there are a lot of rich privileged white kids here and a lot of rich privileged foreign kids too. and um the school is basically focused on either business and international/public policy. it is in DC, DC is a cool place and we are half assed "liberal arts" and finally we have a very substantial and large lgbt community.
She could go to one of the Claremont Colleges, I guess
I don't know which one would be the best, though
Does she want the math stuff or the hippie stuff?
Pitzer or Harvey Mudd. Her personality is Pitzer, her major is Harvey Mudd. Luckily, the way the schools work she could easily go to Harvey and hang out with Pitzer kids. At the Claremont schools you can take classes across schools very easily but you have to major within your school, so which one she goes to really depends on her major (or, if the contest is between Pitzer and Pomona, her scores).
I was under the impression Reed was a stoner school. (No offense there.) But I'll mention that, and Harvey Mudd.
No, Evergreen is a stoner school. Reed is a bit of a "work hard, play hard" school. It's absolutely one of the best educations in the world - one of the ones that is so highly-ranked, it might as well be number one because there's no functional difference. It's a lot of work, though - there's no such thing as an easy class, and most students I've talked to describe hours and hours of work each day.
definitely not a stoner school, although it does have a bit of a psychedelic reputation because of the big "blowing-off-steam" fest at the end of the year
i can't imagine reed having a very strong engineering program
Reed's math program is its strongest, actually. And it has dual-degree programs with a few schools, one of which is Caltech.
also:
Reed has produced the second-highest number of Rhodes scholars for any liberal arts college—31—as well as over fifty Fulbright Scholars, over sixty Watson Fellows, and two MacArthur ("Genius") Award winners.[5][33] A very high proportion of Reed graduates go on to earn Ph.D.s, particularly in the sciences, history, political science, and philosophy. Reed is third in percentage of its graduates who go on to earn Ph.D.s in all disciplines, after only Caltech and Harvey Mudd.[6] In 1961, Scientific American declared that second only to Caltech, "This small college in Oregon has been far and away more productive of future scientists than any other institution in the U.S."[34][35] Reed is first in this percentage in biology, second in chemistry and humanities, third in history, foreign languages, and political science, fourth in the physical sciences, math and computer science, and science and engineering, fifth in physics and social sciences, sixth in anthropology, seventh in area and ethnic studies and linguistics, and eighth in English literature and the medical sciences.[6]
basically it's a fucking fantastic school no matter what you're studying.

all great for engineering
though MTU is all white dudes
actually I take that back it's now 4:1 since they added the Psychology program
Well I have a whistle and some pretty short shorts
does that count
i will grade her
hell i'll grade you
i'll grade anyone
it's really only the unisex shower room i'm interested in
and unlike everybody else in this thread I'm not just recommending my school, I don't even go there
trust me
I've visited Reed, some of my friends/acquaintances go to Reed, I've interviewed with Reed, I've done a lot of research on Reed
If she's academically motivated (the one thing you didn't mention, and it's a rigorous school) she belongs there
unisex as in you and I shower room.:winky:
I don't know which one would be the best, though
Does she want the math stuff or the hippie stuff?
And you leave out Kettering?

Look I don't know much about it other than I went to science fair there once
It's like a co-op school or something?
I bet we could all fit
gives the team a chance to bond
celandine are you convinced yet
Math stuff. She's not much of a hippie.

Yeah. It's pretty boss for engineering. Nifty school year setup. Rigorous and expensive, but a very good school. I have a few friends up there.

linear programming maaaaaaannnnnnn

so she shouldn't come here. at all.
(it's also way too expensive)

goddd I know so much about liberal arts schools
Well then I guess Harvey Mudd is the Claremont for her
PS - Do I know your sister?
Is her name Hannah?
you're going to be that classics professor in the secret history
(i think you said something about reading that once, shank)
focus on whatever gets her the most scholarships because everything else is more or less secondary to how cheap you can make it
and then i realized fuck all the work that goes into science/math
i mean, a research university could be really good for that
why not UW or something
this is terrible advice do not listen to it
We got a whole lot of honkeys though so that might not fulfill the fourth requirement
I'm going to be the what in the what?
the bird is the word?
but celandine, SERIOUSLY.
tell her to look into Reed and Harvey Mudd, although Claremont may not be enough city for her
in-state tuition is cheaper, but you most definitely do not get more scholarships
you're already in the state, they don't have to do a lot of luring
what the fuck is wrong with you, US
also she's 16 so she'll probably be an entirely different person when she's 18
right right, same difference
the institution doesn't really matter as long as you get a degree and focus on the school work
unless she's interested in research
http://numberblog.wordpress.com/
Ohhh, you think its a role playing sort of thing huh?
Classrooms are a pretty common setting in that case.
cheaper than my school

my tuition is probably a quarter of yours and im probably going to end up making twice as much as you do straight out of the gates
8-)
