hurt [in such a way that they become a bully like that thing we've been talking about]
My real beef is with this "allowed themselves to become" business. As if these kids are weighing the options of various coping mechanisms and coming to a decision on which is the best. That and finding some kid who became a dick worse than the guy who made him that way (who presumably was just naturally a dick?). With your rhetoric about some repulsive, horrible, twisted, etc "traitor" I think it's you who is the one with a personal story.

I'd say that if a bully causes someone to become twisted, It's bad to hate the victim and all the more reason to hate the bully. Only if the twisted victim becomes a bully does he deserve any blame. But that makes the bully even more evil, having infected An innocent with the bullying mental virus.
I followed Tank Hammer's Facebook link. Amusingly, "Bully" is on his favorite games list.
And bad shit happening to you doesn't really absolve anyone of anything. Yeah, being bullied sucks, but becoming an asshole out of it means that you let it get to you in a bad way. Even if it was a subconscious change, even if it's really difficult to maintain a rational point of view after that kind of abuse, how something affects someone is always at least partly that persons responsibility

You know who I disliked even more than bullies? The other nerdy kids who would allow themselves to become horrible, little, twisted shits due to bullying. You know the type, I'm sure.
Yeah fuck victims, what's their deal anyway???
So is bullying okay if their parents are shitty? They're victims too! And is being a shitty parent fine if their boss is an asshole? Victim!
At some point, people have to be held accountable for their own behavior.
BlueBlue was just making a sarcastic remark to criticize the 'Blame the victim' attitude that some people have. Blaming the victim is a tactic often used by criminals, especially rapists, to justify their crime.
That said, I agree that no bully should ever avoid blame and punishment just because they were once a victim. The chain of evil must be attacked at every link. Those who can use excuses to get away with bad behavior won't have any motive to behave better.
And besides, what's wrong with a little schoolyard scrap to settle a grudge? I'd imagine that a 3-4 minute fight would certainly be preferable to 3-4 years of abuse

Revenge, counter revenge, what if one of the kids brings a weapon? What if the fight results in permanent injury? Should kids really be encouraged to violate school policy? Any fighting permitted at school should be in the form of controlled martial arts tournaments. Of course a child who is bullied should be allowed to defend himself or herself, but who ever started that fight should be immediately punished.
The only grudge that should be settled with violence is the grudge a victim of a violent attack has against the attacker; and only then during the time of the attack, the justice system should take over once the victim is out of harm's way.
Another problem with bullies is that they often prey on victims that are not a threat to them, so many of these grudge fights would be unfair, and encourage the bully to pick on more victims.
I'm going to say that Casey was justified to fight back against the kid, but in order to do so I'm going to have to recount one of the worst things I've ever done: been the bully. This only ever happened once, but I'm still ashamed of it to this day.
This happened around the third or fourth grade, when I was a tubby, socially-awkard kid and was often being bullied myself. My group of friends at this time was confined pretty much exclusively to a small group of social misfits like me, but one day I saw an opportunity: a bunch of the cool people were all gathered in the field around this one other kid. This guy was several grades above me, and though I was tall for my age this guy was larger. He was also mentally handicapped.
I can't remember the exact circumstances, but I desperately wanted to be included with these guys, so I joined in. Somehow I ended up at the front of the group, in front of the poor kid, who was pleading for us to leave him alone. Finally he snapped, and seeking the nearest target, punched me square in the face. I ended up sitting in detention with a bloody nose along side one of the ringleader bullies. I remember saying absolutely nothing the whole time while the other guy promised he would try to explain our way (our; we had become partners in crime) out of the mess.
I never ended up joining in with the cool kids. I stayed with the same social misfits until a couple of years later I moved to a new school. But getting punched taught me some valuable lessons; I had seen bullying from the other side and I hold that I got exactly what I deserved.
Whether the amount of force Casey used was justified or not is a different question, but I believe he absolutely had a right to fight back. Whether he will admit it or not, that kid won't think about bullying the same way again.
I was never physically bullied, but I put up with a fair bit of verbal bullying. Thank God that I had a fairly diverse set of friends to fall back on for back up. Watching that interview just......man I so feel for Casey.
The story about his friends leaving him and his non-retaliatory ways attracting a lot of abuse hit incredibly close to home. I'm glad he's doing well now. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a good heart and I'm glad the bullies didn't take that away from him.
Good for that kid, I don't know what that shrimp thought he was doing, trying to push around someone twice his size . Kids are so goddamn stupid
Recently at a party with some people from High School, a guy I had known since middle school made a comment to me. "I don't know why you always took so much shit, everyone who picked on you was so much smaller" To me it just never occured really. Except the two times it did.

Plus it was clear the other kids behind the camera were the ones who told the tiny one to go hit Casey because Casey was the type who wouldn't strike back and they thought it'd be funny. The little shit was probably confident that Casey would cry and run away or something equally-humiliating.
One time I just snapped, and grabbed the annoying fuck tormenting (for years at this point) me by the throat, and slowly bent him over and ground his face against the floor.
Then all of his douche friends (whom in the past cheered while he beat me up) were all yelling about how doing that doesn't make me cool. I mean, what the shit? I wasn't even looking for kudos, but if I was, how is it not cool when a smaller kid finally gets one over the bigger kid? Bully politics is dumb.
A few other times an incident occurred I just mainly relied on painful grabs and such, since I have been brain washed to the point where I can't throw a punch with force... i always pull them and they glance off because *punching is wrong*.
Every meeting with the teacher re: bullying was like this
to bully: what the hell are you doing you idiot? You are 3ft taller than this guy, why the hell would you even think of fighting him? You are dumb as two bricks, and you will probably end up working for him in the future.

i think you can probably blame Australia's bizzare stance on censorship. We have a huge anti-bullying and "one punch can kill" campaigns going on, and I would guess they don't want the kid to be emulated, so burying the whole thing is easier than saying "well, i guess it's kinda okay, but it could have been really bad, so don't do it".
Australia is really weird when it comes to bullying and racism.
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this or not, but to me the saddest part of this whole thing is the 82 year old man and his wife who has cancer who are being tormented because internet toughguys incorrectly thought their phone number and address belonged to the bully. I think they have enough to worry about without being afraid someone is going to come to their house and mess with them.
I'm sort of glad I went to a school populated entirely by nerds where even the 'jocks' played DOTA and wouldn't have dreamed of actually physically trying to rough anybody up
I still got bullied but it was verbal bullying at that's honestly the easiest type of bullying to push to one side. You just ignore those people. They're idiots. They got bored pretty quickly anyway.

there's tons of mirror videos of it on yt
Not any more.
Can anyone sum it up? Was he you are the bullys! ?
It's still embedded here (claiming fair use).
Thanks, but I get a "This video is no longer available..." on that one too. Got some quotes though and sounds horrible for him.
I'm sure it'll pop back up once the media moves on to something else.
