PAX* Forum Secret Santa 2010

EMAILS HAVE BEEN SENT!!! MAY THE STALKING BEGIN!

What is?
Just what it sounds like. It's a Secret Santa between your fellow PAX brethren (and sistren). Everyone who signs up will be randomly assigned another participant. You are then tasked to buy that person a gift. As a recipient, you should leave a few hints in your signature (maybe an amazon wishlist link) as to what sort of interests you have.

Rules and Info
  • International people are allowed. If you would prefer not to get an international person, indicate thusly in your signup post. But depending on how many international folks show up, you may get one anyway. IF YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT OR WILL NOT SEND SOMETHING INTERNATIONALLY, DON'T SIGN UP. For the purposes of pairing, Canada will not count as international.
-International Shipping Links: USPS, Customs Forms
-Tips for shipping in and out of Canada
-Remember to allow extra shipping time when shipping outside of your home country

  • Recommended gift value is $15-20. Feel free to spend as much as you want, just be aware that the more you spend, the less likely you will receive a gift of equal value. Also, homemade/handmade gifts are allowed (no food please).
  • ABSOLUTE FINAL DEADLINE FOR GIFTS RECEIVED IS JANUARY 15! PEOPLE WHO DO NOT SEND GIFTS BY JANUARY 15 WILL BE BANNED, PERMANENTLY. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you are not sure you will be able to send a gift, then don't sign up.

  • Do not complain about your gift, conversely, try to send something you think the other person will like.

  • You MUST post pictures of your gift when you receive it. No exceptions.

  • UNLESS SPECIFIED AS SOMETHING THEY WOULD LIKE, PLEASE DO NOT SEND NSFW GIFTS.

  • CAN I SHIP SOMETHING STRAIGHT FROM AMAZON OR SOMETHING?
Yes you can, and it's a good idea to shop at your person's home country's Amazon site (www.amazon.ca for instance) if you want to save a bit on shipping. Be sure and provide a note upon checkout saying who you are, though!

  • BE SURE AND SHIP WELL IN ADVANCE
Get your act together NOW and try and ship your stuff by Dec 10th or so to make sure it arrives before the crazy Christmas rush that always happens at the latter half of December.
SHOPPING TIPS

Interesting Shops:
www.thinkgeek.com - general geeky stuff. Shipping can be high so be sure and shop around. Google for discount coupons.
www.play-asia.com - junk from Japan. Nearly everyone likes the little toys they have. Google for discount coupons.
www.buy.com - one of the best places to get used games, books and DVDs.
www.square-enix-shop.com - for that Final Fantasy or RPG fan.
www.bigbadtoystore.com - the absolute best place to get action figures.
http://knittedsteel.etsy.com/ - chainmail accessories by Liger
www.etsy.com - Land of hand made cool shit.

Things to Note:
360 points are not cross-country compatible.
Most consoles are region restricted. The Nintendo DS is a notable exception to this, though.

Stalking / General Shopping Help:
If your Santee has a unique forum handle, be sure and Google it. You never know where else s/he might post.
Keep an eye on the systems he owns if you're thinking of buying a game.
If your Santee has a PS3, don't forget it can play Blu-Ray movies.
If your Santee has a XBox Gamer ID, it's not hard to figure out what games he has / likes.
Be creative! We have lives other than video games! Is your Santee taking up an instrument? Does he want to start painting? Does he like tabletop games? Does he seem to like cars? This is your chance to get an interesting gift they hadn't thought of, yet!
Does your Santee have a favorite game, ever? Consider something related to that! Toys, old complete copies, art books, etc. are always fun.
Do you have something in your city / state / country that your Santee doesn't have access to?
Interesting candies, foods, posters / prints, and other various knick-knacks make for good box-stuffers.
If your Santee has a unique name, you never know what you'll find out by Googling him or her! They might have a twitter or Facebook account!

Also, for the Santees, make yourselves easy to stalk. Make your Facebook and Twitter profiles public, and don't forget to post wishlist links in your signature and here in this thread.
If a lot of this looks familiar to those of you who post elsewhere on these boards, it's because I stole most of this OP from Moe, who stole it from previous Secret Santa threads on other subforums. Still, I think that's everything. Start signing up, people!

Sorry for my earlier slip-up! Here is my santa letter, now in the correct place! XD

    Dear Santa,

I have been a very good girl this year...or at least I have been a very good girl as far as anyone knows. Last year I received some comics, which was super awesome. I am in love with Batman, but already own quite a lot of Batman paraphernalia, heehee. Though I wouldn't mind something creative, if you are feeling crafty Santa. I could use a silly warm hat for the winter. Speaking of the winter, I love tea on those cold upcoming nights, particularly Earl Grey. Hot. If you get the reference I just made, that would be something on my list as well. I am a painter, and by "I am a painter" I mean I like art that involves making a big mess all over the place. I have recently gotten into original Star Trek, and could use a communicator to go with my phaser. I very much enjoy board games, and could use additions to my collection like zombie dice or strange silly obscure games.

Hmm...I think that's about it Santa. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I promise to leave you some Oreos and milk this year. Though I can't promise I won't eat it all in the morning.

    Love,

    Dear Santa,

I have an X360 a Wii a DS and an awesome PC. 90% of my gaming is done on PC. I have pretty much every new game that's out, so if you're going to buy me a game it's probably a good idea to get one from GOG or some indie game. I like old school games of pretty much all genres. If its one you think i should play i'll probably like it.

Random geeky gifts are awesome and I may indeed have a thinkgeek wishlist. I think the top item on my list is the aeropress coffee maker (maybe some awesome coffee to go with it?). That's not meant to be a list of everything I want on thinkgeek, just a general guide of some things I have interest in.

Home made stuff is always awesome.

I already have the zombie survival guide, and World War Z but other than that Zombie stuff is cool.

Anything awesome locally to you that I cant get up here in Canada is another good idea.

    Dear Santa,

I've had a fantastic year, been generally awesome, and made some great friends. In return for upholding my part of the bargain I'd like to give you some ideas on my interests.

While I love video games, I'm very particular on the ones I buy, so please refrain from getting me any. I do however love random board games, because my friends and I have a board game night on a regular basis. My big regret is that I havent had a chance yet to pick up any of the "nerdier" ones like Settlers, or apples to apples, which both are alot of fun.

Outside of gaming, Im interested in getting into microbrewing, and am currently saving up the money to buy the equipment, so that I can start to make my own beer.

Also, I collect zombie stuff, and ties/clothing with sailor jerry/ed hardy tattoo art on them. I could also use a fancy cane (Approximately 38ish" long, Im a tall guy with a bad knee.) Or a fancy scarf.

Apparel wise, I dont wear a large amount of t-shirts, I tend to stick to button down shirts (17 x 34/35), or polos (Medium or Large), and fancy hats.

I also love steampunk stuff, and 50's style.

As a note though: I have the following go-to items for someone of my interest: All of the classics redone with monsters (Pride Prejudice and Zombies, Sense and Sensibilities and Sea Monsters, etc) and both of Max Brooks books. So if you go the zombie route, thats right out.

And finally, I work in a tea shop, so I've grown to be a big fan of tea, so I could use a nice electric kettle or a nice teapot.

Thanks so much Santa keep being awesome,
    -ZHH

P.S. You can always find me on twitter @Zerohourhero where I randomly talk about things I like or want, I dont check my facebook so much anymore, so thats right out, and on occasion you can watch my website SFX-360 to see what Im looking forward to.

    Dear Santa,

I am a very good boy and I do not deserve coal at all, aside from those countless monster killings in World of Warcraft. But you know I am an avid gamer, as you are reading this on this site, for I am always accepting of geeky present.

Something from newegg would be great for the PC, a gift certificate will bring even more praise. But I am a good boy, and am always flexible with whatever anyone gives me or I give them.

I play on a good budget-custom PC and upgrades and/or modifications would always help, I am also planning on buying the new Xbox with Kinect. So anything in those fields will be awesome.

I game primarily on World of Warcraft and on the Steam network (Garry's Mod, Portal, Left 4 Dead 1/2, Team Fortress 2, Plants Vs Zombies, etc.), any gifts for/from those are nice as well.

    Always will believe,

    Dear Santa,

So it's that time again, eh? You know that I'm still your biggest fan, right?

    ... RIGHT?

As you no doubt know because you make your list and check it twice, I've been a good boy this year. I take comfort in the fact that you know when I'm sleeping and when I'm awake. Thanks to the cameras I had installed in your house last year, I now know when you're sleeping and when you're awake too: we have so much in common! Isn't this a great friendship? Also, you should really do something about that terrible wallpaper in your bedroom, it's so last century.

Anyways Santa, I'm a simple man. I'd love anything that you have to give. If you somehow find some kind of Final Fantasy VI related memorabilia, that would be an ace present... but I don't know what the odds of that is, and understandably so! It's been almost 20 years, can you believe it?

So barring that, I'd be up for any kind of interesting tech toy, tool, or gadget you can get your hands on! Also thanks to your wonderful gift last year, I have access to play Nintendo and Super Nintendo games again: but I have hardly any games! If you've got some lying around and you don't want them anymore, I'd be glad to take one or two off your hands!

Lastly, my Steam ID is VThornheart, and I'm always up for a new game of any sort. I'm open to anything, but I must admit that my system is old and janky and I might not be able to run the latest games.

Thanks so much Santa! You're the best! Come over and hang out sometime, okay? You can see the shrine I've made to you - it's totally adorable and not creepy at all! I mean it!

    Dear Santa,

This is my first year doing the PAX Secret Santa, and this spring is going to be my second time at PAX! I am a huge gamer/nerd, I love all things related to gaming/computers/geek culture. I work in the Computer Repair center at my school, I am the classic IT nerd.
I am mostly a PC gamer, but I do own all 3 consoles so I do get around. >.O I play WoW a lot, and would love anything related to it. I like comics, and graphic novels. I also love to read fantasy/sci-fi books.
I would love ANY N64 games, I'm trying to rebuild my collection! Thank you for reading this Santa.

    Dear Santa,

It's that time of year again, and I am very excited about it!! It's my first time doing this Santa thing on here and I think I am most excited about the part I will play in giving to another lucky forumer. However, there are some things that I do enjoy and would like to share with you.

I am a pretty simple person to gift for because I do not expect much. I work a physically exhausting job so anything that is deemed to help with relaxation is awesome. I have also found how much I enjoy foot massages, so I wouldn't mind one of those new foot things you use in the shower that scrub your toes.

I like little gadgets and toys. I love Doctor Who and Star Wars. (Mostly I someday hope to get a Sonic screwdriver like the 10th doctor had) I love Sci Fi. I grew up watching the hokey B movies with my Dad. Back when the Sci Fi channel was still cool, I'd watch the Star Trek cartoon on Saturday mornings. I loved old Nickelodean too and watched a lot of You Can't Do That on Television and Mr. Wizard.

I recently just bought my first Nerf gun, (A Maverick) my kitten loves playing with it as much as I like going around and shooting the darts at things. I do enjoy some games. I play Guitar Hero a bit, and other various games on Steam. I do, however, have an aversion to FPS games because they make me nauseous. It sucks since so many people I know play those. I did play WoW for awhile, but haven't bought any gamecards in awhile because I wanted to have the time to get my money's worth.

If you've known me and Yoshamano, you know we like to drink occasionally. I have always desired one of those nice liquor sets with the glasses. It doesn't even matter if it's not booze I'd normally drink because I like collecting nice glassware.

Well, those are a few things I can think of to give you some ideas. I hope that it has been helpful. *hugs Santa* I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and New Year.

Dear Satan... I mean Dear Santa,

I have not been good. I actively frighten small chinese children and most chinese adults. I get into trouble regularly. I'm not a bad person, per se, but I have so many opportunities.

    However,

If there was for instance, a small bribe to be good, I would consider amending my ways for next year. I am considered 'easily amused' so it shouldn't be difficult to set me on the right track. If you think to yourself "My 6 year old niece would love this" then you can probably substitute 'chaosisorder' for niece. But not for 'this'. Because your six your old niece might love me, but her parents would hate my swearing. Oh yeah, that should be on my naughty list too.

Anyway, things that would certainly brighten the chances for a nicer, kinder chaos include:

    - warm things - siberians winds reach here so scarves, hats, socks and mittens are AWESOME especially if handmade
    - Cooking gadgets (a pineapple corer has been my favorite new toy this year)
    - Steam 'casual' style games (I'd really like Poker Night and I totally promise it won't influence me to be more bad) ID is chaosisorder
    - Anything dinosaur. Like really.
    - Books (I read just about anything, especially dystopian, zombie and commodity books and anything recently published (all of 2010) is safe to get me since books are quite difficult to get here) and I have a sony ereader
    - Obviously I love PA and geekery, so anything from ThinkGeek or the Merch store would be awesomesauce

I'm pretty sure the customs agents would butt rape you Santa over the following, so please don't send it:

    - Porn
    - Religious propaganda
    - Anything anti-communism (or pro-tibet, including most tour books unfortunately)
    - Foods

    Thank you Santa :)

    Dear Santa,
It's been a pretty good year for me actually. Finally started getting back into the habit of school, and all that nonsense. Settled some qualms with people, etc. I've been trying to be a good boy, but y'know, it's hard. Anyway, I think I'll just get straight to the point and give you my list. My only console right now is a PS3 (which I love dearly). I should be getting a new computer in the next few weeks, hopefully one that doesn't suck like my last one. I wouldn't mind some steam games, if you feel like it. My steam name is SpawnOfDagon.
I also play Magic. Like CRAZY. So you could get me some boosters, or a fatpack, I would be grateful. I love LOST, so LOST related paraphernalia/collectibles would make me happy.
But, if you really, really, want to make me happy, you could get me an anime figurine, because i'm a lonely little weeaboo. I love Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Death Note, NGE, and Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts.
If you can't afford these/are too embarrassed to be found purchasing anime figurines, you can get me literally anything off of thinkgeek. I love little gadgets and t-shirts (size XL), and wouldn't mind a WoW time card as well.

    LOVE YOU SANTA!

    Dear Santa,

While my Thanksgiving isn't even gone yet I am here writing you a letter to inform you that I have been a good lad this year.

I know you probably have a good idea of what I am interested in but I figured I'd it'd be better to be safe than sorry. I am a computer and gaming geek but I have both covered extremely well. I am however really bad about getting those little things I would love to have but just can't seem to push the checkout button on. Yes, I'm talking about my ThinkGeek wishlist.

There's quite a few things on there. I will say this, I am interested in something I can use on a regular basis throughout the year. The things I favor on that list are the things I'd use with food and beverage. I would be ever so thankful for anything on that list.

However, if you were to decide to make me something I will say that I am a HUGE fan of beanies. I have a big head that is 24 inches around and from the top of my head to the middle of my ear is 7.5 inches. If you aren't very crafty and you'd like to stray away from a ThinkGeek purchase than I am most welcome to most anything geeky. I love Munchkin but haven't bought any of the expansions yet.

    Thanks Santa :)

    Dear Santa,

What a year! Thank you so much for sending me a wonderful, brand new husband and the ability to see the end of the grad school tunnel in the distance there.

As you know, things have been a bit hectic with school, but come June I will have my Master's in Library and Information Science with a focus on young adult librarianship. So, if you can't guess, I love books. Right now I'm working very very hard to lose weight and get in shape so books about working out and cooking healthy foods would be awesome.

Unfortunately I don't have much time for gaming but we occasionally host game nights with friends. I love Munchkin and have every single expansion but none of the other sets.

I also enjoy relaxing in our huge bathtub after a hard run so bath products made out of essential oils (I'm allergic to perfumes) are always a-ok in my book. (Sandalwood is my favorite scent ever) I hope this gives you some fun ideas Santa. Really, I'm a very simple girl who gets stupidly excited over any sort of gift, both giving and receiving. I'm sure whatever you send me will make me squee and bounce around like a little kid. n.n

    Dear Santa,
As you are no doubt aware, Christmas is my FAVORITE HOLIDAY EVER and as far as I'm concerned it starts in the middle of October and doesn't end until January. Not that I am saying that makes me in any way better than your other, probably somewhat deserving fans. I am just mentioning it.

Anyway since you are the omnipotent Santa Claus, I am not sure what else to mention here. I suppose I can cover my bases by reminding you that I have an Amazon wishlist under my real name, or that while I may be forced to play Alliance I will always be Horde at heart, or that I really like weird tshirts as long as they don't have text on them, or that I LOVE TO BAKE like it is the best thing in the whole world, or that if push comes to shove I will always accept either a platypus or a dragon (platypus preferred). But because you are Santa, you already KNEW all that, right? Right?

    Lots of love,

Dear Santa, sorry about not really believing in you, but i was raised a jew so we got jew things, no tree. ='(

Contrary to what most people think, i am a girl. Most of my time is spent trying not to kill people as a medical student but with my limited free time, i play video games on pc such as Bioshock, l4d2 and Heroes of Newerth. Im supposed to be 26 but i love toys and i still play with legos, board games and the such.
I own a Wii but its mostly used for zelda and mario. Im a huge zelda fan and would appreciate any kind of zelda trinket. I also love Harry Potter and the Back to the Future series.

Im both short and i dont weigh much so its hard to shop for clothing for me. Also, i live in florida so please no winter clothes. Im currently reading the discworld Pratchett books and a bunch of medical texts so please no new books as i dont think i have much space in my brain left.

To summarize, id really really appreciate-
-fun new board games. i currently own a lego one, Khet, apples2apples and cranium which i love.
-video game toys. i own a companion cube plushie, to give you an idea of stuff i like.
-cool candy and food, especially the caffeine kind since it keeps me from killing people. Weird Jones Soda
Flavors! I love to cook things so kitchen stuff is ok.
    - if youre stuck for ideas, i like gift cards too. poor medical students do not scoff at gift cards, especially to geeky places.

Thank you in advance, santa. Ill leave you cookies this year, promise

ps- i might be making an amazon wishlist under my name, check back for updates!

    Dear Santa,

My humblest apologies for not giving you your fair credit over the years. One way or another you've always managed to come through for me somehow. And for that, I am ever grateful. I'm afraid however that what I really want for Christmas, you won't be able to give me. Nothing to do with you, but it's not something you can really help me with.

Baring that, I have a lovely (and ever evolving) list of things that you can give me conveniently located over yonder. ;-)

As said, that list evolves frequently and I'm constantly adding things to it, so check frequently as you make your decision. As you'll see, I love beer and beer related things as well as those lovely video games that I haven't had the money to invest in and I also enjoy looking quite dapper too. :D I would so appreciate anything on the list and don't be concerned about making the "wrong" decision (as if there really can be with these things), You certainly can't go wrong with me. :)

    Dear santa,

I am sure you are well aware of my plans to dominate the world one day. A man with an intellect and skill set such as yours would make a valuable ally in my quest for domination. Now if i am to to eventually carry out my plot i could use some items. Plotting takes up a good portion of my day but when i do unwind i enjoy reading with my Sony e-reader (prs-300) sadly it lacks any accessories currently but i am sure that could change. Now lets move on to my furnishings i have found the walls of my lab are rather dull. I am sure that you are well aware of my proclivity of ralph steadman and his unique art work. It nearly goes without saying since i enjoy steadman i as well enjoy the writing and all things related to steadmans muse dr. hunter s. Thompson. Now that we have the frivolous items out of the way i get to the work oriented items. Sadly the "powers that be" have caught wind of my plans and placed me on certain watch lists. You how ever are not on such watch lists so if i were to drop a few hints such as i occasionally need to not breath the fumes created by my experiments you might pick pick me up such a gift. The environment of my lab as well becomes uninhabitable at times and it hampers my research it troubles me and i wish i had a way to rectify this problem. I hope i am not imposing if i ask for one final set of its but watches and lasers are a must for any mad scientist.

    Dear Santa...

I’ve been a very good girl this year. I’m nice to everybody.. except snifit, but I’m sure that can be forgiven.
I actually have a really hard time answering the question “what do you want for Christmas.” I have a hard time just asking for things I would like, but I’m going to do my very best for you Santa, because I’d like your job to be as easy as possible.

    - I love cute nifty things!
    - I love Zelda, Pac-Man and Cthulhu, so nifty trinkets with those themes would always be welcome.
    - I love crafty things from etsy.com
    - I’m going to Boston in march for some nerd thing, so gloves that will allow me to still use my iphone would be pretty nifty. Please keep in mind though, I’m kinda little, as are my hands.
    - Sadly, I only have a PS3, but you can find me on there under Chibi_Tzar
    - However, I do have a steam account too!! I like computer games! You can find me there as SmallLady
    - I also like LAN parties... But it’s getting really cold in BigRed’s garage, so I could use some really warm, and maybe even geeky slippers to keep my feet warm and protected from the cold cement floor!
    - I also really like board games!! I own lots, but one I recently played and loved was betrayal at house on the hill! I’d love to have that one.
    - I have a think geek wish list, but ordering from there either requires you ship it to yourself, then me, as packages via DHL always get hit with customs and duties when crossing the border, or you can ship it to somebody who can give it to me in Seattle. As I go there every month or so. https://www.thinkgeek.com/brain/gimme.cgi?wid=81dc2708b
    - My teapot broke last month, so I could use a new one for making my delicious loose leaf teas!

So I hope that helps give you some ideas Santa, but really, I’m pretty pleased with anything :D

    Much <3

    Dear Sir,

I write this letter on behalf of my client, MelesMeles, in regards to the upcoming festive season as per the terms of our settlement agreement, dated 25-12-2000.

First, I wish to state in no uncertain terms that my client is strongly of the view that he has been good this year. The incident with the toaster and the penguin should be overlooked as “childish behaviour” (Article 23(5) of the North Pole Convention). Furthermore, all events which took place at PAX Prime, specifically but not limited to the events on the evening of the Tri-Wizard Drinking Tournament, are asserted to fall under the “all work and no play” exceptions (Article 18(5)(c) North Pole Convention). All other alleged incidents of naughtiness are denied, especially the ones that actually happened.

It is in nobody’s interest to progress the “naughty or nice” decision to the First Tier Naughtiness Tribunal, as that would involve a lengthy discovery process and press attention. My client has recently become aware of some behaviour on your part which might inevitably be made public if a tribunal hearing were necessary. Mr Jimmy Boyd’s deposition in particular, in which he claims “I saw mommy kissing Santa,” is deeply disturbing. Furthermore, there are allegations of kidnapping on behalf of Ms Olivia Olson, who is recorded asking you to “Please bring my baby to me.” This is deeply disturbing, and we hope that you allowed Ms Olson’s gentleman to make his own decisions about whether he joined her for the holidays.

In any event, we have no desire to make this information public. But if you were to enter a preliminary finding of “naughty”, then it would seem inevitable that this information would come out in the course of a tribunal appeal. It therefore seems to be in everyone’s interest that you enter a finding of “nice” and commence distribution of presents forthwith.

With regards to the distribution of presents, my client of course leaves this entirely in your capable hands. However, my client would remind you that over the past few years, there have been a number of decisions which can only be described as sub-optimal. I refer of course to the Bobble Hat Incident (2003), the Case of the Ugly Beer Themed Shirt (2004), and the Flimsy USB Thumb Drive Debacle (2006).

To that end, my client would like to remind you of a few of his interests and hobbies, in the hope that we can avoid any unpleasantness in the upcoming season. He is a keen fan of Doctor Who, and although he has all the DVDs has always craved a scarf in the style of Tom Baker’s old enormous scarf or a Dalek figurine. Additionally, he is a keen player of Dungeons & Dragons, and has the core 4e books but is always looking for expansion books or sets of dungeon tiles. He also has been thinking a lot about playing Dawn of War II for the PC (yes, I am aware that my client is a late adopter, and essentially is a failure as a gamer).

In addition to all these things, my client has a love of Cthulhu and all Cthulhu related items (with the exception of Cthulhu dice, which was awful). Fluffy Cthulhus would always be appreciated.

I would also remind you that my client is an avid cook, and has been lusting after the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook for some time. He also likes incense holders and anything buddhist (especially little statuettes).

On behalf of myself and my client, I offer my gratitude for your cooperation and consideration during this busy time for you and your organisation.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Huey Lewey Dewey

    Dear Father Christmas,

Blessings be upon you on this season of much merriment and good will to all gentle folk who reside in Christendom. For it is indeed the time of cheer and celebration as we bring this year to a close. And what a year it has been good sir! Much has happened and much needs to be shared before it expires and we make our way into the land of 2011.

Now as is tradition I must plead my case for being a man who is in great standing with his fellow subjects. I can assure you sir that over the past year my exploits have been nought but altruistic in nature. I can therefore declare in a somewhat forthright manner to you that I have been 'good', if you can excuse the rather base adjective to describe ones demeanor.

Continuing on with this traditional theme, I believe I am now entitled to some form of remittance by way of reward for my efforts in being 'good'. In light of this I request that you consider the following facts concerning my likes and dislikes before proffering any items to me by way of gratitude for my deeds over the past 12 months. Mark the following good sir:

    * I have recently rediscovered my love of tabletop games ever since being exposed to Munchkin while at a fayre in the Americas in September. Whilst I have purchased said game and its expansions since I would like to acquire further such games. Although be mindful of the fact that I do also have the World of Warcraft Adventure game as well as the rather excellent Forbidden Island. Then again being omniscent you would know that already, wouldn't you?

    * Whilst my former house master would balk at such things, I have also delved into the world of pen and paper role playing games. Most notably Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition. Having just started to participate in a campaign, I would most like any of the figurines that are used to symbolise players and non-players during play as I plan to create my own campaign. Any pre-constructed modules would also not go amiss either.

    * Dice sir! Yes I crave dice for I have none at present and one cannot call themeselves a table top game player until that have a bulging bag of dice. At least that is what the propriator at the local dice emporium explained to me. I'm not sure I should trust him though.

    * Whilst I have a penchant for video games, I do live in the Old World and hence any sent to me from foreign lands carry the risk of not working. This is especially the case for the Xbox 360 and Wii. There is also the issue of me tending to procuring them upon their arrival at my local software emporium so it's best not to send me any of those.

    * As for gadgets, I'm not too interested in contraptions that offer a modicum of entertainment value for a brief moment only to become dust collectors. So if a gadget is being considered, think carefully of its practical use before selecting it.

    * Reading material is of great interest. Subject matters such as high fantasy, Sci-Fi and the history of video games are much favoured, although high quality contemporary fiction is also a genre that I enjoy.

    * Attire is not something I would recommend sir. I have many gaming/geek t-shirts and quite frankly find it hard to wear them thanks to the climate I live in. I recommend therefore you avoid such items if you would be so kind.

I believe that is enough for you to be getting along with. I shall doth my cap and bid you farewell good sir!

    Kindest regards,

    Kropotkin

    Dear Santa,

Are you and Doctor Light brothers? I've seen my fair share of sprites from Megaman, and you guys look VERY similar.

It's been a long year, I have traveled many miles and hours, I've attended two PAXes, Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, Book Expo America, E3, Star Wars Celebration, and New York Comic Con. Oh, and I've seen The Protomen some ridiculous amount of times. I have yet to take over the world, but the wheels are still in motion.

I love me some board games, I like scarves, I juggle, and I really like anything I can take with me when traveling. I dislike T shirts, well, I do not dislike them, but I have far too many of them at this point.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

    Dear Santa,

I would like to lodge a complaint, this year has sucked and I recall asking for a "non-sucky year" last xmas. But maybe I gave you too little lead time on that request so I guess I sorta forgive you and am DEFINITELY expecting next year to be non-sucky, or I may just stop believing in you!*

Or if you can't get me that quite yet then maybe you can assuage me by throwing some gifts my way. I like playing games on my DSlite, am always worrying about the impending zombie apocalypse, and I like pokemon (though I own many many pokemon items, so only super unique items puhlease). My fav shows are still SG1, 30 Rock, and Xena and I'm ridiculously excited about TRON coming out this December after my finals (I assume that was your doing, much appreciated!). I'm a rocket scientist, so if you stumble across something brilliantly space-nerdy that would be quite awesome. My favourite type of orbit is a Molniya and my favourite Lagrange point is Earth-Moon 4.

My wishlists are below which are a safe indication of the things I like. I'm a lady, if that wasn't obvious from the number of dresses and women's snow boots on the Amazon list....or my name. Wow, I'm scienced out right now.

Well, thanks Santa. I really enjoyed my gift last year (the pokemon luggage tag is on my back pack right now). I'll try to say hi when you stop by to drop the gifts off, but I'll probably be playing L4D2 and won't notice your arrival/departure.

    Dear Santa,

I haven't written you in ages, mostly because I'm awful at asking for gifts.
I've been a very good boy to my fellow PAXers this year. I attended my very first PAX in Boston last March and met plenty of fantastic people (though I'm not sure who, if any, post here since I wasn't yet a member of this wonderful forum community at that time).

I have been very much in love with the Star Wars expanded universe for years and years, but I already own every EU novel in print.
I also have a significant number of SW minis, so that wouldn't make sense either even though I love them :)
I've recently (within the last year) discovered the "new" Doctor Who series along with Torchwood. They are a growing interest of mine in which I have not yet indulged myself with merch.
I used to be an avid pencil and paper rpg gamer and player of many CCGs but haven't as of late. I would certainly make fantastic use of anything that would reinvigorate my love for those genres along with geeky board games and other dice/card games (I only currently have MTG, the old school SWCCG, old school Marvel Overpower, and some D&D and SW RPG pencil and paper).
I am a card carrying browncoat and love Firefly and most other Whedon creations :)
I also have a love for all things PA and PAX related.
I have an Xbox 360, a PS3, a Wii, and a DS Lite. I typically buy most of the games I want to play for those systems but am always interested in indy games or more obscure titles.
I used to be a more avid PC gamer before the 360 and PS3 offered such a selection of quality HD games. I love all things Valve and certainly play on Steam as much as I can in between other things that keep me busy!

I hope this helps, Santa. If it doesn't, I've also constructed a thinkgeek wishlist for your perusal if additional idea inspiration is necessary.

Really, I'm just thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful community and I would enjoy any creative thought you have completely on your own that has nothing to do with any of the things I've stated here.

Thank you for listening to me ramble on about my interests just to tell you to do whatever you want :)

    Dear Santa,

I'm really easy to please. Games, game related things, or anything that is generally nerdy will usually do the trick. I just moved to colder climates (Seattle from Houston), so warm clothes would also do the trick as well. I'm heavily into chiptunes, and enjoy creating music and modding gameboys, so a cheap gameboy that I can ultimate dismantle would be cool. There's also some really cool stuff at kitsch-bent.com that I could definitely use!! And of course, Penny Arcade stuff is always great. I wouldn't be on these forums if I didn't like that. I'll have wish lists posted in my signature in the near future, but just a search in the forums or on google for my username should give you enough info to use to get me something nice. And if all else fails, I'll gladly accept gift cards!!! :p

    Dear Santa,

I have been a very nice girl this year EVEN to Snifit! And I also plan on leaving you some yummy homemade cookies and milk, not as a bribe of course... just because you are that awesome... >.>

As for things I would like, I am a huge fan of Doctor Who, Final Fantasy (FFVI especially), Alice in Wonderland, anything in the Victorian style steampunk or gothic vein, tabletop gaming, and crazy socks. Nifty and geeky household things would also be extremely awesome, as would general decorative pretties. I have far too many clothes, and am very hard to fit being oddly sized, so t-shirts or clothes in general are likely not a good bet (except the aforementioned socks).

You know why people have eyes in the front? Because they have to move forward to see the landscape in the distance. If you had eyes in back all you could see is your home town getting farther away; you can't move forward like that. If your eyes are in front what you see in the distance keeps getting closer. That's what lets people move forward.

    Dear Santaman,

This year, I kicked zero puppies, slammed no doors on girl scouts, flipped off no boxes of kittens, and only punched one baby in anger. In my defense, the baby was being kind of a dick. I have also really cut down on stealing jokes from other people. Despite all this, I still had a pretty rad year.

In recognition of the enormous personal restraint and strength of character I have shown, I demand as my reward one(1) Christmas Wish, as follows: I want for you to make everyone else on this thread feel like a dick for not asking for a donation to Child's Play instead of their petty material wants. This black satisfaction will keep my dead heart warm for the next year, and possibly for many years to come.

    Dear Santa,
I know you've been getting many fun and witty letters this year, so I hope I won't lose points for not being witty. :( Also, I'm not going to try to claim I was good/bad this year. I have faith that you can make that judgment on your own.

It must be fairly obvious that I'm a geek, gamer, PA fan, but I'm reminding you anyway.
I love Urban Fantasy books like the ones by Rob Thurman, Jim Butcher, Kim Harrisson, and Cassandra Clare. I also enjoy Jim Butcher's more classic fantasy series and am especially interested in owning the graphic novel adaptation of his first Dresdon Files book: Storm Front.
My favorite TV show is The Venture Brothers and I somehow don't seem to own any of the DVDs, so that would be an excellent present. I also love Supernatural and have just recently started watching Doctor Who and Torchwood.
I have long coveted this Penny Arcade shirt (in a large), but still haven't bought it for myself. And did you know the Penny Arcade series DVD set recently came out?
On the game front, I've really only been playing my DS lately, but Wii points are always useful. And I really need to get a copy of Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver soon so I can play with all the cool kids at PAX East. If you happen to have a copy laying around, you can just drop it at my house.

To make it super easy for you, I set up an Amazon wishlist.
I hope this helps you buy me an awesome present. Thank you Santa!

    Dear Santa,

I've been a pretty good boy this year, and I hope you can find some time to read this letter:

I like to play a lot of games, all different ones on my xbox! Unfortunately I've been so busy I haven't bought a single game since Fable 3. So Anything newer than that would be Wonderful!

I have a 360, Wii, and PS3 so games are totally up my alley!

I LOOOOOOVE Zero Punctuation, especially his great t-shirts! I have a few of them already but I could see myself looking snazzy in a grey one... but nothing involving PANTS because I already have that one! If not a t-shirt, a Hoodie would be super cool too... all of which should be at least a XXL since I like milk and cookies too! His stuff is all on www.splitreason.com .I like Penny-arcade shirts too, just not ones with Classy ladies or Wil Wheaton. The bottom line is, I love t-shirts as long as they're nerdy or geeky!

I saw the 11.5 anniversary book at PAX East... that would be super amazing too!!!I sure would love to see what's inside that!

I also like Magic the Gathering, though It's been harder for me to play recently.

anything nerdy or gamer-y would make me super happy

Any of these things would be great, and seeing you have so many people to consider. I hope you end up reading my letter!

    Dear Penthouse Magazine:

So I'm the headmaster of this all-girl school...

    Er, wrong forum.

    Dear Santa:

This year has been busy to say the least. I'm in the last year of my graduate program, which entails a 20 hour/week internship on top of me already working full time, as well as keeping up on my class work. Strangely enough, it's been fun. As a result, I haven't been able to keep current with any of the games, but with chronic tendinitis, it's a pain in the ass (or arms) to play games. So, what the hell do I like?

I love reading. As noted on my amazon list, I'm on a big mental health counseling kick. Yes, I'm that much of a book nerd, but I enjoy it. I'm also into board games, but don't have a lot of games. I'd love to get some two player board games. I have the basic board games (apples to apples, munchkin, etc etc), but nothing beyond that. Again, I have some board game suggestions on my amazon list, but feel free to get games not on that list. I also play Magic, but just casually. If you have any cards that you'd like to get rid of, that would be a great gift, but don't bother buying booster packs.

I'm a big Dr. Who fan, and I <3 the older Final Fantasy games (anything from FF9 on down...except FF7 and FF8...favorite one is FF6). I'd be thrilled to have any sort of collectibles.

If you're gonna get any t-shirts/sweat shirts, I'm a XL.

As mentioned, here is my Amazon list as well as my Thinkgeek list. Really though, I'll be happy with pretty much anything.

    Dear Santa,

Sorry I did not get to this earlier, to be honest I just felt about about writing anything to ask. I know it's not helping you out, it's just the way I am.

All I can say is that I'm a hard core geek at heart, but time does not permit me to indulge in all things that I could potentially enjoy. I often hold back on spending just because of that.

In other words, I'm late to the party on many, many things since the past few years, in fact it would take a lot less time to talk about the stuff I've had time to discover than suggest things I've been itching to know more about. PAX is about to become my yearly pilgrimage to replenish myself.
EDIT: Re-reading this post it looks like I'm just making things worse, so here are my current interests:
    - Steam is holding most of my time of late, even revisiting "backlog stuff". iPhone, PC and 360 games are filled to the brim, even though I don't have time to play that much
    - I like reading. A lot. But it's all serious stuff of late. In fact I did not read anything really geeky in a while.
    - I'll come back if I can think of anything, but I think most of the posts I made on the PAX forums should give hints - including the threads I did not participate in (hint hint) because I never really touched the stuff as of yet

And who says it has to be "shopping"?

I remember a great secret santa gift a while back form the PA Forums. It was all hand me downs, but the contents told much about the stranger who shared the same passions I did, and that gave a lot of weight to the objects themselves. And the stuff was a spot on hit. :)

    I hope this helps!

    Dear Santa,

Last year's socks were AMAZING, it's just too bad they wore out so quickly because I was wearing them all the time. Warm socks are always appreciated because it's been getting flippin' cold in Southern California these past few years.
Anyways, this year was sort of a downer, as I didn't get to go to either PAXen, and since my college career is winding down, it's been a non-stop stream of work. The copious amounts of paper and ink I've been using are definitely helping, but the good papers for the big honkin' printer (Epson Stylus 1400) I got for my birthday are running low. Can't you do anything about paper cost?
I'm also pretty easy to please. Those caffeine pops last year helped at crunch time, I still have a few for those really stressful times. I've got a PS3, PSP and a kickass gaming PC (links/info in sig), but I also have a massive backlog, so unfortunately any games would probably sit unplayed for at least a year, if not more.
I also like t-shirts, but again, I have so many that the shirt would be worn once in a six month span.

I do have a thinkgeek wishlist, but would much prefer any type of nifty items you think I should have. Useful/interesting before hip/cool!

Have a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, and may you spread cheer to the masses.

    Dear Santa, LLC,

I have tried to be a good boy this year, though things have been really difficult for me this year. If you could just give me about $120K to pay off my student loans, I'd be in your debt. Anyway, I really enjoy music and dancing, and I want to do more. I used to be part of my university's ballroom dance competition team, and I will hopefully be getting a job teaching social ballroom. I made up a thinkgeek wishlist to give you some ideas. I own a DS and enjoy puzzle games. I wear a size large in t-shirts. Aside from games and music, I am an aspiring YouTuber and want to do more with vlogging and editing audio and video. I have a decent headset for chatting and such, but it's not really appropriate for vocal recording (I can sing and beatbox, and I arrange music using Finale 2009).

I hope that helps you out.

    Hi Santa,
I know we've had our differences in the past, but I think it's time we put all that "not real" nonsense behind us. If you can be forgiving, I can certainly overlook the creepy stalker overtones in the hit song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". Now that we've cleared the air, Santa, let's do some catching up! I'm much older now than I was when you visited me last, so a few things have changed. For instance, I love to drink beer, and experimenting with different types is one of my favorite hobbies. Drinking Rum and Whiskey is fun for me too, and anything alcohol related (like books about shots or mixed drinks) piques my interest. But I still love video games Santa, so anything video game themed is usually a big hit with me! I have an XBL account, and occasionally I buy games from the arcade (just sayin'). I'm a big fan of card games like Flux or Munchkin (even though I only own the original Munchkin), board games like Settlers of Catan or Apples to Apples, and lately I've been thinking about picking up a copy of Savage Worlds. And Santa, I know it can be hard to buy for someone who is practically a stranger now, so if you get stuck you can always reference my brand new wish-list at Think Geek to get some new ideas. I know you're real busy Santa, so thanks for reading my letter to you!

    Someone Who Still Believes,
    Caelesto

In all likelihood, this is my fault. If the current situation is not my fault, please let me know as soon as possible so that I may rectify this oversight. Thank you.

Well I don't know about you but I already bought the gifts I'm giving :). I'll hold off for a bit so it lands a bit closer to Christmas.
