Where did all the DS's go??

I got a bunch of money for christmas, and decided that I wanted to buy a DS lite, but then as I got online and went to several stores, just about every store across the nation has the DS on back-order, is nintendo gonna ship any more units anytime soon? Or should I spend my money on other things?

I've been looking for one too. I got one for my girlfriend when I got my Wii on November 19th, and she decided she was going to get one for me too but wasn't able to find one at the store after that.

A guy at Gamestop told me they wouldn't have them until February. I don't know if that's (a) just Gamestop, (b) just my Gamestop or (c) true at all, but that's what he said.

Speaking as an EBStop employee, it's A+C. We got an email from corporate that said we won't get any more until late January. It's possible that other companies might get some sooner, but they're probably all in the same situation EBStop is.

On another, more hilarious note, we have 8 PS3s in stock and we can't get rid of them.

DSes sold like crazy for Christmas. That's the long and short of it.

Edit: And keep in mind that Nintendo now has to produce hardware for two highly-demanded systems instead of one. It's going to take them longer to get DSes out in sufficient numbers than it did before.

My parents were going to buy me one for Christmas, so I just had them buy a used regular DS from EB's site. I'm not regretting it one bit. I would have died to have waited until past Feb. to play FFIII.

I spent 195 dollars to buy one for my mother for Christmas, five days before Christmas.

Now, Nintendo is shipping Wiis out, slowly...I think the Wii is their priority, unfortunately, and haven't heard shit about the DS Lite coming back in stock yet.

I've been looking on Ebay for one...I'd like to get an Onyx, but they're going for $160-$170 plus shipping, and that's just not worth it for me. To save upwards of $40, I can wait a month.

(However, I have told myself that my limit on Ebay is $150. If I can get one for that, it's mine ;))

Dude you can't buy Nintendo hardware with money.

Seriously though, if this Christmas's sales prove anything it's that Nintendo is doomed as fuck. [/sarcasm]

There were tons of DS Lites at the Fry's near me yesterday. Not sure if that helps anyone unless they're in Austin, though.

DS Lites are everywhere here in Canada. Try ordering from a Canadian site, like Future Shop. Shipping might be a little more to the US, but at least you'll get one.

    Does futureshop.ca offer international shipping?
We are unable to ship orders outside of Canada.

And I got so excited when I saw they had them in stock, too. :(

It was hilarious watching on amazon.com as Christmas approached: First pink and black Lites were on the top of the best seller charts, then they sold out and dropped off the charts, to be replaced at the top by the white dslite, which then sold out, to be replaced by the electric blue ds phat... which then sold out.

So basically Nintendo needs to build more factories.

They seem to have all the colours in stock and if they ship all the way out to Australia they should be fine to get to you.

I was in the same boat two days ago. Wanted a DS since before Christmas, haven't been able to find any.

Then I got hella lucky. Went into EBStop for my routine checkup ( :winky: ) They said they had one that was possibly being traded in but it was still being decided. I figured I'd wait around a bit, and apparently the guy trading it in heard me ask about it. I overheard him talking to his friend saying how he wanted cash for the damn thing but since he wasnt 18 he couldn't get it. He putzed around a bit and left the store. I followed suit and he chased me down and offered to sell it to me for the cash tradin value ($60 at EBStop)

TL;DR Got myself a Black DS Lite + Metroid Hunters for $67, horray for 17 year olds desperate for cash!

Yesterday though I did check TRU and saw that they had about 7 DS Lites in their case. So my relevant advice for this thread it to check those nearby stores that sell games, but not everyone and their mother goes to. Back when KBToys still sold video games I got all sorts of out of print Games because no one ever really paid attention to their gamestock.

Guess that's why they do deal in games anymore

I was going to get an Onyx one, but I settled for a polar white one, because that was all that I could find in my town.

Of course, there were only 2 left at the store.
