[WoW] A Hard Day's Work: The Profession Thread

I'm sure not finding any herbs. But that is due to the massive amount of people in outland.
Some badass new recipes, one of which gives me 60 attack power for an hour.
Herbalism is badass. Certain plants such as "dreaming glory" give you like a 10 or 15 minute regen buff anytime you pick one.
Also you can get multiple drops for a flower. There's one that when you combine 10 you make some kind of "Mote". Not sure what they are used for but i'm saving them regardless.
In zangarmarsh, there are some plant guys that you can "herbalize" when they die which is cool. It's kind of like skinning for herbalists, where you get random flowers and stuff.
All and all come very cool new stuff for Herbalism and Alchemy.

Motes are transmutable stuff, much like essences of water, etc... if I'm not mistaken.
Motes of water will be the most sought after since not a lot of mobs give them.
The rest are pretty common. There are motes that only drop in instance... i think nether motes or something and other stuff that only 1-2 drop per boss kill in heroic mode.

I was going to go mining/engineering for my new hunter; but I have heard that engineering was nerfed hard. It was barely useful to me last time I had it (warlock), but I thought that the jumper cables and such would be good on a hunter.
Should I go jewelcrafting, or skinning, or is engineering actually still OK and the QQing at the WoW boards is nonsense?
As a hunter you can build your own weapons and ammunition. Unless you're talking late-game, the ammunition you build is better than what you can buy for your level.
Engineering is a nice profession.
There are some ridiculously good(as good or better than tier 5 and arena gear) crafted stuff with dragonscale leatherworking now. Some decent 70 blues that are easier to make, too.
And don't forget that they made armor patches good now. 20 agi and 10 stamina? Yes plz. There's a high stamina one too.
Also please please please take the time to look at the new Engineering stuff. It didnt get nerfed, they only continued with more of the same really good usefuly stuff that makes you chuckle. I am the undisputed trinket master, and now with BC Ill be able to continue that tradition.
I saw soooo many kool gnome items!! new dmg shield belt (cloth this time) and absorbs...a figure I cant be remebering right. I keep wanting to say a stupid high number Ill check before getting anyones hopes up.
My only regret with the expansion is that I didn't have enough time to get my cooking and fishing to 300 before it.
The fish recipes are ridiculous. 30 stamina and 8 mana per five for thirty minutes for one of them. Another gives you 30 agi and 20 spirit.
I heard there are even pet recipes that give stat bonuses to hunter pets.
The trinkets alone are worth it. Ammo, not so much anymore, weapons, there are better drops in instances, the jumper cables are a must, the remote mail terminals and repair bots... oh my.
i miss all of these already.

Fel Weed also has a chance of dropping a consumable item (BOP) that absorbs 750-1250 damage from all sources.
Also Blacksmithing is sooo good now! They can make runes! (kind of like enchants, one is: Chance on hit to absorb: 400 dmg once ever 2mins)
Also that engy belt absorbs 3000-4000 damage. Thats right you heard me lol. Also best gnome trinket:
+45 Stamina trinket that turns your target into a Chicken for 15 sec.
Tailors are getting caster leg enchantments. Depending on the Shattrah faction you choose it is either healer or DPS but still leg enchantments easily gotten, huh?

Actually, if there's a trainer for that in Azeroth, that'll do too.

In the lower city of Shattrah. There are several Blacksmiths, one of each type.
apparently you can buy all the old flask recipes from a vendor now, which if true is total bullshit =/
well Flask of wisdom costs 4g and exhalted rep with Cenarion Expidition
It's on a different cooldown from regular potions too.
If there's one thing I've learned being a skinner from level 5 on, it's that no one else in the world skins, unless you're in a group, in which case everyone is.
I was in that big Orc camp south of Honor Hold, where you call in the air strikes, and there were just mountains of dead wolves ever.

Manif, we're gonna replace every piece of your gear with greens, I shit you not.
That's cool.
An upgrade is an upgrade.
That's what I was doing on my blood elf yesterday while I waited for the tow truck.
"Oh you've already killed this quest mob I need? That's cool, I can use the leather."
What should a Rogue Take-up at this point in time. Should I Leatherwork? Are there awesome rogue weapons that arent swords or daggers, that can be crafted via Blacksmithing?
Also, what's the best way to level them up without going back to Azeroth at this point. Should I just take up LW and BS and buy my mats from now on? I want to learn...but...Outland...so pretty...

Jewelcrafting can make fist weapons. (I saw a design in game over the weekend on a vender) But if you want to not spend money then just take up two gathering. As a rogue though I think engineering is by far the best. You can make magical absorption which is the only damage a rogue cant usually deal with (dodge/parry) you can make bombs that stun enemies, exploding sheep, etc. Also for PvE you can have jumper cables that could save your group if you can vanish during a wipe. Blacksmithing is really a plate profession since most of the weapons are 2 handers or meant for the plate classes (minus things like Heartseeker of course)

No, I didn't spend spend 10 minutes yesterday frantically searching for the prospecting skill in my spellbook, why do you ask?
Really? I had heard that they were craftable, then I heard they weren't.
If this is the case then I may have to take that up, especially since there arent any "requires Blacksmithing" 1h Maces or Swords that I've seen so far.

I believe it was a walking vendor in Org that I saw it on. I was like "WOW craftable fist weapons!!! SWEET ASS!" then I remembered that I don't own the expansion so all I have is engineering and will have to buy it from someone.

=/ thank goodness I took all the time to farm for every single flask earlier .... shit if I'd have known they were going to take everything special from the old game and make it easy as crap I wouldn't have bothered
Ya pretty much. :P
yeah, but the fact is that people who worked their asses off to get something that wasn't easily obtainable are getting it thrown in their faces
gear is replacable at every level and multiple times at 60, but recipes are the defining part of your crafting.
I dunno I guess I was just proud that I had the patience to farm every Flask and now anyone and his brother can get them for 4g and some easy to grind rep
So my question is, should I drop Skinning and level up with Mining/Jewelcrafting? Is it a big moneysink, does it make good lowbie items, etc? Any sort of crappiness to it that I'm not aware of? Where do you get the recipes?
