According to his mission statement he claims he is only trying to keep mature content away from minors without parental consent. Now, I agree with that fully, and IF (that's a huge if) he truly acted in accordance with that mission statement, and did so with eloquence and dignity, I would support his cause. However, the problem is he DOES NOT follow his own mission statement, but rather seems bent on obliterating the gaming industry at all costs, even via lies, slanderous accusations, and generally abhorrent behavior that even pre-teen children understand is inappropriate. THAT, right there, is why he fails, and why he should, and hopefully will, be punished. He does not behave how a lawyer should behave, and he specifically acts unethically and immorally toward an unjust and unconstitutional cause. Thus, disbarment will be in his future, I'm certain of this (even if it doesn't happen during this particular proceeding).
That's pretty much my thoughts right there.
It's not as if a stricter age rating system is doing the UK any harm (the public reaction to Hot Coffee was something akin to "meh")
One of the older threads had a huge quote tree where everyone heaped prais on bhealey for being awesome and such. It got so bad it broke the h-scroll and the mods had to threaten to ban people who quoted the tree.

So is there a Cliff's Notes version of bhealey vs. JT out there somewhere?
It's....IT'S ON THIS VERY PAGE GSFGHDFHDHDFA
Uh-huh. On this very page I see a review of the discrepancies between JT's mission statement and his actions to date and mention of a follow-up to a report to the FBA. You know that whole backstory thing that would explain why bhealey is recognized as having more of a role in this than the average OMGJTite? I'm not really seeing that, and that's what I was asking about.
If a competent and intelligent person came along championing restricting the sales of video games to minors, I would be all for them. Because they were competent and intelligent, they would understand what deserves scorn and what does not. Even more importantly, they would understand what measures to propose that would work and would be reasonable.

Does that thread still exist somewhere or was it saved or something? I really want to see it.

It's worth remembering that the public attitude towards sexual content is wildly different in the UK, and that the BBFC tend to come down much more heavily on explicit violence than non-explicit sex (generally nudity and discussion of sexual acts won't bump a rating above 12, Hot Coffee had no nudity and was actually quite comic in it's representation of the sex acts).
The BBFC also has it's testers play the game, it's my understanding that the ESRB merely watch videos of it. This might go some way towards explaining why the BBFC is able to distinguish Action Replay hacks from intentionally included content, when the ESRB apparently can't.
[quote=BBFC ratings procedure]Supporting Material Examiners are required to sample game play throughout the game, not just at the beginning. A method must be provided to facilitate this whether that is cheat codes, a debug menu, save games etc.

Debug Menu (with instructions on activation and use)
Command console (Typically for PC games, please include instructions)
Cheat codes (god mode, level skipping, ammo, weapon unlocks etc)

Failure to provide adequate supporting material will delay the submission.
Gameplay footage
Gameplay footage can be helpful in reaching a classification decision. If provided, please ensure that it is concise and is limited to the contentious elements of the game. Such footage should not normally exceed 60 mins running time
Copies of footage that may have been submitted to other ratings boards are perfectly acceptable and can be provided on either VHS, DVD or any other digital file format. (If supplied on VHS, please ensure it is of PAL standard)

As regards Jack, the funny thing is that if you see him on TV or in discussions with journalists he seems relatively sane. There's a distinct and stark contrast between the public face of his campaigning and how he communicates with the "gaming community." I think it just hasn't occurred to him that there are adult gamers, and that the people who disagree with him are anything other than kids whining about their toys being taken away.
so many people called/faxed/emailed the FBA to complain (and all at the same time) that they called an "emergency meeting to consider beginning an investigation" (paraphrasing there). it seems this is the result of that investigation.
bhealy, you are the reason these events have been set in motion.

While it was epic, let's not get ahead of ourselves...didn't the bar state they're looking into this only because of complaints by another law firm?

It's in the archives. It is quite epic!
EDIT: That's where the epic-ness starts.
I wish I was here when that went down. I would have loved to have helped!
Anyone who was around then, what ever happened to that gamers voice thingy? Is it still around?
Yes. It is now Gamer's Vagina.
That's silly. There are no girls on the internet.
