JJ Abrams didn't direct Cloverfield and what Postal? That was Uwe Boll.

Abrams did however direct Star Trek, which was awesome.

Also, the quite-thoroughly-enjoyable Mission Impossible 3. Love Hoffman in that.

Hoffman was having the time of his life in MI:3

Also the whole chicken arm fight thing at the end when Tom Cruise's brain is exploding is hilarious

I think Super 8 is supposed to be more like an old school monster movie, the kind you'd ignore at a drive-in so you could have sex in public

No one really knows anything about Super 8 yet except from the footage shown and the fact that it is named Super 8 harkens back to ye olde homemade movies and what not

Like what Spieberg used when he was a kid in his backyard

    Ok

Cowboys and Aliens? What the fuck?

I mean, daniel craig and harrison ford, this looks like it has potential. I don't know what to think other than that.

Since I didn't read any of this thread I'm going to assume this exact post has already been said dozens of times.

It's based off a comic , basically think straight western film

    Then aliens show up

Then it becomes a straight western but with ray guns

Also it has Sam Rockwell fuck yes

Like I was watching the trailer, saw harrison ford in that hat and thought "next indiana jones movie?"

Then I figured out it wasn't that, and I was expecting it to be about some kind of historical event or outlaws - you know, the typical "western movie" type shit.

Then I see this alien-robot-spaceship thing and I don't know what to think, other than I kinda want to see it now

I know exactly what you're talking about Bucket and yeah, I can see her being a little freaked. I was watching all this shit go down on Lakeshore and Michigan ave from my window and seeing people being carried by the wind is kinda nervewracking.

My whole take on the Volkswagen Vader Kid was very simple.

    I watched it.

I was jealous that cars didn't have auto-key-start in 1983.

I was jealous of that kid's awesome Darth Vader costume.

I watched it on youtube again.

Then I realized that they didn't tell that kid to act, that's just a bunch of folks telling him:

"Okay, Darth, you can use The Force one time today, only once. You won't know when it's gonna happen, but when it does, it's gonna be better than waffles with maple syrup in every square!"

    And then they filmed it.

I like thinking that the "kid" is really a dwarf. Who's like, 39 years old. They probably started with a real little kid but it didn't turn out how they wanted so they just re shot it with the pro actor.

He's more machine than kid now- twisted and evil.

The kid was on the today show actually. legit blonde little fucker

Anybody who considers Cowboys and Aliens any kind of terrible deserves to be put on a terrorist list by the CIA.

    As they are clearly un-American.
