If East '11 already has a costume thread, we should probably catch up
What are your plans for cosplay at PAX Prime?
For me, this thread is more aptly titled "To Cosplay or Not?" When I cosplayed in '06 (and, admittedly, as it was my second cosplay, it was a REALLY BAD costume) there wasn't much positive reaction and I was maybe 1 of 5-10 people in cosplay. By '07, I saw maybe 10-15 cosplayers. Maybe. I haven't gone in 2 years - is PAX Prime still a low-cosplay event? Is the cosplay best left for PAX East (which I'll probably attend next year anyways & will be able to get my cosplay fix)?
I'm also going to be Enforcing, so I wouldn't be in costume 100% of the time. I guess I could find a good non-Mario costume that uses a red shirt
I will be refining my Altiar costume from last year and wear it for at least 2 of the days, and (if Johnathan Colton peforms) go as Tom, from his song "RE: Your Brains" cause I think ti would make for a great photo :P
I'll be putting together an Ethan Mars from Heavy Rain. Ideally, I'll have "thought" buttons hovering around me, but I need to find a clever way of positioning them without whapping anyone in the face with a "(X) Jason".

Time and money allowing, I may either be going as the box from MGS, L from deathnote, or both.
I distinctly remember more than 15 cosplayers in '08 and '09. It's definitely grown since you left.
And you should be looking for a costume that uses a black shirt!
Er, yeah, black, or whatever color we're supposed to be in this year? I'm getting confused :P
I have a Franziska von Karma (Phoenix Wright) costume that I'm considering wearing. My other video game costumes are only recognizable in a group, since they're not major characters.
I cosplayed for the very very first time at Sakura con, and LOVED it! (I was Tifa, ala Advent Children) I told myself I'd cosplay to future cons. Also, the outfit cost me a pretty penny, so ah, I wanna wear it more than once.
Anytime I see anything about cosplay, I want to do one. Then I realize that I don't have the supplies (or 99% of the skill) to create a costume to my very exacting requirements. Not to mention that the slightest bit of extra fabric makes me overheat. I'll probably just resort to demanding photos of/with cosplayers instead.

I should go as Bob and we can act out the song ;p.. now all we need is the "we" in, "All we want to do is eat your brains!"

Chibi-Tzar (SmallLady on here), myself and one of her friends whose name I can't remember will be doing mages! ^_^
SmallLady = White Mage
Dude-Friend = Black Mage
Me = Red Mage
I, personally, am shooting for 8-Bit kind of Red Mage instead of 11 Red Mage style. However, I seriously lack in the the time and the skills to create one on my own. So, yeah, I am hunting for a costume-designer/creator.

Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill!
please don't kill me!
I may just have to. Kill you, that is. If I were going to do a Chiaki Kuriyama character, I'd probably do Chigusa from Battle Royale anyway. Only problem is that both leave me with my hair down on my neck, which I can't stand. The current alternative is to do one of Izumi from FMA, but while my hair would be up, the braids would be a PAIN IN THE ASS to get done.
NovaFlares: YES!! EBay has the shorts (link as example). You can double it up and go as Banjo. Kidding. Though as long as you had the yellow shorts, blue packpack, and red bird, you could probably use it as a half-assed cosplay. :P
It looks like my friends' epic The World Ends With You group might be making a comeback with a few additions. We used to have Neku, Shiki, Beat, Rhyme, Hanekoma, and Konishi, but we might also be adding Uzuki and Joshua. assuming I can convince all those people that PAX is awesome and worth it. It's also a group that I'm not super important in (I'm Konishi), so it won't hurt the effect too much if I'm unavailable.
Edit: Oh my god I use too many smileys. I guess cosplay is just exciting.

If I make it out to PAX Prime this year, I'll likely bring along my tenth Doctor gear and perhaps something new for another day.

I am thinking about dressing up like a splicer this year, but I'm not sure if I will-too busy playing video games to put together a costume.
Thanks, but first I need a partner, and a Snow cosplayer to mount us (that sounds kinda kinky. O.o) I met someone at SakuraCon last weekend that was interested, but she hasn't emailed me back.T-T And also secure permission to wear it. The costume is like almost 9ft high and 3ft wide.
LOL it was my first Cosplay con here in the US, I didn't expect that almost half the crowd was in cosplay. :P Was really fun!XD Anywho back to PAX, wish they would have a gaming cosplay contest, that would be fun. :P Considering that a lot of major gaming companies are participating, they should give awards like, best Namco, SquareEnix, etc cosplay awards, I'm sure those companies wouldn't mind pitching in for the prizes :P *hint hint*

The people at the ubisoft booth recorded me and gave me the pre-order swag free when they saw me dressed up as altair :P Just depends on who is at the booth at the time I guess. An official contest would be cool though

If the costume's that unwieldy, I don't know if I'd recommend it for PAX. There are serious crowds and something might get broken. Would you be good to sit in panels? Or check out the expo hall? Could you hang out on sumos playing DS? Based on the pics on your site, I have no doubt you can pull it off, but don't sacrifice your health/safety/PAX enjoyment/costume itself for looking cool! :P
Then again, I think there have been some people doing pretty hefty costumes, so what do I know. Well, I guess I know that I wouldn't want to be uncomfortable at PAX due to clothing. X) You're the best judge for yourself, though!
I am planning to go as Reisen from Touhou. It's a pretty simple costume, but it'll be fun. Touhou is pretty obscure though, I'd be surprised if more than a few people recognized me. I am also trying to get a Megaman costume together, inspired by my heroes The Protomen. (I hope they come to Prime!) I might not be able to finish this due to time and money constraints however.

Wait a sec, Touhou is the series Perfect Cherry Blossom is from, right? God I miss those games, I haven't been able to get them to run since going to Win7. I was terrible at them, but SO much fun and so pretty.
Im sticking with my Enforcer Cape for costume though :P
Your enforcer cape is awesome.
There were more than 15 TF2 cosplayers at Pax last year, you just have to remember that the percentage of cosplayers may be small due to the overwhelming mass of people.

Yup, that's Touhou. And I'm pretty much in the same boat. I am not very good at Touhou, but I enjoy it anyway.

Hehe, I wouldn't consider Touhou obscure anymore. I've done Suika in the past, although it's a pain to transport via bus. The horns broke twice!
I am planning to cosplay, but I haven't pinpointed the exact costume I want to do yet. Something Cave Story!
I wonder how much it would cost me to make up a Professor Layton costume. I'd imagine not all that much, except for the really really tall hat.
Probably not much, and most of the parts of his costume are reusable in daily life without looking weird, so it actually has practical use! Normal-ish costumes FTW.

Man...if I wasn't moving and had to focus on stuff I can wear to PAX AND a month or so after, I would so bring my get up.
I will however be bringing my renfest Pirate garb, with the intention of getting a pic with Paul and Storm
