Wait until you see Michonne when she gets angry...
I like zombies. I like funny books. This series is a natural fit for me, obviously. I like the fact that while shit sucks for the survivors, they actually have a chance at survival if they can keep their shit together. But yeah, Kirkman has some unresolved anger issues. People don't just die, they get fucked up in awful, awful ways. Nobody give him a hug, though. We don't need to have WD get all Carebear on us.
I was given the trades to read by someone from work, and I was blown away! The only zombie story I can think of that comes close to rivaling Walking Dead is Awakening by Nick Tapalansky and Alex Eckmann-Lawn. Between those two books, I don't think I will ever need another Zombie comic
Can't wait to get caught up on Walking Dead tho. The last trade I read was 6.

I just read the first 12 issues of TWD. I have never read any other comic book in my life. I'm totally hooked to it now and I'm going to try to get the rest tommorrow.
So, 100 Bullets and Y the Last Man are near finished and completed, respectively. I'm looking to start a new series, but I'm not sure if I should start Walking Dead or Ex Machina.
Anyone got any thoughts?

If you love stories about people, Walking Dead.
It was the fist comic that all most made me cry. It's that well written. And it hit me hard a few times.

If you go with The Walking Dead you will not regret it. I'm pretty hard to shock or be amazed at what comics do, but this is one book that tends to shock you in ways you never see coming or expect. Whatever you might expect this book will always find a way to defy your expectations.
I have to agree Walking Dead is good in the "it can continue forever and be the same amount of good" kind of way. Fables and Ex Machina have to end some time I can see Walking Dead continuing for a long long time.
I have not read Fables, though I hear good things.
I personally apreciate the slow pace and character-driven stories in the Walking Dead. I think often times ongoing series can devolve into formulaic and repetitive drivel sue to NOT stopping and taking the time to show the readers what the characters are doing, who they are becoming because of the trials they face. Walking Dead may be slow at times, but the characters are EXTREMELY well developed and deep for a book that's only 50 issues old.

This comic is going in some odd directions. I don't want to read a book about a boy fighting zombies.
Why not?
Also: What is with all the people that accuse Kirkman of being some sort of racist asshole? Seriously, there are some fucked up people who write letters to this guy. There's one in this issue where the guy is just going off about how there's no way a white person could be as tough as the characters he's depicting. Do these people writing the letters even realize how racist they're being? NEWS FLASH: Just because you're black - it doesn't mean you can't be a racist fuck.

Yeah the letters are hilarious
I probably wouldn't want to read it about the boy fighting off zombies because he has a huge head. Looks really weird.
Regarding the newest issue. A couple of questions:
After Michonne stabbed zombie-Tyreese's head who was the other guy who's head she chopped off? He looked a lot like Rick although it obviously wasn't him. Was it Hershel? Secondly, what was the deal with the axe not killing the zombie? That's always worked in the past. Are the zombies evolving or something? Finally, Rick alone in the bathroom. Did he find antibiotics or not? My understanding was that he found pain killers instead but I could be wrong. Though this could also explain his state at the end of the issue.

and both Tyreese and Michonne kick ass.
That is how I started out with TWD. That, and I have to give credit to Blaire Butler from G4 for opening my eyes to some comics, including TWD.

It's one comic you can read where no one is safe, anything can happen and some fucked up stuff happens. More often than not due to human nature.
How is it?
Quit lying
Ex Machina is leagues better than Walking Dead.
No ones opinion is wrong, your simply not right.
no he is actually right
fables is one of the best books out there and ex machina is pretty good too
walking dead is good, but not as good as thoughs
Nope, you're actually wrong. See what I did there?
LOL OPINIONS
edit: So how about that Walking Dead book? I hear there's zombies.
I think they've been in like 8 issues or so
