Aah, the stitching (?) in that is so beautiful!

    (What is the correct term?)

Also, is that wool slightly pearlescent, or is that due to the camera?

Yep, they're stitches, so you can say it that way, thanks!

It's actually not wool (I don't know if I've ever used wool, wool is really expensive), it's an acrylic, but yes! It's Caron Simply Soft, which is a super-soft yarn with a slight shininess to it. I like it a lot, but it doesn't work well in conjunction with other yarn brands. So if I do a piece with CSS, I need to do the entire piece with it. Not too much trouble, since I have a ton stockpiled away.

If I'm bored while driving, I'll make various expressions at people I pull up next to. Or attempt to initiate absurd conversations with pedestrians before the light changes.

    Sometimes I just yell things.

I'm failing to convey the specificities that make this not a description of schizophrenia.

Just now, I was walking home, and some girl was sitting in her car with the windows down, reading something, parked in the crosswalk. Probably a few inches into the intersection even.

I don't know why, but I just walked up to her window, all, "Hey, how're you?"

    "Uh... hello."

    "Whatcha readin'?"

"I'm sorry, can I help you?"

    "You're parked in the crosswalk."

"Oh gosh, I'm sorry, I know, I'm just trying to-"

"It's okay, I don't really have time for this," and I walked out into the cross street to go around. She looked hella embarrassed.

it was fun to do for how doodle-y it was...

having a really small brush for line work finally is a dream. i always avoiding doing cartoon-y illustrative paintings because of my inability to really render lines how i wanted

now i can! and all it took was a $4 brush hurray

Hey artsy people, I am a crafty person making a thingy for PAX. For designing a Megaman helmet, would craft foam work or maybe cardboard with a layer of loving bondo on it? I'm kinda wanting this thing to be at least a little durable. Not motorcycle helmet durable but like, PAX durable.

So I made this, (well, added to it) to avoid tangles.

Of course I also bought a set of Bluetooth headphones like a week or two ago.

That is way better than the first thing I ever "painted".

But then I have no background in arts.

Here is a horrible picture of my attempt at art

  • UrielUriel Registered User regular
I have since then only become marginally better.

That whelp is probably the 4th thing I've painted? Definitely not my first! I'm working my way up to the more detailed minis, as my last attempt at one of those was mediocre.

  • Vann DirasVann Diras Registered User regular

I don't know if I still could, but 5 years ago when I was living with my folks we had fiber goats. And I don't care if it's totally unmanly; I could spin my own yarn. On a wheel, no less. Shit was cool and took timing and patience and was kind of therapeutic.

Operating a spinning wheel correctly is not easy to do.

It's high on my list of things to learn how to do! Spindles are cheap but tough to spin an even thickness, but dropping $500+ on a wheel that I may not use that often seems ridiculous.

I have the same internal debate about learning to weave, looms are $$ too :/

Well I am pretty much artistically challenged outside of photography and videography. I did however make something over the hollidays for a cousin of mine that is about to be deployed again on the USS Iwo Jima. Behold my horrid baking skills!...

    IMAG0393.jpg

I made it entirely out of edible parts and got pretty bored and rushed once I got to the icing painting phase so I just rushed through it.
((Also I am kinda sorta back. My lappy died and I likely wont beable to replace it till after the 30th.))
