I tried three separate times to get into Bulletstorm. It just gets old so fast. Commander Shepard telling me she was going to kill my dick, and other silly things helped a bit. I just couldn't get into it though...

No kidding. It's like his biggest failure is somebody else was too shortsighted to give him more time. Oh geez.

I was pretty shocked he didn't mention being a shade too ambitious with his promises.

    Piracy definitely killed Bulletstorm

It absolutely had nothing to do with their growing reputation for shit PC ports and the lack of a demo until long after launch

I actually read that more as, "I thought I knew what I was doing, but I wasn't clear enough on why I needed time and I was being obscure with my reasoning and could not persuade them to give me more time," instead of, "they were holding out on me."

"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."

I wonder if it affected their PC sales at all when they did put out the demo. I bought Bulletstorm immediately after having played the demo.

It's not for everyone. The story was funny and I felt poked a lot of fun at the typical modern shooter, but the gameplay is what made me play through the game three times (so far, I've been itching to go play it again actually). When you get into the skillshot system and things start to flow, it really is a work of art.

Bethesda to re-release Quake 4 for Xbox 360 in June.
Bethesda will re-release seven-year-old first-person shooter Quake 4 on Xbox 360 in June, it's announced.

In the US the game launches on Tuesday, 19th June with a new $19.99 price point.

"If you didn't pick up an Xbox 360 at launch, it's possible you might have missed out on one of the system's best launch titles, Quake 4," Bethesda said.

"With it becoming harder and harder to find a new copy of the game, we're happy to announce we're re-releasing it at a low price of $19.99."

"You scared the dick off me!"

    Speaking of silliness:
If you're a fan of Resident Evil and have exceptionally deep pockets, prepare to get excited by the Platinum Edition of Resident Evil 6. It's essentially the ultimate special edition, coming with a copy of the game on either Xbox 360 or PlayStation, plus four phone cases – one each for Chris, Leon and Jake, plus a random 'secret' case.

The big draw, however, is a replica leather jacket based on the one Leon wears in the game. Available in four sizes – small to extra large – the jacket is apparently made from fine soft leather.

And the cost of the Platinum Edition? A mere ¥100,000, which translates to around $1,240 or £780. The bad news is currently it's only available through Capcom's Japanese eStore and is limited to 5,000 units, so if you're desperate to perfect the Leon look then you'd best starting think about how you're going to get one – and start saving – now.

Is Resident Evil really that big in Japan? I thought it was mostly a western thing.

Also, Nintendo's getting all artsy and stuff.
Nintendo has announced that it has partnered up with the Louvre to get 3DS systems into the hands of those visiting the famous art museum in Paris.

Through the partnership, art lovers will be able to experience audio and visual guides by using the handheld, including 3D images, HD photos, animation and an interactive map. A number of tours will be available through the application, allowing visitors to have a guided experience through the museum at their own pace. Location based services will also be implemented, slimming the chances of getting lost while appreciating the vast collection of art.

The Audioguide Louvre - Nintendo 3DS will be available starting today.

I have yet to go into a TRU, Target, Walmart, etc and NOT see an entire display of those Skylanders figures sitting there untouched. And I live in a pretty big metropolitan area. I have no clue where this insatiable demand and mob forming is happening because it ain't here.

I still don't understand where the mad rush for Skylanders is.

My local Wal-Mart has had an ENTIRE ENDCAP FULL OF FIGURES for about 3 weeks now, and it doesn't look like anyone has touched it.

Seriously, at least 75 assorted figures. I'll take a pic with my phone this weekend.

    Am I missing something!?

    lolWut?

Is there that much of a demand for Quake 4? Its not really that great... Also, its super easy to find it for $5 or less at GameStop. Bethesda doesn't make any money off that sale though, but I don't see too many people shelling out $20 for a mediocre FPS, when they can get it alot cheaper.

I like these quotes as well.

    http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-11413-Molyneux-on-Leaving-Microsoft---I-Felt-Like-I-was-Being-Creatively-Suffocated-.html
Peter Molyneux has spoken openly for the first time about what drove him to form his own independent studio. In a revealing interview, the legendary industry figure pins his decision to leave Lionhead and Microsoft on an intriguing combination of awards, posturepedic chairs and being “creatively suffocated."

It's a fascinating tale that reveals as much about Molyneux's undimmed passion, as it does about the current state of Microsoft Game Studios.

“About 18 months ago,” says Molyneux, “this series of strange things started to happen. I started to get all these accolades. I got a BAFTA Fellowship. I got a Lifetime Achievement Award in Spain, another in Italy, over in the states I picked up a few more. They were all coming in.”

The problem, he says, is that these awards seemed to signify the end of a career.

“Of course, I was unbelievably proud of it,” says Molyneux. “But eventually I took a long hard look at all these awards lined up on the mantelpiece and asked myself, do I really deserve these? Are these a representation of everything I’ve done before? I couldn’t believe it.

“Is this it? People were saying ‘you’ve done it all, Peter.’ Have I? All those awards, they should have gone to the people I worked with at Lionhead too. I don’t think I deserved them. I couldn’t accept that I’ve already done my best work.

I’ve waved my arms around on stage and talked to the press for years and got people excited about games, but my passion is making games and I think I’ve still got something to offer.

Despite everything Molyneux has achieved, the Populous, Dungeon Keeper and Fable creator still believes that he has more in him. His ambition is still unparalleled.

“I don’t think I’ve made my best game,” he says. “And I haven’t made one of the greatest games ever, have I? To achieve that is my absolute, absolute passion. All the steps that I’ve taken in my life have led me to this point. I want nothing more than to create something truly worthy of all these trophies I’ve got.”.

Unfortunately, however, Molyneux believes that it would not be possible for him to create that game while still working at Lionhead and Microsoft.

“So, yes; back to leaving Microsoft,” he continues. “I had this unbelievable desire to make something special. Of course I didn’t have the idea for the game itself, partly because when you’re at Microsoft any idea you have is property of Microsoft. But then, this terrible thing happened to me.

“One day I was at the studio sitting on my chair, in the zone, my eyes closed, my headphones on, blaring music in, trying to think of ideas for Fable: The Journey.

“Suddenly I felt my chair move. I looked around. Standing there was the Microsoft chair adjustment personnel, this nice woman who comes over once a month, fiddling with my seat settings to make sure it was posturepedically correct.

    “I thought; this is insane.

“I was in a creative padded cell. Microsoft was so safe. Microsoft was so nice. You’re so supported. Everything I did couldn’t hurt me, both creatively and physically. The danger was long gone. I had this huge desire to make something truly special, and I felt like I was being suffocated creatively a little bit.

“That was the moment I realised I had to go.”

Molyneux’s new outfit, 22 Cans, is currently hiring developers to work on as yet unannounced projects. The Facebook page for the studio had suggested that they would work exclusively on “Mobile and Social Games.” However, Molyneux now says that he hasn’t discounted the possibility of working with consoles.

Whatever the new project turns out to be, and whatever your feelings about the man himself, it's going to be worth keeping a very close eye on. Molyneux remains a singularly fascinating figure.

Microsoft treated him too well? So he couldn't come up with any new material that he wanted Microsot to have?

Supposedly it sold 600,000 in the U.S. + Europe + other regions at launch, which is pretty weak. And Pachter (yeah yeah, though he does get access to good short-term information from companies/retailers) said it sold less than 125,000 in March, which if true is pretty damn bad.

And KH is bombing hard too. 80 percent drop off of last week's sales which were troubling their own? I don't play KH games, so I wouldn't know, but is this franchise/spin-off fatigue setting in?

Given how insanely well the 3DS is selling, the numbers KH: Large Bra is pulling are pretty concerning, yeah.

Then again I'm pretty thoroughly sick of KH at this point and I'm a pretty big animation/Disney nerd.

Kingdom Hearts games always drop heavily during the 2nd week. What's worrisome are its lousy first week sales for a KH title. I think only Re:coded did worse.

I chalk that up to people getting sick of nonsense side stories. The official Kingdom Hearts 3 would probably do much better.

    Sorry, edited post.

That said, the fact that the PSP is still selling better than the Vita is a bit worrying.

I'm having a difficult time reading that graph.

"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor
My new novel: Maledictions: The Offering. Now in Paperback!
