I can't wait for when I meet Miss Right and I can call my loving spouse all sort of food-related pet names. Honeybunch. Sweet Cheeks. Puddin' Pop. Dumpling. Sugar tits.

.... that last one might go too far.

I think a state-by-state shift to proportional Electoral College representation would work as a short-term solution since a Constitutional amendment would be difficult to ratify, but then again there are a lot of states that are purple in reality but solid-red or solid-blue in the EC that won't want to make that change.

I like the idea. But this would require a lot of state constitutions to change. Which some of those would take a long period of time, others a single vote. I really do think, the solid vote though hurts some states since candidates do not really put time or money there do to either the small amount of EC votes and the perception of it being a sure thing for their opponent. Which hurts the general awareness of issues overall.

Proportional doesn't really fix that issue much. I mean Candidates aren't gonna ever spend much time in Vermont, simply because Vermont will never have enough population to really matter.

Well when you think of it that way neither will an abolished electoral college. Why spend time in Wyoming or Vermont when you can spend that time in Cali which you can win more votes by huge margins.

Oh the frustrations of elected representation.

To be fair, the Electoral College doesn't give any candidate any incentive to spend any time or effort in Wyoming or Vermont.

You could make an argument that abolishing the EC would leave rural areas without any influence on national elections, but then again that's what the House is theoretically for.

Netflix should get episodes of the Simpsons on streaming. That would be the awesomest.

I would say the senate is more for giving small states and rural areas power than the house. But this is completely dependent on districting. Colorado traditionally did it with rural and urban having even representation though there has been movements toward population which hurts rural areas. Which is why the senate is more a power house in some states for rural ideas more than the house.

Well Florida's easy, just blow it into the Atlantic. Ohio's a little more tricky though, the US already has a Crater Lake.

Because the last one sucked and I'm sure they want to make it fit the new marvel movie continuity thang where all the movies are taking place in the same universe.
