the bone in the nose comment is a pretty weak example of Rush being racist

it's not a question of whether it was ok then, the point is you're trying to claim that he's currently racist and you're having to dig back 40 years for a comment he made as an example

Rush is a fat windbag, but the remark in question is such old news it's no longer relevant

it's completely relevant. it adds proof that this is nothing new to limbaugh's shtick. it shows that this is something that rush has been working with for 40+ years, and that racially charged comments aren't something he decided to add to his routine 5 years ago in the bath.

    And?

it establishes that the timeline is considerably larger than just a few years. it changes from him making some off-color comments from time to time to him making off-color comments during the length of his career

But seriously, work is a privilege, not a right.

I mean, what about when the owner fires a worker?

The sweat of my brow is mine, and mine alone.

Okay but I'm going to take a drop of sweat that you've discarded and find out how to synthesise it and then patent it and undercut you in the sweat market so no one will want your inferior, costlier sweat anyway.

Work, like health care, fire service, police, roads, electricity, garbage pickup, and water are necessary for a functioning society.

I mean, if the workers all pool their resources and build a factory on their own, it is theirs of course.

But you don't get to take away someone's property just because you work for them.

You can't demand to work for a person tho. It is the employer who decides who gets the job and who doesn't.

oh, I know. there's not a single person on this forum who isn't aware that they're getting trolled every time they respond to one of his posts, but people respond anyway--at length, even. that's what makes it so astonishing.

edit: that might look like I'm looking down on you for responding to him. totally not the case. I'm sure I've done the same thing; lots of people have. that's what's so weird about it!

And rightfully so. The right to own property is one of the most important human rights in my opinion.

The right to do with your resources as you please is a fundamental cornerstone of freedom.

I worked and earned money and purchased the land from the person who it belonged to before.

It belonged before to the person or organization that first set foot onto it and claimed it. After that it was traded and I am merely the current owner until I trade it to someone else.
