So things have been pretty weird for me lately. I have a few anecdotes to share.

First, my best friend just got promoted to Store Manager at Starbucks down south in Indy, getting his own store in another town. Thats pretty cool for him, but now they promoted a shift manager to assistant, and need a new shift manager. Part of his training is hiring the new one. His boss got the likely application, and he is doing the interviews. My other friend who recently had to move down there has an interview today with Starbucks for a shift manager position. Yes, my best friend is interviewing another friend whome he has never met. Weird.

Also, last night an ex-employee of mine asked if she could use me as a reference. She moved to LA and is trying to get a job. The manager of the retail store she applied to called me. It was a girl I've gone to school with since elementary, whom I haven't heard from since graduation 8 years ago.

And lastyly, holy shit this is happening: http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/indiana-police-gunman-takes-unknown-number-of-hostages-inside-valparaiso-real-estate-office/2012/05/25/gJQAAPh9pU_story.html thats in my town, I couldn't go to the gym today because they have all the streets blocked off. And I have a friend who works as a secratary in that office. She was off work today though thank god. Hopefully everyone makes it out ok

So yeah, the world is insane. What crazy weird stuff has been happening to you lately?

Naw, management actually had food brought in for us, it was really nice of them!

But I have seen yard workers cooking lunch that way, not here but at previous jobs

I got hired to do what is essentially my dream job for the summer, with basically no credentials, and get to live on a resort island to boot. They have cheap on-site housing for employees, which is nice.

and then I won a drawing through my current/old/now-seasonal job through a program they're running to encourage employees to take part in special health programs through our health insurance, I won the drawing for $200. That'll be added to my next/last (for now) paycheck from them.. which is scheduled on the same day I start my summer job.

I just found some nice fitting shorts at Kohls for the summer.

When I sit down, they don't go over my knee, but still remain a rather classy length. This shocked my friend into taking a picture specifically of this glorious event.

I'll be a historical interpreter. Basically I pretend to be an 1880s soldier and fire (original!) rifles and cannons and do drill demonstrations and give talks and lead tours and stuff. And I get to sing. And maybe play bugle (if I can retain any of my trumpet skills from over 10 years ago - and giving up trumpet is one of the greatest regrets of my life). Also I'll get to play an 1812 Redcoat soldier in programs commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812, too.

    I am

    absurdly excited.

Also it should be pretty obvious to any Michiganders where I'm talking about even though I've been careful about not mentioning the name even though it probably doesn't matter. but whatever. Excited!

Also I should totally be reading my training materials right now instead of posting on the forum, lol.

What battle field is this at? edit: I missed the part where you were avoiding saying the name. I'm pretty sure I know where this is though

I'm pretty pumped for the festivle season to pick up around here. Blueberry Fest, Pork Fest, Marshmallow Fest, Popcorn Fest, Johnny Appleseed Fest, Feast of the Hunters Moon. Late summer into early fall is the best time for seeing cool stuff and stuffing your face
