Hello friends, lovers, esteemed guests, strange lurkers, those who join us prior to bathing:
It is time for the SECOND annual
Cookie XXX-change
Rules:
1. You must live in the United States OR Canada have a US person with an address willing to accept a package for you. Sorry, but the customs for international mail + food makes this not really work. If someone in Australia or somewhere wishes to coordinate handling matching those, I can alter these rules)
NOTE: If you do live in Canada but don't have a US address to ship them to, PM MULLY with all the info and if enough Canuckians sign up, she will pair up that portion.
2. You must have a valid mailing address which someone can mail you a package in the November - late December time frame. So if you're going to be gone from Dec 15 - January 15, give the address you will be at... or two (I.e. Address A up until Dec 19, Address B Dec 20-Jan 15)
3. You must be willing to EITHER bake something for a recipient OR pay a baker with extra time (more on that below) to create something for you.
4. I WILL keep track of who is paired with whom and anyone not sending will not participate in the future. Too many people got screwed out of gifts in Secret Satans. That won't happen here. If you aren't sure you'll be able to make something and mail it OR aren't sure you can afford $15 to pay a baker to send something for you, THEN DON'T SIGN UP.
5. Like other gift exchanges, this is a SECRET exchange. You won't know who your partner is.
Even if you have myself or one of the other bakers make something for you, you can send a note/card/whatever to be sent along with your baked goods to your recipient to personalize it.
How do I get in this?!?!
Sign up by sending an email to
cookiexxxchange@gmail.com containing the following information in the following format:
Subject: FORUM HANDLE
1. First + Last Name
2. Full Mailing Address
3. Any allergies or "Things you don't like " - this will be passed on to your Cookie XXX-change partner.
4. One of the following choices:
I will bake for my XXX-change partner,
OR
I will pay $15 for my XXX-change partner,
OR
I will bake AND I have room for ____ additional people.
EXAMPLE:
Subject: neville
1 Neville Longbottom
2. 123 Hogwarts Lane
Gryffindor Tower #1
Hogwarts Castle, England, 1212111111
3. I am allergic to jellies and dislike things which taste of dirt.
4. I will bake!
If you choose the third option, please specify how many people you would be able to bake for. Assume 1 dozen cookies (or a smaller amount if baking something larger) per person. The limit is 10 "extra's" to keep someone from committing to too much. You may speak with your baker once paired up to find out exactly how much they want ($15 is the suggested, but they may ask for less, depending on their price of the cookies) - this is high enough to include money so they can ship their baked goods out as well.
You may NOT ask for more than $15, so don't try.
Once you send the email (and it's done right), you'll be added to the list.
Again, realize I work and have school so it may take a bit of time depending on when you send it.

Granted, Vermi's hobo brownies at PAX East were awesome.
Yeah, I would strongly suggest everyone send fedex/ups with tracking.
There's no "ban" for not sending, but since it seemed to hit a lot of people, it seems like tracking numbers is a good way to keep tabs on what is happening... and make sure the delivery folks aren't being jerks and eating it all themselves.
Loved it last year
edit: email sent! woooo
Is this.. you must live in the US or Canada or have a US addressed-person willing to accept a package for you ... or is it ... you must live in the US or be a canadian with someone in the US willing to accept a package for you?
I'm pretty sure that if you live in Canada, you gotta have a US person willing to accept the package.
Due to, you know, customs laws with shipping food internationally.
I don't know, I've shipped cookies across before and had no problem. Apparently if it's homemade they don't care. I don't know why. (This is what the post office told me.)
Oh well. :S ..un.. unless I could be matched up with another Canadian if there's a surplus of us!? Worst case scenario, I say "HEY DYSLEEPER. BAKE FOR ME, I'LL BAKE FOR YOU."
Dru and I may collaborate, we'll see
Time to get into my 'baking zone'
I was matched up with an American last year, in both directions (giving & receiving), and there were no problems that I'm aware of.

" OR pay a baker with extra time (more on that below) to create something for you."
more people must eat the delicious seven layer bar
be sure to notify your local hospital first though
what are theyyyy
This instant, I tells ya!!
except there are seven of them
but just as evil
I did this with Blake last year.
It was fun! I made peanut butter cup nuggets and he made me chocolate chip with peanuts I think and oat raisin. they were awesome.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
3 shipments just disappeared
I had to resort to paying a bakery to courier shit to my dude.
Surprise surprise, packaging folk steal perishables.
Neville, if you want to add to the OP that I'll do that, it's up to you -- I don't mind taking care of the Canadians!
done!
superstar (that is what you are)
and then I noticed there was one already
and then I got angry
because I know what this is called
goddamn you sunk cost fallacy, go away
hopefully there are more people who have signed up than are on the OP list right now!
I think quite a few people are convinced they'll lose their packages if they send any
