owlbear has always stuck out to me as such a ridiculous concept.

i mean, I love owlbears, I have just always wondered who had the initial "Man what if a monster was half owl half bear?"

i like that in avatar they get confused when an animal is JUST one thing, like a bear

in other news, gaming stores tend to smell terrible, it is very sad

I once had an idea for a gaming club where you just pay a monthly fee and can use all of the games any time. You could still buy the products to bring home, but you could not buy the ones you just wanted to try out.

You could play with all the little men. ALL OF THEM.

There's a store near me that allows folks to use gaming stuff including books and terrain and some armies (usually unpainted ones). Except, you know, no fee.

there was a little more to it than that. But yeah, I understand the flawed nature of it.

They always host their comics on smugmug these days, but sometimes they forget to use the art.penny-arcade.com version of the url and it seems for some people only the smugmug version gets blocked.

Our local game shop fortunately has not closed down but sadly had to move several doors down in the strip mall to a storefront less than half the size.

It didn't have the best selection but they would special order stuff for you and it had a ton of tables, including big ones for wargaming.

The size of the new location is just this little hole in the wall and it's super depressing.

In contrast, my LGS took over the space formerly occupied by an outdoor sports shop, plastered all the arrow holes in one of the walls, and now there's enough room that the Magic players can have a tournament any day of the week* and there's still four or five tables for wargaming or role-playing games.

    *They don't, of course.

Our FLGS isn't big enough. Every Wedesday we pack it with about a half people at 4 warmachine tables, and another 18 D&D players playing Encounters.

One day someone is going to lose an eye fighting over chairs.
