    Tangmaster fears no man.

Zero's combos are easy but you need to incorporate buster shots and such to really do any real damage. Of course, with a good assist/tag it doesn't really matter because then someone else can finish the damage for him.

runner's stance is hard to do :( i get the impression that she-hulk would be much, much easier to play using a hitbox

speaking of, the hitbox kind of intrigues me, is there an online store where you can just order one of them or do i have to contact the guys who make them directly?

I just like him because I can run down your run-away team somewhat effectively with him and Wesker.

Hsien-Ko seems to go well with a lot of teams actually, if only due to her crazy good gold armor pendulum assist and great dhc potential.

Ok, I really feel the need to start upping my game a bit now. I still need to work on my awful defense and using actual blockstrings instead of letting muscle memory pump out the dumbest unsafe stuff in the world, but you all can't help me a whole lot with that. BUT, I do need help actually solidifying a team. There's several characters I feel like I can use reasonably well (or could readily get to a point that I could say so), but I'm really not sure how to mesh them onto a team.

Right now I'd say my options readily include (in alphabetical order, + being among my best):
    Captain America
    Dante
    Deadpool +
    Dormammu +
    Hsien-ko
    Iron Man
    Taskmaster
    Wolverine

Problem is I've yet to find a particularly useful OTG extension for anybody with Deadpool's Katanarama, and his other assists are pretty bad. Dante -> Deadpool DHC (or vice versa) seems to work pretty well. And if I could learn to find ways to more readily connect with Taskmaster and not leave him hanging in the wind on block, he'd probably go well with Dorm. But besides that I've just been picking teams how I feel at the moment from among those choices, and in order to get better I really need a solid trio (or even a pair of teams) to bunker down with. Any suggestions on what to do given the above? Or any character I could learn without being a master of execution (ie, I can't do Doom's combo loop, etc)?

Forget it, I'm not touching the online again until they get this shit sorted out. The wait between matches is too sparse for me to get any learning experiences from my losses, and the search feature has not worked for me even once.

Plus, the input lag is making things even more impossible for me; no matter how careful I try to be, I can't stop super-jumping or Tenderizing with SS.

do player matches instead of ranked, so you can have a series of matches with the same player - that's much better practice than playing in ranked. And you can do player match request from training mode so you can spend the time looking for players getting your shit down.

The online is as fine as SF once you connect with someone. It's the game. You need to have much better stick / button discipline here than in SF.

if you're tenderizing / super jumping, it's because you're spamming.

As for finding a match, go into arcade or training and set fight requests. It'll be quick.

The Achievement whore in me forces me to keep trying Ranked to get that fivepeat Achievement, for fear that people will just get better if I wait until later.

Considering I feel like I'm choking on my adam's apple though, I'd better take a break from it one way or another.

I'm seriously trying not to spam, but it takes some serious Zen-like meditation to not lose control over all the crazy crap going on in the screen. Plus in all seriousness, I am experiencing input lag, with my assists/team switching not occurring no matter how hard I'm jamming on the shoulder buttons.

This is what I've been doing, but I've been going through Arcade mode multiple times and maybe get one challenger at the most between finishing up against Galactus and starting over.

So I just was catching up on the thread - why is MODOK's jamming bomb the "worst idea in any fighting game ever".

Do you mean worst idea, like I shouldn't use it because it's going to leave me open or something else I'm not realizing?

Or do you simply mean worst idea because I will totally shut down the 100 hit combo you memorized, leaving you wide open to be embarrassingly punished by a giant head with baby legs?

Because it's a gimmick that can potentially become useless once the game gets old enough; one where you can hit the opponent and he has so much experience he can continue playing normally .

However, for the rest of the non-dedicated-for-life players, it completely shuts down the game because it feels like it takes the controls away from you if you havent dedicated enough time to learn how to play with flipped controls.

Having my controls swapped in Guitar Hero Vs mode was one of the most unenjoyable things I've experienced in a video game.

Eh, I don't think it would effect them as much as confusing them and then just laughing it off if you explain it.

Besides, it's not really the first time it's done.

Lieselotte from arcana heart 3 does that, and that was a grab. Much easier to land than a really slow projectile.

People learnt to deal with that. they can deal with this.

Alright, PS3 ranbats. If all goes to plan, this thursday 8 pm EST. I've got 9 people not including me, and 1 potential one, making it hopefully 11. If your schedule doesn't allow it and there aren't enough people, then I'll postpone it and see how things are next week.

In which case we'll split it into 4 pools of 3, with each pool playing to a best of 3 matches between each player. Then it'll be a single elimination playoff semi finals, best of three, than the top 2 will play off in the finals, also a best of three.

There'll be a 2 people pool but we'll sort it out!

Though if there are more people of course things will be reorganised as needed.

1 point for each match won. 1 point for making it to semies and 1 point for each match in semies won. 1 point for reaching finals and 1 point for each match won.

I'm not sure how this will balance out but we'll make it up as we go along!

Of course, any double dippers are welcomed to join... Plus anyone on PSN who hasn't contacted me yet.

We will be meeting in a PSN chatroom for the ranbats.

List of players that PM'd me.

    kuhlmeye - the-K-flash

That Akuma assist is stupid for letting Wolvy get in and wreak havoc, I don't know of a whole lot of pairings that have such a gross level of synergy. Completely eliminates Wolverines weakness to keepaway, not that I personally think he does badly with it anyway.

    Varies.

I have pretty good connection with players like thestig, greatslinky (not sure if he's on this forums),t-bolt and some others who I can't remember. Some are ok, not the best but playable.

    T-bolt is canadian though.

Random americans I find though are around half bad and half good. Though they're all better than singapore and china connections, which is strange considering those countries are waaaay closer. Which is annoying because somehow capcom grouped us into the same region.
