Ordinarily I would look at the SB Kinect video and agree with Mara's position; wasn't what I was hoping for, but not ready to dismiss it outright.

Then I saw that Capcom essentially handed off one of their big franchises to a third party developer, who also just released some disheartening video.

Together, these videos are an effective 1-2 combo to morale.

    Keep in mind -

    1) Steel Battalion was developed by a 3rd party - Nude Maker.

    2) Devil May Cry has been going downhill since #1. Maybe it's time for another hand on the reigns. :)

Is Nude Maker still around? If so, if I were a rich prick, I'd definitely hire them to make a true Steel Battalion sequel on the PC/360. :P

That aside, will we be holding a SB LAN party at any time in the near future? It'd be awesome if we did for Thanksgiving break since I'm resuming college studies next Wednesday.

For those of you lamenting the loss of your SB franchise to kinect, don't. I hate to tell you this but the franchise was lost the minute Line of Contact shipped. The kinect game is not a death knell. The death knell was sounded over five years ago. For all intents and purposes, this is "Aluminum Battalion" and might as well not be related to yours at all. I can appreciate the idea that you were given "hope" only to immediately see that hope snatched away, but in actuality, you have exactly what you had one week ago.

It's more just general rage that they're using the IP to push some other game that probably wouldn't have made it without some sort of name recognition.

Hey, was wondering if anyone can tell me what the result of the MetaCampaign at PAX West was? Did HSD pull off the Rout in the end? or did the PRF hold the line and the lead? (the results for the mission before the last were posted to the twitter page, but not the final :S )

HSD got the Rout, PRF fought well but not as well as we could have...

I skimmed through the thread, but does anyone have photos of the final setup?

BTW, this pic is really old, but...

I've got some pics of the boot camp room, I don't think I ever got any of the campaign room. I'll get what I got posted later.

Hrm, my half-controller arrived today, in spite of the pedal lacking, it is still love and win.

I bet you're already playing with the controller, pretending you're piloting a VT like a little kid does when you plunk him into the driver's seat of a military vehicle (be it jet or tank). Nobody can resist doing that!

Just out of curiosity how many people do we have in the Seattle metro area with an SB set up willing to meet up for a one or two day event to play SB:LOC.
    Team tourney or Campaign?

Looking for a decent # of people to justify renting a space.

I'd be down for this. Granted, gimme a couple weeks to snag the rest of my supplies, but yah, SB Get together would be win.

I'm up for it. However, if you plan on renting a space, it helps if I can have someone in the community come to pick me and my equipment up (as well as for the return trip), since I do not own a car, nor have a driver's license.

(I'm 26 and I don't have a car or a license...why? Insurance...they gouge the hell out of me on account of my hearing loss.)

Don't mean to thread-necro, even though I'm sure there's another SB thread (I have this one bookmarked, though) -- if there's another SB thread, let me know where it is.

In the meantime, I got my action replay back from Titan, but it doesn't let me copy the MechAssault save to my machine. Does anyone know a workaround to get it to run? This has been very slow in resolving.

    Thanks.

Edit: At worst, I may have to find some way to get a modchip installed into my Xbox that won't interfere with the SB controller. I'm not a fan of butchering hardware.

Why do you need a mod chip?
I have an executer 3 if you need one, i could let it go cheap.
You could save your self the time and anguish and just softmod the xbox, using a similar exploit to the VT unlock exploit.

I'd rather we didn't get into those kinds of discussions on the boards. Thank you.

That's what I'm trying to do, soft-mod it, but it's been proving fairly frustrating so far. I'm leaving open the option of doing a hardware modchip onto it, but that will be a last resort. I'll wait for your memory card first -- let me know when it's sent.

We understand the issue, however this is unsupported hardware we're talking about. The original Xbox. Microsoft no longer provides tech support, nor customer support for it. As far as I'm concerned, it's "abandonware". As such, it seems silly to be on guard over "modding" old hardware.

Regardless, we'll avoid discussion of hardware mod chops on these forums. We're quite aware of how easily it can cross into protected territory (Xbox 360's, for instance).

Well, I got the soft-mod to work, all VTs unlocked.

Turns out that after Titan gave me the soft-mod file for the action replay, I couldn't figure out how to copy the savegame to the xbox. I figured that part out and the rest came easy.

All done. If anyone needs my action replay, let me know.

Will it be coming to Pax East 2011?

I missed it this year and i would LOVE playing 5 v 5's for three days apart from the occasional 2 v2 that comes along once in a blue moon.

Keeping Loc alive and well on Xlink Kai.

If it comes to East, I've got a second controller I can loan out for the event.
