you should read the post Ultimatum Ultimate Spider-Man stuff, it's just as good as it always was.

I've heard that. Should I just snag the trades, or is there anything sandwiched between Requiem and that I need to hunt down?

nope, just start with the first Ultimate Comics Spider-Man trade, which I think is "The World According to Peter Parker"

You know what, this is exactly the sort of things I adore in the superheroes genre that I diss in some other thread. It's so full of self-references of all kinds, that make only sense to people who've grown up with that culture and have assimilated all its mythology, that it really becomes more than the sum of its parts. I'm not fond of its parts, but this decades-wide system that they form -with all its coherences and incoherences- is fantastic. I really enjoy having such thing pointed out, even when I don't read them. That or all sorts of "because issue #211 june 1998", actually. This is the main reason why I haunt these threads.

Terrible as that was, the amount of work and bullshit that came after to recon/explain that scene was insane. Like Wolverine calling SHulk "Marko's sloppy seconds." Just pure garbage.

Pretty sure the first comic I ever bought was an issue of Spawn

    So I guess

    I'll just show myself out

well I mean that kitty panel stands on its own in the context of the issue

but it's just exponentially more meaningful to someone who gets the reference

    We all make mistakes.

The important thing is to admit them, and learn from them.

For example, Bale could say he was silly to purchase a comic where Victor Von Doom, of all people, admits someone is better than him and that comic sucks eggs, and all would be forgiven.

I'm gonna start work on the DC thread tonight

I'm gonna try and funnel people to GV via it, since the stupidity over there has lessened significantly after the Superhero Tourney outside of shit like Miles Morales or Batwoman.

Well, for full on post college married/in the Fantastic Four Spidey, I can see 6 feet okay.

But it does look all wrong for High School Parker. Needs more Ditko wireyness.

I think it's more that some people, including myself, prefer Spider-Man when he has a more gymnast/track runner physique. Makes him more unassuming, and a little bit more relatable to some I suppose.

He's no more or less relatable to us than he's always been
