I don't know, maybe I'm just immune to Obsidian's particular brand of bullshit, but the ideosyncracies of AP bothered me a heck of a lot less than those of say, SCC or the other game that people always yell at me for comparing it to. And for the record, I think that it's probably obsidian's least buggy (non expansion pack) release to date

To be honest. I don't think they're particulary brand of bullshit didn't change from the Black Isle days. With the Fallouts as an exception (Well, not so much an exception but less worse.) every game had Gameplay problems except Icewind Dale (And that I manly attribute to Josh Sawyer. The Man knows his Gameplay)

His only project from Obsidian was coming in towards the end of NWN2 (Which probably didn't matter too much at that point). Thats why I'm so friggin excited for New Vegas.

From a Gameplay standpoint alone Bioware was always better. But since I'm a guy who enjoys the writing of a game more I still very much liked every Obsidian game.

(For that matter if they don't make shit again like changing the lead designers halfway through I'm more than excited for Dungeon Siege III.)

And Bugs "Buahahahahahahahahahhaahhaah". I don't honestly remember any Black Isle/Obsidian game that wasn't riddled with it.

I just had my first glitch in the game. Coming out of the Weapons Orientation down the ladder I fell into the ground into a black space.

I specced my Tech Specialist to use SMG's, but the one I used during the orientation was dual wielded. Is it like that for every SMG? I'm not really sure if SMG's are good and I don't like dual-wielding them even if they are.

Yes, you always dual wield SMG's. They are good as extreme close range weapons. For now just experiment around with the weapons and find a set that you like, after Saudi Arabia you can respec all of your points

Played it, beat it, really liked it. I also didn't run into a single glitch, save for manipulating the camera in such a way to give me impossible head-shots with the pistol.

Now I'm running through as a Rambo type on Easy mode, pimping out my SMGs and just letting them do the talking.

... I did just start Resonance of Fate, though. AP might take a spot on the backburner for a little.

Don't think of them as specific weapons, think of them as weapon TYPES that are put into four categories; what KIND of shooting do you prefer, picking people off with silent medium range headshots from behind cover, taking a minute to carefully line up a headshot and plink foes off from a distance, knocking over enemies with brute force, or having a good "fuck you" gun that you just point in the general direction of whatever you want dead.

Agreed. I hated the SMGs at least partly for that reason. It just did not fit.

Played this a little bit. So far I'm enjoying it, but I'm only on the second real mission. One thing that annoys me is that some doors "lock" behind you. I went through a door, murdered some guy on the other side, turned around to get the health, but I couldn't open it anymore.

Also, I can't jump into a window? Bah.

Stick with it. Saudi missions are kinda meh. Game really picks up when you get to the world select part. Taiwan is really fun for sneaking around.

Lame. I'll have to keep that in mind. Also this game is really hard to sneak around for me because all of my 360 controllers automatically move to the left slightly. So I'll be hiding in a corner and out of nowhere I'll jump out in front of everyone.

the first shadow operative level is relativly fair in that regard. Doesn't hold long and has a long cooldown. It really beginns to break with Advanced and Master breaks the game completly. Anyway, yes. Hope the patch still comes out to fix that :I

Sometimes Shadow Operative is just enough to calm you down when something goes awry during the game. Like the enemy who spawns after you've cleared out an area because it is scripted to do so. Neck chop/hide.
