are you surmising that the problems will be much more difficult than the ones pictured, or something? even then, I have a hard time imagining arithmetic problems that would take me more than 12 seconds
it's either possible to do mentally, or it's functionally impossible to do mentally (or will take more than 30 seconds, at least) ... and the latter category seems pretty obvious (4502 / 824! go!)
I just don't see a lot of grey area, and 12 seconds per problem (there were 5 in the example, right?) seems fine
