Let's just say that season 2 is the Empire Strikes Back of the series. And it's glorious.

Season Two has most of the greatest episodes.

    Though no Melon Lord.

Really? Season 2 wasn't all that especially dark, especially compared to Season 3. The ending would probably qualify, though.

Man you haven't even been introduced to Azula in any meaningful fashion if you haven't seen the second season. She's a pretty fantastic villain, and is voiced by Grey DeLisle!

the ending of season 2 has a lot of parallels to ESB, though

Wasn't talking about it being dark, just how ESB is considered the best of the original series.

Agreed. I just rewatched the whole series over the past few weekends, and Season 2 fucking flew.

Also, Avatar Day is the best filler episode.

Azula has become the standard by which I measure villains. She's just so effective.
    Don't click on this Uriel.
At least until she goes nuts.

Lies. Ember Island players. Or possibly The Beach.

Anyway, it's a sign of greatness when even the fillers are awesome.

Man Katara kicked Zuko's ass at the end of season 1.

That whole section was pretty great.

I also really like Zuko though, so it was also great to see him fight Zhao.

My friend that I got interested in the show was bowled over by Zuko. His determination forces you to root for him even when he's the designated villain.

Both Star Wars and Avatar were heavily influenced by The Hero with a Thousand Faces, so the comparisons are pretty apt.

At times I wondered if Zuko was perhaps mentally handicapped. He is not one of my favorite characters from the show.

Zuko is a pretty great character, I always thought. Only...
...at the end of Season 2 did I find him kind of wonky, and not because of his actions in the last episode, but because I didn't believe his super quick buildup during Ba Sing Se to the choice.

I got mad at the show when that happened
I mean I realize it was him desperately grasping at the chance to fulfill what had for years pretty much been his reason for living, but him rejecting his huge character growth was no fun

and he disappointed Iroh, what kind of a dick would even think about disappointing Iroh

he learned to be content with not getting what he wanted, when he was supposed to learn to not want it in the first place

"Hey guys, Zuko here!" Some of the funniest Zuko lines.

    Late season 3 spoilers
Hello, Zuko here. But I guess you probably already know me, sort of. Uh so, the thing is I have a lot of Firebending experience and I'm considered to be pretty good at it. Well you've seen me... you know when I was attacking you? Uh yeah, I guess I should apologize for that, but anyway I'm good now. I mean, I thought I was good before but now I realize I was bad, but anyway... I think it's time I joined your group and taught the Avatar Firebending.
Imitating Iroh: Zuko, you have to look within yourself, to save yourself from your other self. Only then will your true self, reveal itself.

    Zuko: Oh... Sorry about that.
