Man, I love that movie. The themes about the bad side of corporate america and the commercials are fantatstic.

Interesting Commando trivia - the sequel, which Arnold refused to do, eventually became Die Hard.

those guys are irish, not scottish

the song is sort of a rejection of the gangster culture springing up in their poor area of ireland, where they are often mocked because they're "so poor they just ride around on horses"

and they're like "fuck yeah i ride on a horse, better than being some low life thug so i can get a subaru"

Have you seen Prince of Darkness? It's one of his more obscure movies, but one of my favorites. So fucking weird.

Also, I give Starz mad cred for getting him to do some more moviemaking before he dies; Pro-Life, with Ron Perlman; pretty fucking awesome.

Dammit, I just ended up paying 7 quid for some French raspberry jam. It was one of those situations where I had misread the price (I thought it was about 2.5 pounds, which turns out to refer to 250 grams), then felt too silly to put it back on the shelf once I got to the till. It looks dammed good though and should go well with the bread I purchased.

So you're going to need quite a few loaves a bread now is what you're saying.
Or just a spoon, if he's feeling decadent.

I do feel kind of decadent, yes. The bakery where I got the bread and jam had pretty neat stuff there, like a large collection of edible baked spoons, forks and the like. I could have got a decadent spoon to eat the decadent jam, then eaten the decadent spoon!

This is the bakery by the way. The interactive photo is not from the London branch, so I think it must be one of the two French branches. It looks about 90% similar to the London one though
My boss knew Lionel Poilane, before Poilane died in a helicopter crash. He's worked at Poilane in France as a "guest baker" while he was practicing for the world cup. I've talked to Appollonia (Poilane's daughter) on the phone a few times. Yeah, you won't be disappointed.

I think I've spoken to her as well, in that the reason I know this place exists is that they are clients of ours and I have spoken to a French sounding woman who seemed to run the place (I cannot remember what her name was though, as this was about 12 months back). Small world eh?

As you say, the bread is amazing. I've been there before a couple of times before and it never disappoints. They also supply bread to places like Harrods as well, which is just up the road from their London bakery.
