So I had a funny thing happen. I was fighting the cyclops near heavens peak and it knocked my healer off the cliff. I decided she was worth more than a silly ambush quest so I tried to slide down to her. I landed next to her with 64 health. Res her. Told the other two pawns to leap to their doom, its okay, I'll res em. My own pawn is all YES MASTER I OBEY and leaps off immediately. I res her.
Calm is still up there. I'm like COME. And she's like "Nuh uh". I repeat this a few times. She doesn't trust me. She doesn't believe in me. I'm hurt. So I turn and walk away.
SPLAT.
I go back and res her. She didn't wanna be left alone.
Incidentally Hindsight slash for fighter also has invincibility frames.
Oh yeah, I had the innkeeper from Gran Soren die during an escort so I used up a wakestone on him. I need that Inn!

Go fighter for the stacking str augment first. I've still got some fighter stuff to buy and try out then I'm switching to strider then assassin.

Escorting Reynard to the Greatwall at level fucking 14 was a laugh. I actually did it, too. The last stretch was me, with one pawn left alive (they managed to not get knocked off the cliff on the way) at night, getting chased by phantasms and a chimera with me fucking carrying the asshole for the last part, both of us one hit from dying.
I think that quest is meant for NG+... the fact that you did it on your first play is impressive.
That would make sense. I now feel slightly silly but mostly awesome.
Are you the magic man?

I GOT A SNAKESKIN PURSE.
Had that fucking quest for over 29 hours and FINALLY got one. I found it in Soulflayer Canyon of all frigging places as well!
How much does a man have to hate crows to offer 75,000 gold to take down two dozen of them?
Crows must've murdered his parents when he was a lad. Considering how dangerous Gransys is for NPCs, actually, I wouldn't be surprised.
Also - How far am I in the main quest if I've just
defeated the cockatrice in Gran Soren?

It's random where it spawns. Sometimes it can be in really odd places.

Edit: NO MAYA DON'T JUM-
Sigh. Just me now. In a dark scary canyon.
Soulflayer is hell on pawns. Heck, and sometimes me. I got knocked off with some mega hit one time and went into some animation I've never seen before. I looked unconscious and I was completely upside down like I was diving into the water below, but without my arms stretched out. It was sort of awesome to fall that long and then survive (The Brine is an oddly kindly soul). Was a very Gandalf moment. Ironically I'm pretty sure one of my pawns said "you shall not pass" or something that sounded like that right before I was thrown off.
And damn you, I've had that purse quest for nearly as long.
I tried the saurians and the fish spots like Rubycat said as well. I am forever denied a fancy purse!
Sounds like just about every escort quest ever. It's such a bitch you can't save during them. @Foefaller, sent Leanna some gear. Holla if they got through.
You, sir, are a gentleman, and your pawn is getting hired. I've been looking for the Direwolf Veil ever since I found the cloak that goes with it! And thanks to the two drake kills I've done, I had the mats to fully upgrade the arms, and only 1 piece away from 3 star-ing the clothes as well.
So, I totally did not realize I was going to what would lead to "post-game".
When the guy said "you won't see Gran Soren for a while" I figured he meant it would be a long quest, not that I'm going to fight the final battle. Will I be unable to finish any side quests once I am done with that fight? There were a couple I didn't do, like the last one in Selene's quest line. I also still haven't gotten the one to go the Blighted Manse.
Are you sure? I haven't gotten quite that far yet, but I belive that
Like that other game with dragons, you accually get to fight it once before you get to the *real* end.
Though I would like someone to correct me if I'm wrong, cause if I am, I'm at the exact same spot and have the same worries as him.
Thanks a bunch for taking my Jun out folks, appreciate it. She's levelled up lots more and I've set her up with Comestion and Brontide. It is nuts.
Also, the craziest thing happened. I decided to take an escort mission, my first, to Shadow Fort. Set off in the morning and got near the waycastle and a little south of that some bandits were killing an NPC who was pleading for help. Sadly I was too slow in despatching the goons because I refuse to use the daggers and just plink away with my bow. Finished with the bandits, I mosey onward and there's fucking 8 Saurians. GAH! Fine game, I'll kill them, just you watch!
!
I've killed like 3 of them and a Chimera comes along! Out of nowhere. Couple deaths later and some tactical rethinking (and a tonne of luck) and its done! Cleared the immediate area and got some neat materials. I shall continue onward to Shadow Fort! Despite it being night, I refuse to turn south and head toward the encampment, even though its right there. Serioiusly, I can see it from way over here but nope, I'll muster on, the worst of it is over now anyway.
NOPE!
ARMORED CYCLOPS. Fine. Sure. I can deal with it. I'll just keep spamming the Dire shot from a distance an- WHAT!? Oh come on! Saurians too?! So now I can't hang back and plink away at the cyclops.
God, I love this game so much. And Hashtag is a blessing, I just loaded him up with 250 empty bottles and we're gonna fill those up at the healing spring. ANd then maybe have some tea and crumpet and sing some nursery rhymes.
As an update to this, I managed to kill the Cyclops after around 20 attempts. The problem was visuals, since it was night and in a wooded area. And not even a minute after I kill it, I find a fucking Dragon.
I just saw red eyes in the dark and thought "YAY another Chimera!" but NOPE. Dragon. And man, they are huge. Funnily enough I got the heart to show on the very first hit with an arrow. Got all excited about it but realised pretty darn quickly that I wasn't doing much at all in the way of damage. OUCH. So i ran toward the objective marker way north. Shadow Fort is well out of the way. Anyway quest complete and Gryphic thingamy get. In storage for now but when I roll a warrior it'll come in handy.

Can you hand in a forged one? If you're on 360, add me as a friend and I'll forge one for you and give you it.

...and I belive she uses Voice 3, if I'm right.
You can buy the Direwolf Veil from the merchant at the rest camp near the drake spawn. But only in post game and if you max his affinity. He sells pretty good leather armor. Almost all the gear I sent is from him.
Man, I take a weekend off to read a book, get back to the game, and find its just as addicting as before. I get home from work, fire it up to get a little bit of gaming in, and next thing I know, its 9:30pm and I still haven't bothered with dinner yet. I may have to start setting alarms or something just to be safe.

There's a hydra at the Shadow Fort? Is that post-game? I've still only seen that one hydra from the beginning.
Monsters start to spawn after you encounter them. This is why doing escorts early, for example before the Griffin quest, can be quite important. You won't run into certain obnoxious monsters if you don't do the quests. For example there is a Cockatrice in Soulflayer Canyon if you trigger its event first - making a certain section a total pain in the ass.
Edit: Oops, I um, accidentally pushed the wrong thing and prematurely gave away my purse.
So Dylan just up and vanished on me in the Griffin's Bane quest at Bluemoon Tower... which is BAD, because some stupid strider pawn killed her self by grabbing onto the damn thing while hovering over a crevasse... *face-palm*. Thank God I'm a Mystic Knight with Fire Enchanter and a Staff, along with Steffen to help, or this battle would be impossible now. At least I'll get much more EXP for it.
DLC codes, no idea what they're for but help yourself. I know ones an armor upgrade, ones a pawn upgrade and ones a weapon upgrade. That's about it. PSN version of the game.
My bank is the fullest. The fullest. I throw everything in there. I don't sell anything because that takes too long, I am lazy, and there is this big storage bank that is apparently unlimited.
Eventually my collection will explode out the doors of the inn and start flowing through the streets of gran soren. I will be able to navigate by the reflection of the sun off the piled helms and armors towering above the walls.
The new currency will be monster bits.
I don't sell anything either. I have over half a million golds right now and not nearly enough things to spend it on yet so I just don't feel any pressure to
This morning I engaged in a ballista duel with a pack of goblins. This is like a sniper duel, but with massive explosive-tipped darts. I lost.
The gold and silver idol upgrades, depending on how geared you are already, can run you a total of 5-700k+
So it does seem like you lose out on any side quests after doing the great wall stuff.
I almost got killed just trying to get to gran soren but was able to kill the evil eye. Can I never go back to the castle now? I guess I definitely missed the blighted manse.
Any recommendations on what to do now? I am level 50 and feel underpowered now.
Just picked up this game on PS3. Enjoying it so far. I...may have made all Game of Thrones characters.
I added myself to the Google doc. Feel free to add me if you'd like Sandor Clegane to accompany you/kill all things. Shame there's no "burn scars" option.

Actually while I'm asking, any other suggestions for stuff people would like me to try with Lezard?
Right now he's set up like...
High Brontide
High Levin
High Glicel
High Miasma
High Fulmination
High Comestion
But I'm still experimenting with spell setups, I'll say that I really love having High Levin for making Cyclops fights a breeze, and I just recently put High Fulmination there so I haven't really had a chance to see if that works out well. High Brontide and Glicel are great when they go off for the huge damage to the vast majority of enemies in the game. And I love High Miasma for crowds.
I'm pretty much open to changing anything if people notice some things working better than others, though.

Well, tried the escort quest, Mercedes to Shadowfort.
Six feet outside of the capital, Griffin swings down, picks up Mercedes, drops her off a cliff. Quest failed.
Annnnnnnnnd that's a ragequit.
Correct response would be to quit without saving...and then start laughing hysterically.
I made sure it hadn't saved. I was just so flabbergasted that it happened at all. I was plinking away with my fire arrows while my dwarf warrior pawn Tyrion was doing his best to hit it in the face with a hammer, when all of a sudden it took off, dive bombed back at us, and flew away. I looked around for a bit, watching as the Griffin got higher and higher, and then looked back around and thought, "Huh. Where's Mercedes?"
QUEST FAILED.
"Oh. That's where she went."
I managed to do the quest tonight with no casualties.

FYI, for Talent in Bloom, you won't get the full 3 stars if you're cheeky and hand the thing back to her straight away, even though you can complete it that way.
I also somehow missed out on 3 stars for the male bandit quest. I thought you could get full credit for that by choosing the non-combat way only?

We need more cool people on PSN to make Valkyrie Profile pawns.
I need to run with a party of Lezard, Hrist, and Rufus or Mystina or something. I'd even take a lame character like Llewelyn or something.
EDIT: it suddenly occurs to me that if I made Lenneth an Arisen, she would best fit as an Assassin so she could use sword and bow.
I have two more PSN ID's (one for each region) and, I'd love to make a Lenneth or Sylmeria pawn. I really need to brush up on my VP characters, however.
