What is wrong with you people? If you're going to talk about bipedal robotic fighting exoskeletons, why are you not discussing units from Front Mission 3?

Wait I hope you aren't talking about the mechwarrior darkages bullshit they pulled. I don't know, I haven't read me my battletech since they started that.
I am so glad they are rebooting it and hopefully doing it right this time. Although it was pretty awesome through 4.

mostly because when you got hit with one your whole mech stumbled
You hit someone with 4 ER PPCs at once they are hell of gonna stumble.
Or scream in agony as their armor melts onto them!
They really were the most overpowered weapon in that game. Put a couple of Awesomes and Catapults on long/medium range damage and a couple light mechs to harass your targets = win...
Or, find a nice set of trees/a canyon and use your light mechs to lure the targets into the middle of it. Virtually safe from enemy fire while you beat them down, or light the forest on fire and watch the enemy mechs try to get out before they overheat/die from you shooting them up!

Alpha Striking with LRM missiles was really the easiest way to play.

The only shitty part is running out of ammo, because then you usually had an assault mech, with 2 small lasers...

Can't fucking wait.
House Marik was awesome up until the stupid Word of Blake revolt and the Steiner betrayal. I stopped playing before 4th edition came out, but in 3rd edition I would run games using the special rules handbook, all using the missiles that could pass through the ferro-fibrous armor and detonate inside the engine cavity while I've spent points on reactive and ablative armor plus I've marked off-map artillery with fast moving hovercraft using TAG systems to mark arty targets
Or I could juts stop there and say that used combined arms assets to completely obliterate my enemy.
I once had an Atlas hidden in a heavy forest hex that was able to move one hex and roll a critical melee attack against a clan Puma. Took out both legs in one attach by crushing it.

There were so many rules and attack methods that most people didn't bother to learn.
As in, hey, remember three rounds ago when I set that forest hex on fire and it spreads to this many adjacent hexes every so many rounds and you've been standing in that hex for two rounds so now you're completely overheated and your cover modifiers are gone.
Oh yeah, and money to buy the absurdly priced figures and paints
and possibly even talent to paint something that looks halfway decent.
Back in the late 90's when I played BattleTech 3rd edition, normally a single pewter model cost somewhere between $4 and $5 bucks. It was a cheap game to get into. The models were the same size as current 40k models.

oh ok
but the protagnist mech in that video, an Inner Sphere Warhammer
Both arms were post-Star League PPCs. One shoulder, a giant spot light that gave targeting bonuses to any non 'mech units. The other was an SRM-6. In the torso, one medium band laser on each side, along with one heavy machine gun for anti infantry operations per side. If I remember right, it was a 75 ton 'mech.
I'm currently staring desperately at an ebook page for "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience". I desperately want to read it, but it is $11. and that is currently beyond my means.

that
would be
fantastic
also um this
is owned by my friends dad
i spent a week on it when we all went to bermuda and it was docked there
hot damn that was the most amazing shit
So I'd never heard of the Awesome
And I looked it up and I was like HOLY SHIT A BATTLEMECH MADE JUST FOR ME
lucky devil.
The Thor and the Loki are probably two of my most favorite designs.
It was pretty fun in the board game to hit someone with its PPCs.... 20 points of damage each caused cringing.

BLAM BLAM BLAM
but that does sound awesome
I wish I had people to play wargames with here (actually I'd need to have room for actual wargaming stuff first)
and possibly even talent to paint something that looks halfway decent.
The whole time, quick little hovercraft,
lasing their mechs for artillery strikes.
