DDO: Sort of free!

So DDO is now free to play. you can go to http://www.ddo.com/ to sign up for a free account and play.

-But Bucketman, you sexy devil, how free is it really?

You may ask. Well, theres 3 levels of service

Free: Its free. you get 2 character slots and can't make a Warforged or Drow characters and can't pick the Monk or Favored Soul classes unless you pay cash money for them. Also if the servers are full you get bottom priority.

Premium: You use to play or own the game already. Same as free but you get higher priority in the server line.

VIP: You pay monthly, $15 still. You get top server priority and you get all the quests and races/classes.

Now if you choose to be free you can still get extra quests and classes and races for what amounts to about $10 for a big pack of them. Also you get in game "Favor" rewards that give you some points to spend at the store to buy extra weapons, armor, potions, character slots, and the aformentioned quests and races/classes

Well there is sort of a level cap. See at certain levels, like 4, you need to get a thing called a sigil to go farther, these can either be gotten off rare monsters or via quests or just bought via the store. There pretty easy to get, but some people are lazy.

-I hear its all instanced quest dungeons. Is that true? Also do you like me [] y [] n?

Well yeah it is, but they actually vary in lengeth and content, and each has 4 difficulty settings, Solo for..well solo, normal for a group, Hard for better xp and rewards, and Elite for ever more xp and rewards!

Well DDO features Direct X 10 graphics if you have Vista or higher, and it looks pretty swell!

I'll post some screen shots later when I get a chance but we should all play!

So far all I've got is a Paladin on Sarlona. but if other people are on other servers we can do that too I guess.

I'm playin' in the current PA guild on Cannith and it's alright

It gets way better once you get off that fucking awful tutorial island God I was so sick of that place

It also gets better once you get in a group and start doing elite missions to get crazy magical items

I can certainly see why people would not want to pay monthly for this but for free it's pretty good!

I've got a lvl 7 Rogue Fighter on Khyber, but I'd be willing to play for a bit, maybe tomorrow or Friday.

Also the Premium Accounts get 4 Character Slots.

Also man they completely remade the starting area, it's pretty cool now.

Also I had a cake that summoned a djinn and wished for a localized ham storm. Not kidding, either.

I also rolled a lvl 2 Ranger named Smarth Ero on Khyber. I've got a retarded amount of platinum, too.

The new hireling system is nice too, I bought a heal-bot cleric that's actuall useful in combat, too.
