I mean if it's at crazy Halo 2 levels I can understand but this game isn't anywhere close to that
I have to agree. There's a slight bullshit factor with the Xray vision it grants through cover... but that works in your favor. And since quickscoping is gone, I don't see it being a problem.
At least, I've never played the game and said "dammit, I wish it didn't have aim assist!"
Just rocked the L96 for a few games. There's something about the tension and release of zoom in-wait for sway-hold breath-fire that makes sniping really addictive.
Welcome. Stay a while.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

We always turned it off in Goldeneye and Perfect Dark and TimeSplitters and Halo and Counter Strike and the Specialists and and and
I didn't realize anyone used it. I guess everyone does? Black Ops is the first online fps I have played since Halo 2.

Pretty much, yeah. I'd prefer it if they removed the option, but if you're the only one with it turned off you're likely putting yourself at a disadvantage (although I still turn it off when I'm sniping because I hate when it drags me off target when someone else runs past my scope).
I have had it cause problems, but they're far outweighed by the benefits.
One example is burst firing at someone a bit farther way (but still in AA range), then someone else runs across in front of me which pulls my aim after them slightly instead. Granted, this happens pretty rarely.

Socom 2 didn't have aim assist. It was perfectly playable. In fact, it is my favourite online shooter of all time. It's an absolute myth that you need aim assist to do well with a controller.
The X-Ray vision it grants is the biggest problem. It works through walls, around corners, outside of LOS, etc. It's really bullshit when you've setup to ambush someone you know is coming, but aim assist kicks in and gives away your position. I'd be totally okay with it if it only activated when there is LOS, but to be honest, I'd be a lot happier if they just did away with it entirely.

I would say about once an evening I will have a situation where one guy comes around a corner I pull up and start to fire and as the first hit marker registers his buddy comes along and auto aim pulls me off target and I therefore die a lead enduced death. I rage for a moment and then remember I would probably miss all the damn time without it and move on with my day.
So I unlocked the AK47 last night. Thoughts on attachments? I have Warlord Pro.
Also, MTDM is a whole freaking new world. Holy crap is it great. I still love domination because of the chaos, but I see the appeal of MTDM. It is my new default.
AK47? Silencer and exmags, or just exmags with slight of hand or steady aim in the 2nd perk slot. It doesn't need a red-dot really; I have a harder time using it with a RDS or reflex for some reason.

I'd say grab up a sight of your choosing. Personally, I think the AK irons are downright awful.

That's because aimbots dont work well with RDS and reflex.

Yeah, it throws off my bot's sensors. 'Tis a bitch, but I gotta do what I gotta do to cheat my way to the top, Tridus.

I've never played any of the other games in this series, but were killstreaks always selected by account? I find myself wishing more and more that I could set them individually based on which class I am using.

Only this and MW2 had killstreaks you could choose. CoD4 and W@W only had 3 and they were the same for everybody.
No, they've never let you change them per-class for some reason that must make sense to somebody.

They allegedly experimented with this in testing for BLOPS I think and it (again) allegedly ended up being a boondoggle for whatever reason.
That's what they claimed at least. I would love that as a feature. I hope theater and emblems hang around in future iterations though.

I'd love the theater to stay, but emblems can go to be honest. For some reason I had a much more entertaining time doing Challenge X for emblem/background Y.
On the topic of conc grenades earlier, they can kill someone at full health in hardcore if they get too close before it goes off. I've done it/had it happen a lot yesterday.
I hope they stick with custom emblems, but bring back challenge-based titles/backgrounds. Then I might actually try some of them and not just the blowing up cars/jumping through windows stuff.
So, one of my friends recently purchased a GIGANTIC 64" plasma TV. It's fucking awesome - no phosphor lag, no input delay, nothing.
And it is 3D.
Playing Blops in 3D on such a huge screen is a mindblowing experience. It's interesting that a lot of little details that get overlooked in 2D become apparent in 3D.
For example - my friends and I were having trouble ADSing with guns, until we realized that we had to close one eye while aiming to make it more accurate. Also, that the red-dot sights work EXACTLY like real-life holographic sights, in that the dot is drawn on the same plane as your target, making it possible to aim accurately with both eyes open.
Well I haven't played this in a while but when I was messing around in multi I had no idea that your auto-aim settings are client side... I figured it would disable it in multi player. Now it all kind of makes sense. I wasn't horrible at all, actually I did half way decent but with auto-aim I imagine it's quite a bit different. I'm gonna have to try it now. lol
I turn it off in single player because in the past auto aim was so bad on fps on consoles that it would interfere with who I was aiming at. I'd aim at a group of guys and it would always 'snap' to the dude I didn't want to kill first, etc. So I've always made a habit of turning it off... Lesson learned I suppose.

Damn all-text communication and its shortcomings
So despite me saying that I was going to stay at 12th prestige, fuck that, I want my gold SPAS.
Who saw this coming? I want a show of hands.
Dude even I knew this was going to happen.
It may be simpler if we asked who didn't see it coming.
In a week, Scat will be bitching about how he should never have prestiged past 12 and how his icon is incredibly ugly.
In fact he's probably already doing it.
GOLDEN.
SPAS-12.
Or Steakhouse. The shotgun shells on the side of the receiver also become solid gold. It's too garish not to love.
Plus, I want to troll the kiddies by being a legitimate 15th prestige.
