And for chrissake, if you're writing a plot about a holographic irish village, in a show about people trapped in unknown territory on the other side of the galaxy, you're fucking doing it wrong.

Edit: This goes for you, too, DS9. Fucking holographic lounge lizards.

fuck you, Vic Fontaine is the best thing to ever happen to a holodeck

So a friend decided to buy me a Taco Bell commemorative Star Trek "The Search for Spock" cup for my birthday.

    41785213797db3bebb31.jpg
    (button not included)

Which is weird because I have no other Trek memorabilia, I've never seen the film, and I prefer TNG anyway.

And I think the image on the cup is technically a spoiler.

All in all, it's quite an awkward situation.

He did his research! It's why he got a cat instead of a dog in the first place.

A cat would be satisfied with an automaton going through the motions so long as it was diligent and attentive.

Yeah, I always teared up when he said that, but after getting more in to Trek lore I realized "Holy shit, that's a HUGE insult to Vulcans". I'm sure Saavik was thinking "Well if he was alive he'd say 'Fuck You' too Kirk."

The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine are considered really really good
haven't seen the latter, but TNG is definitely the bomb
the original is OK, but I'm not quite sure if TNG is also on youtube

So I've watched all of TNG from season 3 onward; such a fantastic show.

Is there any point in watching the first two seasons? I haven't heard good things.

Last summer I tried to get into TOS after watching the new movie but I couldn't do it. I finished seasons 1 & 2 but begrudgeingly. The show is just old silly kinda like the first two seasons of TNG which makes sense.

I love TOS crew though and have seen their movies countless times and that includes 1 and 5.

TOS has some episodes that are still really good. The aformentioned City on the Edge of Forever, The Balance of Power and whatnot.

And then you have stuff like spock missing his brain and alien american cavemen.

TNG first season is pretty sweet. I've gotten only to the first six eps and already you have the Wayfarer introduced, a crime mystery involving an electronic spirit posessing Picard and offering him the ultimate exploration, thinly-veiled digs at the cold war..
