I feel like saying stuff like this is kind of counter intuitive because then, even involuntarily, you're building it up to be a little bigger than it is. This isn't a movie that doesn't work if you know the twists and turns the story takes.
I didn't know anything about the movie until my husband said one day that we should see it. Movies tend to stay off my radar, especially horror ones. I didn't even know that you weren't supposed to know anything about it gong into it until after the movie.
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
I'd say all you should know going in is that it's a movie that is good for fans of the genre. Which could mean a couple of things, so it's a pretty safe thing to tell someone.
the only thing I knew about this movie was 'horror' and 'knowing it's horror is probably too much'
it blew me right the hell away
I should probably buy this Bluray
also, assuming I marathon it
should I watch Dollhouse?
Eh.
It's got some pretty good episodes and some incredibly weak ones.
Enver Gjokaj and Fran Kranz kill when they're on screen, but Eliza Dushku is mediocre to bad as the lead. First season slowly builds from shit to actively good, but second season is more up and down.
Still, it's a helluva showcase for Gjokaj. He's got Gary Olman++ range.
I watched this last night and liked it a bunch, and also I want to talk about it which is always a pretty good sign of a quality product, I guess! Anyways, Fran Kranz was not the best part of the movie (that's probably Bradley Whitford or Richard Jenkins if we're just going on an acting scale) mostly because his uh, stoner voice? I dunno if that's how he normally talks, but anyways, kinda grating, especially right at the beginning.
Also, as far as references
It's cool that they had some Left4Dead stuff in there, video games have had some real neat (and kinda iconic) horror stuff in their history, so it's nice to see even one game get a nod. Also! I am 100% convinced that the giant hand coming out of the ground at the end is a Carrie reference. PROVE ME WRONG.
you're probably right actually
hadn't even thought of that
also the best part of the movie was the fucking bong
That spoiler Geebs put about the ending makes so much sense.
Also, I loved Kranz in this movie. I don't know if I'd say he was the best part of the film, because there were so many great parts, but yeah, I loved every scene with him.
Just saw this the other day. I'm not usually one to gush over hot chicks in movies but god damn blonde chick. God damn.
The movie itself was NOTHING like what I expected, but I really enjoyed it. We need more movies that are this intelligent and self-aware. It really felt like the Watchmen of horror movies, at the risk of sounding like a total douche.

thank god you the thread was revived with such a new and interesting and refreshing opinion that isn't shared by every single person that saw this movie

Why I fear the ocean.

Steam
good eye
fuck you MGM why did you go bankrupt
if you are looking to get into more Whedon stuff that is easily the weakest of his tv shows
so, probably not?
well that would help explain the boomer cameo

Then it has come full circle. You have been replaced, Amy Jo-kun
Though to be fair Amy Jo Johnson went on to be a hard-nosed TV cop instead of slutting the fuck out in a horror movie
Do you guys also think that it was incredible?
It could have used a tad more subtly here and there though. THAT IS ALL
Yes.
i definitely can't think of a time when a button like that would be helpful
Satans..... hints.....
But a big red button right in the middle of everything

Enver Gjokaj as Fran Kranz is the best thing.
