I am just finishing some delivered sushi! I hadn't even heard of freshly delivered sushi until I moved to Vegas. But then here I am, having some rainbow rolls and takoyaki.
no, this place is good. the guy puts up his receipts from the sydney fish markets every morning
they aren't gourmet rolls or anything, this is a food court, but it's still about twice as good as any other kind of value to be found in this damned town
Nice. I need to find a good sushi place in atlanta. There are bound to be several but I haven't bothered to search.
I did have surprisingly good chinese buffet sushi the other day. I mean it was still chinese buffet sushi, but definitely a good step in the right direction.

Hey Jezz what are you sleeping habits? exercise habits? what's your diet like?
sleeping habits: i believe i oversleep. usually get in by 11:30pm and sleep well until around 8:30am. this seems to be a bad thing, and generally when i stay up late the night before or wake naturally earlier - 6 or 7 - i have a much better day. i think i'm born to be a late-niter but my partner hates it when i don't come to bed with her, and she needs more sleep than me
exercise: no focused exercise, but i'm on my feet and hauling crap around all day at work and i tend to go for a half an hour walk around the water once or twice a day. i've been thinking of getting a membership at the pool down the road
diet: varies from good to crap-tastic, but we cook for ourselves a lot and the two of us go through a delivered box of fresh fruit and vegies every week. i skip breakfast a lot, or settle for something marginal like peanut butter toast

I know it's a cliche, but a good breakfast will help a bunch.
One trick an old nutritionist told me which my boss also lives by:
First thing you do when you roll out of bed in the morning, get a big glass of water and squeeze half a lemon into it and pound that shit before doing anything. Their reasoning was that a whole bunch of acid hits your empty stomach and your digestive system is like FUUUUUCK and kicks itself in the ass and it amps up your metabolism.
Maybe try setting an alarm for 7:30/8 and get up at the same time every morning? Sleeping too late can kick your circadian rhythm out of whack and make you feel lethargic all day.
does your house get much natural light? Getting a bunch of natural light into your eyeballs in the morning tells your brain to stop producing dopamine, the hormone that makes you sleepy.
that acid thing is a good idea. it would work with like a straight shotsky of squeezed lime, right? just because i love drinking fresh lime juice
the house is fairly bright. limited windows, but all white and a lot of mirrors. we took down the curtains and haven't replaced them with anything yet, much to the people in the adjacent building's daily horror

I think the lemon thing is also about drinking a bunch of water to rehydrate you after sleep, but I guess dumping lime into water would do the same trick.
I tried it with lemon and it was unbearable, but I think only because fresh squeezed lemon is not my kind of flavour
i wanted something for focus and being awake and whatnot a while back but the doctor just recommended red bull
which i guess is a step up from the other doctor who suggested avoiding caffeine
but its like
when i say i always have trouble getting to sleep and then i get drowsy all day and i cant get anything done and then it still takes me ages to get to sleep
and that it has been like this since i was a teenager
or that even when i was like 9 years old i felt like i had sleeping difficulties and asked everybody in my family for advice
a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of milk before bed are not the kind of medical solutions i had in mind
i get the hesitation to bust out the prescriptions but how much do i need to exaggerate things before there is a response that i wouldnt get from some hypothetical sweet old grandmother

If you say "Hey I want to try drugs," or "hey I want to try this drug," your doctor will probably write a prescription as long as he/she doesn't expect any bad reaction or think you plan to abuse it.
Doctors are pretty much just there to say "no that's dumb quit reading WedMD."

If you've had experiences like this with sleep problems, years and years of bad sleep and nobody can relate to you and you get a bunch of half assed advice and nothing works
Ask your GP to refer you to a specialised sleep clinic and go in to have a sleep study.
I did it and guess what they diagnosed me with Parkinson's Disease.
And now that I'm on L-Dompamine, I sleep a million times better. Still have mild insomnia sometimes, but it's not chronic anymore and that's a blessing.
Do it. Talk to people who know what they're talking about.
whats a sleep study
does that cost money
i do not want parkinsons disease
It's like a check for AIDS. You would have it before going in, but you can treat it if you know about it.
A sleep study is where they watch you sleep. Always watching.
Then they tell you what's wrong and propose solutions.
My dad had one done, and now he has a cpapsomethinggorother that keeps him from waking up constantly in the middle of the night gasping for air, so he sleeps better.

you go to a clinic. You've got a private room like a private hospital but it's nice and quiet and reasonably comfortable.
they put a swimming cap on your head with electrodes that see what your brain's up to then they say "Go to sleep!" and close the door.
There's an infrared camera in the corner to record what you're doing too
during one of mine they came in and woke me up a couple times and asked me a few questions, maybe to simulate how easily you fall back to sleep once startled
then when the sun comes up they kick you out!
then a little while later you have an appointment with the specialist who goes over your results and offers treatment if it's needed.

sounds to me like Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome which is entirely treatable.
a piece of advice
actually this is directed to the whole thread:

i don't like going to bed
but i love sleeping
my weekends are when i get my most winks in
