As has been said before, if you hate Tebow, this will push you towards being pro abortion, choice be damned.
Nah, that specific one is almost certainly due to lack of factoring for the declining number of registered republicans (who have been switching to Independents), resulting in a higher proportion of those who remained being hardcore life, and being given greater weighting when "normalized" for party identification.
It was a few years back, but we looked into the breakdown in my sociology class senior year. The vast, overwhelming majority (I'm talking close to 9:1) are in favor of abortion being an option in cases where a) the mother's life is in danger, b) rape/incest, and c) there is a statistically high probability that the child would be born with a defect where it would die soon after childbirth. There were three other options which were roughly 50/50 split which were economically infeasible for the person to raise it, one which I don't remember, and for any reason whatsoever. Of those three, the one I don't remember was a ever so slight majority in favor of allowing abortion, and the other two were an ever so slight majority in favor of not allowing abortion.
These numbers had remained roughly constant for a number of years.
It's just that when trying to break it down to a single specific question "pro choice vs pro life" everyone only thinks about the last one. A good 50-75% of those pro-lifers would likely append "except in cases of rape, incest, or where the mother's life is in danger" at the end of it.

I blame everything on Obama now. But there's a good book that talks about the granularity of abortion opinions called "What Culture Wars?". There are also other issues that seem really polarized but in fact are about the degree to which people take them.
And Tebow was almost aborted by his christian mother? Even if the story is true, I find that hard to fucking believe that devout christian parents would even consider any type of aborting whatsoever. That story is really suspcious sounding to me.
Wiki is stating that his mother had complications with him during pregnancy to the point of infection and the doctors recommended abortion, to which she refused. So this would qualify as almost aborted. So it was less a crisis-of-faith and more practical medial issue.
That's what's so fucked up - he's arguing against therapeutic abortions. "Hey women, if your doctor tells you that your pregnancy might kill you, don't listen to him!"
Also fails in the "correlation does not equal causation" test. Sure, if you choose to go against medical advice, you may beat the odds and both survive birth. And then that baby might, might go on to be a class act college quarterback, if not a bit preachy.
I think I would totally be behind a general PSA athlete. If there was a star out there who, instead of talking about God in every post-game interview, would just throw out random messages, I would love that. Like "Neuter your dogs and cats" and "Remember, don't make any 'private' sex tapes with your boyfriend" or "insulate your windows. Conserve some power. Save money!"

It's about the base voters and less the politicians. Liberals do not tend to join the military and are way to caught up with reducing collateral damage and other issues. Thus the military is overwhelmingly conservative and not understood by the democratic base, at all. Trying to repeal don't ask don't tell doesn't help this situation.
