I found 26-27 to be a pretty big hump
Is your colleague raiding? Raiding = upgrade mats for the gear s/he's wearing so diligent raiding carries you up to 28.
Strikes and public events yield slower and less reliable upgrade mats.
yeah, upgrade mats are a big hump at first -- right around 25-27 you hit the point where you spent all your marks for gear and you pretty much just have to do the daily strike and public event to hope for upgrade shards. Then after a couple weeks you are swimming in marks so you can just buy stuff and disassemble it to get upgrade shards and you'll get a bunch from the raid and then all of a sudden you're 30 and you don't have any bars to fill anymore so you don't play Destiny for like a month.
newer games will intrinsically have more people playing them
the games you play at a certain younger age range will resonate with you more than others
older folks are auto-hipsters if they liked games when they were young
I actually disagree with this. Demon's Souls is probably my favorite action rpg ever. FO:NV and NWN2:MotP are up there for the best RPG I ever played. Skyrim is by far the best first person sandbox RPG I ever played. Crushes Morrowind. Valkyria Chronicles is probably my second favorite tactical RPG ever after FFT. I don't think its just about when you play games. I think its about the games themselves and what you look for from them.
I just started watching Vikings and they've got this word for their big council meeting. I assume it's supposed to be called The Thang, or The Thane, or something other than what it sounds like
because what it sounds like to me is The Thing
so anytime anyone mentions it, it's like "Yeah, we're going to the thing" or "Oh yeah, I saw you at the thing."
As if they were discussing a small party at a mutual friend's student apartment.
The idea that a bunch of vikings would refer to a grand meeting so very casually is cracking me up.

Pop open his profile and it's just half completed game upon half completed game. It was endless...
there's a lot of games to play in the world! i rarely grind out achievements especially anymore... at first it started as a joke to beat all my friends gamerscores but then... it just kept going
oddly enough the only people at all close to me are @emnmnme at 95k and my roommate who just eclipsed me
