampling them.
Also entirely possible that granny has diabetes and can't fast anyway, so she just sampled while cooking.

I could not imagine gaming taking up 2 gigs of bandwith. I mean I know shit about that, but that seems ridiculous.

No. I typically stream about 30 minutes off Netflix, though. On a busy day I might stream about 2 hours, but that's the exception.
Have you read the comics?

shit, that might be it. I didn't expect it to be so much.
That and often times ISPs only count downloading towards bandwidth and not upload, which is what online gaming leans on.

the only time I go over a couple hundred megs a day is when there's a new version of Xcode or the iOS SDK

Netflix can go up to 2G per hour.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
yeah, up to trade 5
At SD it's a little under a gig an hour. At HD it's closer to 2.

trades are collected sets of usually a year's worth of that comic's issue
the reason I don't use the word "volume" is is that they've issued volume sets of TWD already
ed: but yes, it should be volume 5, if you're talking about the thin paperbacks sets of 12 issues
eenteresting
video is bandwidth intensive, is the take home message
How can/do you find that out?
