There is literally nothing worse in TF2 than playing harvest on a valve server, going into the enemy attic and torching 3 completely oblivious snipers in a row. Save the replay, go to make a movie of it, "STRING NOT FOUND, MOTHERFUCKER, YOUR REPLAY WASN'T THAT COOL ANYWAY SO I'M GONNA CRASH YOU TO DESKTOP NOW. BRO."
I seem to remember seeing that video before in a previous TF2 thread. I've been trying to tell people that for years about trees and sound, but I always get interrupted.
The title for this one is less good but the swapped audio track makes up for it (the original suffers from that bug where the pyro guitar riff taunt plays at the start at an obnoxiously loud volume).
So I'm participating in a 72 hour mapping contest at the end of the month and I'm planning on streaming it. It's the weekend starting the 29th.
I'm having a hell of a time deciding on a game type I want to do, though. No one plays CTF, PL/PLR would take too long to set up (and I'm not real comfortable with the entity work there still,) and TC is not going to happen. So that doesn't leave me with much. 2CP A/D like Gorge/ Stoneyridge (could work, but I've been doing Stoney forever now,) 3 stage A/D like Dustbowl (kind of time consuming and lots could go wrong easily, but also sounds fun,) 5CP (A good choice, but hard to do something that isn't Badlands or Granary and still be balanced,) or KoTH (By far the easiest, but almost seem too easy for a contest like this. The safe option. I'd probably take some layout cues from trainsawlaser, without the gimmicks,) 3CP A/D like Gravelpit (Kind of hard to balance properly, and I'm not real familiar with the layouts of these types of maps.)
I never did get around to that six-CP version of Gravelpit.
That is: there are points A through F. A, B, and C are the bottom tier, D and E are the next tier, and F is the game-winning point. Taking A and B unlocks D, and taking B and C unlocks E. Taking D and E unlocks F.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
@Duke: Was it you had to have all 3 points to start the timer?
If so, what was the benefit of only having one or two?
I almost made Cenotaph (my egypt themed map) a 2CP KoTH mode that lowered spawn times if you had one of the points. Maybe opening alternative routes could be cool too?
I think I'm going to go with a highlander mode favored KoTH map, as of now, though.

In retrospect the map I'm thinking of was more of a 3CP where all caps can be worked on at any time by either team and you had to capture all three to win. A timer-based version could be fun, and you could even change alternate routes depending on which point is capped.
Goldfish: "Does it strike you as mysterious that goldfish are neither MADE OF GOLD or EVEN FISH? Because it should. Also, goldfish ARE fish, we got that part wrong. TO GET YOU OFF THE SCENT!"
Pocket Lint: "Is it fabric lint? Navel lint you're keeping in your pocket so you don't lose it? Naval lint brushed from the hull of a battleship? This is pretty mysterious lint."
Cheese Wheel: "This cheese doesn't seem so mysterious until you realize it's full of bullet holes. Somebody got to this cheese before it could talk."
Banana Peel: "Where did the banana go? Sit down for this next part, because WE HAVE NO IDEA. Admit it, that's kind of mysterious."
Barn Door Plank: "This barn door plank doesn't look mysterious at all, until you view it at an atomic level. Hey, there's a horse there next to all those atoms. They're taking turns riding the horse. Man, how did a horse get there? Pretty darn mysterious."
Secret Diary: "Unlike other games we could mention, owning this won't trigger a sound file narrating secret diary entries. Why? Because we RESPECT THE PRIVACY of our characters. What are they hiding? Truly we live in MYSTERIOUS TIMES."
Damaged Capacitor: "How did it get damaged? Who damaged it? What is a capacitor? Better get your tickets ready, because the mystery train is leaving the station. Or did it already leave? Another mystery!"

Just like the good ol' days.
Also, this was terribly funny to me.

Heh, I'm sitting here thinking, "Huh, someone else uses the same hat & hair combination as me for engineer? ...Oh, wait, that *was* me. Derp."

Mavers doesn't kill me. I kill mavers.
Probably why I've been relying on FRAPS a bit more lately.
edit: Some pyro gameplay on Stoneyridge:

That wasn't on HonC, but I was very proud of myself nonetheless.

Red has to push their payload across the map, while Blue tries to work its way to capping all 3 points.
Both teams are defending and attacking at once. (This is a neat idea, probably not suited for the contest, though)
