Not quite as good as the album version but still amazing and I couldn't find a youtube of it

EDIT: Also just saw someone posted Naked As We Came. That's up there, but Sodom, South Georgia is my #2.

I Am the Fun Blame Monster is indeed the first record, although I think Friend & Foe is much, much better.

    It's instrumental, but:

That's a good challenge, my pick as of late would have to be this. I don't know....you could just as easily hate this song, but coupled with the performance, there's something so tragic and simple about it.

I just checked Amon Tobin's myspace.

It turns out that rather than focus on the "next album," he produces one song a month and sells them online.

Why don't I own this? WHY DON'T I OWN THIS???

I can't watch the video on my connection right now, but is that Mask (Henry Rollins show, I think)? If so, it is a beautiful song.

    Maybe Emily by Joanna Newsom.

Unrelated to the question, I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned The Music Tapes yet.

Beautiful, eh? Well being the resident Neutral Milk Hotel fanboy, I'd say Two Headed Boy pt. 2, but there aren't any good YouTube videos of it.

But if we're talking Sufjan, may I suggest (it gets pretty unlistenable by the end due to quality, but oh wow it's so beautiful at the beginning):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMI0v9zhsvI

and let's not forget Sigur Rós:

and this little ditty by Broken Social Scene almost destroyed me live so...

Oh shits! New Protomen song. It's linked in Tychos news post, but I just got around to reading it.

I really love the first Protomen album, and I don't even give a shit about Megaman. ACT II better live up to the amazing of the first. This demo song is pretty sweet.

    Manchester Orchestra
    Dear and the Headlights

aw hell ya. 2 out of 5 so far.

And if you're familiar Maps & Atlases, and Nurses started a country wide tour recently. They've already passed through my neck of the woods, and blew the top off of the place. If you get a chance check the show.

They are pretty hard to find.

I had to resort to... other means.

Amazon or ebay is your best bet though.

Or this if you can read moon language. I'm not sure if it ships everywhere though.. :P

Ok, so totally belongs in a Punk music thread instead of this one, but, I mean, punk is kinda indie isn't it? I mean it isn't on a major record label atleast.

    NEW D4 SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, I fucking love Final Fantasy. I really wish they came up when discussing video game music more often.

Minibosses are nice and all, but Owen Pallet is the guy I don't skip on shuffle.

He swam! To the edge of the wall of the world!
Followed my voice, and he cried
Master! The answer is maybe... Maybe not... Maybe not...
    Maybe not! I have goals!
    Gotta fulfill the seven prophecies!
Gotta be a friend to grandmother!
Gotta rescue Michael from the White Witch!
Gotta find and kill my shadow self
Gotta dig up every secret seashell
You may have been made for love...
    But I'm just made.

I see a lot of great tracks have already been mentioned in response to the question posed by MindLib, and I'd like to add one I didn't see on anyones list: Playing Dead by Breathe Owl Breathe (never did find any video of it, so this mp3 stream will have to do)

Is it the most beautiful song I've ever heard? Probably not, but I had it playing in my current playlist and thought it was worth mentioning :)

Owen's not really video game music, though, apart from the name. The songs on He Poos Clouds are about the schools of magic in D&D, but the stuff on Has a Good Home and his new material aren't game related. Unless there's an odd song that I'm forgetting about.

Yeah, it's definitely not video game music in the same way that minibosses are, but with the numerous video game references in He Poos Clouds, I just wish he came up in video game music conversation more often.
