anyway this animal argument is a classic example of the misuse of "villain" as a synonym for "antagonist"

What I'm learning from this thread is that a lot of people are sketchy on the meaning of iconic.

I'd argue it's more illustrative of people equating modern perspectives on animal thought with classical anthropomorphization, though they are not the same

A wolf would be an antagonist in a story now

Clasically, that motherfucker was a villain

When I was five, this wolf-like villain was basically a creature of my nightmares:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sEZmMeH96Q

He goes out like a punk, though.
Not to mention that he didn't even realize that the guy he'd been tracking for the whole story was sitting two feet in front of his face.

The title is asking for "of all time"

Expand your horizons to further back than the last two centuries, poll

Iconic is a subjective word that has almost no meaning nowadays. That's why Ubisoft uses it in all their press releases.

    I almost non-jokingly picked Sephiroth

That image of him in the fire is one of the most iconic video game things, at least

    But Maleficent though

I've never even seen Sleeping Beauty, but when I played Kingdom Hearts and was just told "she's the leader of all the Disney villains," I just thought "okay" and never questioned it because to me she has always been that iconic animated villain

    She just exudes that shit

    Refusal to empathize

    Apathy, maybe

    Boredom

An inability to convince oneself of meaning

A surfeit of connections whereby each individual loses significance

As the video shows, he's been hunting Atreyu but just had this long conversation with him and never realized it was him until Atreyu tells him.

Granted, he has apparently figured that Atreyu is already dead and he can just sit around and wait for the end of the world, but that's not being a good hired killer when you are literally told Atreyu is the only one who can stop the Nothing, and at the point that this conversation takes place there are only four beings left in existence: G'mork, Falcor, the Childlike Empress, and this random dude sitting in front of G'mork).

And G'mork already knows that Atreyu isn't the Childlike Empress or a Luck Dragon.

My buddy Justin brought Baba Yaga up but in the end we decided that she's not especially well known outside folklore fans or the Slavic areas of the world.

All I know about Baba Yaga is there's a Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC based around it that I haven't played yet
