Would you like to be a moderator?

Tell us why! This isn't a recruitment thread, it's looking at the pool of interested parties. Please tell us the following

What forums you would want to moderate
Why you feel you would be suitable for the job
What hours you are typically on the forums
How enthusiastic you are about serving my every whim

Anyone can apply, but if you have a large number of infractions you may want to save yourself some time. "Large number" in this context means anything over 2 pages of infractions. If you feel you've reformed though go right ahead. This is a ONE TIME exception to my rule that if you express interest in being a moderator you are forever banned from being one. If you bother me about it outside of this thread you are still on the blacklist.

I like the idea of modding D&D or H/A if only because I understand how well they work and what makes them work. I also have no idea what my future hours may be when working under a pineapple field in Hawaii, though God knows I've found time while spending eight hours a day studying Chinese. But I think I'd be an alright mod if I don't spend all my time on the beach.

But I've also watched Thanatos moderate in action and man is that depressing.

I would be interested in modding if the need arose.

I've been active in D&D, H/A, Critical Failures, Graphic Violence and a little bit in SE++ and for the most part like to consider that I wouldn't have a problem modding any of them if asked. I haven't had any infractions against me in the time I've been here and and have steadily kept increasing my post count for those who deem it to be one of the staples of activity on the forums.

Presently the majority of the time that I am on is from 8am EST to 8PM EST as with my work I am always on these forums. On my days off I'm on most evenings from usually 9-10 pm EST until around 12 AM EST but also am on sporadically throughout the afternoon.

I do also have experience in moderating an internet chat room for a bit of time and feel that the experience would be beneficial in regards to any disputes or management of situations that arose with users of the forum.

As far as serving Tube's every whim, I suppose I don't have a problem with it. In fact I'd be expecting it as a newb mod to have to do a bit of the more...unsavoury work that was needed.

D&D keeps me busy mostly, I post in H/A when I have something to offer, but I got my start as a wee lad of 23 in SE++. 6 years, zero infractions. I hold grudges. Unfettered internet access at work, and I just bought a house so it's not like I can afford to do much besides sit at home in front of a computer, so for all the US Central time daylight hours, and many of the dark ones, I'm around.

I'd be interested in moderating CF. I'm involved in many of its subcultures (BSG, D&D, Phalla), and have prior experience moderating forums. I'm usually around noon to midnight EST, and the chain of command/experience does exist for a reason.

What forums you would want to moderate
The Writer's Block, but we're all so well behaved. The fact that we have two mods down there shocks me. I could also do D&D, H&A, or G&T and its spawn. I could do SE++ too.
Why you feel you would be suitable for the job
Because my heart can be made as cold as the depths of space on demand. Also, I'm capable of reasoned judgment.
What hours you are typically on the forums
    Way too many.

How enthusiastic you are about serving my every whim
Your whims tend to be very entertaining. I think I could stand to serve them.

As for my infractions, they fall into two categories:
    1: Misunderstandings I've learned from
2: Stupid mistakes I've learned from

Hey, sure, why not. Doesn't hurt to get the name out.

What forums would I be interested in moderating?

Well, Critical Failures is probably the one I frequent the most due to the various games I participate in or run, but if it weren't that Games and Technology would be the only other one I really post in enough to be considered.

Why am I suitable for the job?

As far as Critical Failures specific reasons go, like Arivia mentioned, I've been involved in most of the 'subcultures' there, such as the BSG boardgames, Phalla, and any of the play-by-post games from DnD to M&M to whole other systems, and would like to think that I've posted enough in that subforum that I'm not a complete stranger to it. That said, I have no problem with an iron fist if that's what it takes.

G&T is a little harder to rationalize but I'm still in there frequently enough, even if it's not quite posting as much.

What hours am I typically on the forums?

Beyond the occasional philosophy essay for classes I really don't have anything else to do, so I spend most of my time from 8:30am EST to midnight browsing the forums (to the point of when the forums are down, I automatically continue to try and check them because there's nothing else to do).

How enthusiastic am I about serving your every whim?

They've all been entertaining enough so far (read: draw a horse), so I think it wouldn't be a problem. Like MKR mentioned, the only infractions I've picked up so far are from incredibly stupid mistakes. :P

Being a mod sucks. Sure, I'll throw my name in the hat.

What forums you would want to moderate
G&T/ CF. Maybe D&D but I don't have as much experience there.

Why you feel you would be suitable for the job
I have a pretty good feel for the forums in general, and A good grasp of what is and isn't against the rules. I have previous moderator experience at another decent sized gaming website (for the game Neocron, probably a good 6-7 years ago during it's peak.) Plus I'm pretty good at ripping on someone for being stupid.

What hours you are typically on the forums
Varies, but generally 5pm-2am EST when I'm working. Although I've been known to check in the morning around 7-9am EST occasionally. On days I'm not working, probably randomly all day from like 10am to practically all night. I'll sleep when I'm dead. Why you feel you would be suitable for the job
I'd be one of those laid-back mods who just uses their powers to delete inappropriate images or lock spam threads and look at posts that are Reported to the Administration to see if mod intervention is necessary. Also, The Far Side dislikes me, which I believe is a prerequisite for mod-ship.

What hours you are typically on the forums
If I'm not at work, playing video/board games, or sleeping, then I'm probably online, which means I'll have the forums open on at least one tab. I'm on the board in the early afternoon (Noon-4 CST) and then the evening late into the night (or early into the morning, depending on your perspective) (8 PM CST - up to 5 AM CST).

If the need arose, I would be extremely interested in being a mod for D&D.

I've been a member of the forums for over five years and feel I have an understanding of how things work and what is needed for a mod. As I am in my late twenties now, I feel that I have an understanding of the time and commitment required and am willing to do so. A final reason for D&D which I actually feel is important is that I am female and this can be a good balance for a forum such as D&D.

I live in the UK and tend to be on the forums during the day (around 6am - 5pm, [edit] and actually quite often 'till about 10pm) which, in D&D would help fill the gap when the current mods are unable to be about due to that pesky sleeping thing. I can also, when required, be objective which is important for a forum such as D&D where there are often posts that while I may feel are morally reprehensible, do not actually break any of the rules, and, more importantly, posts with which in many ways I agree but are probably skirting the line of infractible.

I would be enthusiastic about helping CT and the other mods to make sure that the forums are kept up to the best standards they can be and keeping the community as a whole as happy as possible.

Why you feel you would be suitable for the job - I believe I have a good sense of objectivity and fairness towards posters. I've also been around for a year or two to know how the forums generally run and what is acceptable and what is not. I also have a low tolerance for stupid posts. There have been a couple of times when shock images have been posted and it took a while for the threads/posts to be deleted. My schedule would allow me to deal with these things quickly, especially on weekends. I bestow upon SE++ the gift of dry and dusty history as well the latest in human suffering news.

I'm basically applying here only because you said right NOW is the only time doing so wouldn't get me blacklisted, so I might as well show interest for future opportunities.

Why you feel you would be suitable to the job: Ah, tricky! I don't exhibit the traits that most moderators require to effectively do their tasks (Mildly bitter, stern, sharp wit), but I'm well aware of what does and doesn't fly on these forums. I also don't lose composure over things! That said, Thanatos is pretty swell at moddin' CF, and SE++ has some of the best mods on the team. I think that Than could probably use a hand in watchin' over CF, though.

What hours you are typically on the forums: Between the hours of 6:00 pm - 6:00 am EST (Midnight-Noon GMT) I'm usually online with the PA forums up in a tab.

How enthusiastic you are about serving my every whim: I recall a distant past where I've failed you in that regard, and I've been left with a scar that'll never recover. Not this time.

You were already a mod. You were horrible at it.

It was a different time, with different circumstances!

    You're totally right though.

For the record, I'm pretty sure my spergoid heritage exempts me from the consideration for this, but what the hey.

What forums you would want to moderate

    SE++

Why you feel you would be suitable for the job

I like to think I'd be fair and balanced, and totally wouldn't use my powers for evil (unless I think it'd be funny).

What hours you are typically on the forums

Mostly mornings after getting off the night shift, with most of the night/wee hours of the mornings of tuesdays and wednesdays.

How enthusiastic you are about serving my every whim

    "But I poop from there!"

Can I request that even if I suddenly become immensely popular and prove myself to be an invaluable addition to the forums and behave impeccably for the next ten years and never again write a rambling run-on sentence that I am never ever considered for a position?
