This is it. It isn't because of the pit of hate thing, that was almost ten years ago and I doubt Mike even remembers it. To the extent that I can speak for them, it's a case of
1. They might simply not be into forums that much. A lot of people aren't.
2. Hanging out with people who see you as a celebrity is often really awkward. Even I have a bad time of it sometimes, it's why I'm never on MSN messenger any more and why I'm very careful who I hang out with in real life.
There's no secret drama, Mike is going around saying "fucking forumers, calling my wife names in 2001...". It's just a thing.

Only like two people are. It's inevitable. Everything you do will make a few people think you're an asshole. You can't avoid it, you can just make sure they're the right people.
