I think this is actually a good thing since we've only hung out once and she suggested that if there's a game 7 I should postpone. That means she's a keeper, right?
Anyways, she wants to see X-Men on Friday, so I have a date to look forward to!

EM the weirdest fucking thing is that I have watched TONS of SFIV:AE matches and MvC3 matches (basically I watched most of CEO) the past few days. But I haven't played MvC3 in about a month and SSFIV in about 4.
It's almost like I wish I could be good at these games but I don't have the time to put into them. Or the patience. But I get a charge out of watching those that are good.

if you have some idea what's going on it can be really fun to watch, like sports.
i played for a good two hours tonight, largely against some guy who was, judging the W/L ratio, exactly ten times better than me
it was great

I think that totally makes sense. They're good party games partly because they're fun to watch even if you're not playing, and it can be cool to see them played by people who really know what they're doing.

Suggest that she comes up dressed as Emma Frost.
She'll be better than month-person at it

Yeah, I get the basic elements enough of each game that I have a blast watching. I understand and was "better" at Marvel than SSFIV, mostly because I played a pretty decent MvC2. But it is a lot like sports. Watched a great best of three set between two awesome players today and it came down to literally the last hit on each guy. I got super stoked.
I guess I just don't have a solid enough group of people I feel comfortable playing fighters with, and everyone I play fighters with is about my skill level (read: decent to pretty good for casual, could not compete with anyone who knows "proper" technqiue)...so I just never get better or have the patience to drill in practice.
Stupid proactiv refining mask caused the skin on my chin to peel, and now it looks like I got a sunburn or face-planted on the pavement. I hope it doesn't leave a scar.
it takes so much time to become good at competitive video games
i don't think i will really bother getting good at any other games because i will feel like i should be using my time more profitably
This is my thing. If I really wanted to get great at SSFIV or MvC3 I could afford an Arcade Stick and probably even have the time to get really good. But I play a lot of single player games, a lot of party games with friends and I play some FPS' and an array of fighting games.
The way I game doesn't lend itself to isolating myself to one game to get really good at.
MvC3 requires a larger time investment than even typical fighter since you have to not only learn three fighters, but how they interact with one another

Not really. You just have to figure out how to build 5 bars and then make sure Phoenix doesn't get snapped in ;-)

I shall entertain you. Dance like a monkey. While watching Chasing Amy.

I'm sorry
I am too bored to entertain myself, and don't feel like doing or starting anything.
I know exactly what you mean.

Oh, I get that sometimes too.
It was pretty good! We didn't actually do a whole lot, just kind of hung out and gabbed, but it was nice.
also there are a lot of really quite attractive people living in the harshest wilderness
Good!
I don't have either but I get this feeling sometimes. It is the worst.

I feel like this sometimes as well. You are not alone! I've chosen to watch SFIV:AE matches on justintv as a result.
this is a completely valid pursuit

That guy's involved in another project now. Clair Cassis. I haven't heard it yet.

For a few of their demos, they just stole and retitled songs from a Russian folk-metal group.
Not a great pedigree.
