    I've never really understood trepidation about weird stuff. Sometimes I hear people use weird as if it's a synonym for bad, and I just want to grab them and shake them and scream "WEIRD IS NOT BAD. WEIRD IS JUST WEIRD."

    Of course a talking pigeon and a knife-strapped rodent would say that.

    By no means am I saying weird things are necessarily bad things in my book. Quite the opposite, in fact. I suppose I haven't been in the mood for something properly "weird" lately. But clearly Zeno Clash is worth playing, judging by general reaction to it on the internets. I will sit down and give it a try some time this month.

    Looks amazing. Haven't quite finished the original yet - started it and played for a couple of hours before trekking to see family for a couple of weeks. Looking forward to punching more bizarre individuals in beautiful locations when I finally return home!

    Yeah I didn't want to say that you were saying that, it's just that your comment reminded me of people who do say that sort of thing.

    I can't wait for it to come out! I also hope it has native controller support, or gets a console release quickly. I preferred the controls in the 360 version.

    I love that random ass giant arm sticking out of the ground at the end. So goooood.

    I, for one, enjoyed the Mako.

    I imagine that the discussion went something like:

    "Should we include a 'retro' filter for our graphics?"
    "Why the fuck not?"
    "We are so high right now."

    Did not realize that this was out next week. I am all sorts of ready to punch some surrealist birdrhinos or whatever, though.

    12 hours. I'm pumped.

    I will also be getting extreme dental work right before I get to play it. It shall be a strange experience on whatever painkillers the dentists sends me home with.

    The game looks as visually stunning as the first, but the AI seems terribly passive in battle.

    Oh and the devs stated on the Steam forums to make sure to play the tutorial/prologue first. It's a separate entry on the menu. They've changed up a handful of things. They made it standalone because apparently they found a lot of people forgot the more advanced stuff from the first game's tutorial, and wanted people to be able to jump into it any time, but they appear worried veterans will skip it thinking they don't need to be taught anything or catch up on the story.

    Got it and played the tutorial/prologue. Great for getting up to speed with the storyline, and I'd recommend it for the combat. There's a few significant changes that threw me off, as I'd played through the first game the day before. It'll probably take me a while to shake irrelevant combat habits from the first game and get used to the sequel combat now.

    The FOV is really bothering me in combat. It's the same as the first game I guess, which didn't bother me. Might just be the new moves. With increased focus on things like juggling, the zoom in makes it feel weird. The enemy fills up so much of the frame that I can hardly tell what I'm doing during moves like that. They've said on the forums they're going to try and figure something out, but it may be hard/impossible given the way the game is setup.

    Finished playthrough - devoured it in one setting yesterday before collapsing. Story is done and continuing the game places you right before the final encounter, so there's a chance to go back and find stuff. Collectibles I've got my eye on are the 'Keycubes' which apparently unlock further story elements. Also need to get around to recruiting a family member I never did before because I didn't want to lose my ally at the time. Not sure if you can switch out an ally for a previously recruited one.

    I've read about people apparently getting lots of bugs and crashes - the only bug I ever got with any kind of regularity was one where occasionally my character would stop moving and lose the ability to attack, forcing me to restart from a checkpoint. This happened half a dozen times over the course of the playthrough - kind've annoying, though luckily it never happened towards the end of a major battle or anything. My machine's an older one, but I didn't get crashes or glitches like disappearing enemies - I did get a steam update before my full play-through, so I guess maybe make sure you're up to date.

    Devs announced they're patching the FOV today, so I'll probably spend a bit more time with it once it hits. Haven't had any bugs really either save for some random slowdowns for no apparent reason. Usually nothing really happening at the time when it happens.

    Unlocked the Last Tomb and got went through the last of the story, discovering the truth about Zenozoik.
    It was Earth all along.

    It's a really cool universe Ace Team has put together - the gameplay was fun and unique and the story was crazy-compelling. Hope we get another one someday - lots of stuff was completely tied up from the first two games, but there's a few directions they could go in.

    New patch:
    Zeno Clash 2 Version 1.01 is up!
    Fixes:

    - New FOV option in the graphic settings menu where you can choose two FOV options: 'Default' or 'Wide'. If the wide settings are not of you're liking we're opening up the FOV values to be edited in the DefaultGame.ini (Note: This changes only the 'Wide' option).

    Here are the values of the wide FOV that can be custom-edited in the DefaultGame.ini

    [ZC2Game.ZC2Player]
    ;Regular FOV in the game
    closeCombatFOV=100
    ;FOV when punching
    closeCombatClunchedFOV=90
    ;FOV when you have a weapon in your hands
    farCombatFOV=100
    ;Map FOV
    inventoryFOV=100
    ;How much the FOV changes when running
    runFOV_Delta=5
    ;FOV when grabbing an enemy
    grabFOV=90
    ;FOV when deflect-grabbing an enemy
    deflectGrabFOV=80
    ;All weapons have their custom aim FOVs. This number can be used to multiply the FOV values for guns.
    weaponMultFOV=1.1

    - Fixed non-progression getting stuck in the prison.

    This is one of those indie games that really deserves some support. It is pretty creative and made by a team of three brothers. It inspires me to mess with the UDK.

    It kind of sucks that the Ultimate Edition of the first game is only on 360. Hopefully, it will migrate over to Steam, but it has been a while.

    The FOV fix was a pretty big godsend. It fucked up my map, but the map wasn't great to begin with, so oh well.

    I'm getting a little worn down by some quirks of the combat system. The double key moves are generally the more interesting/powerful and good for crowd control, which you'll need given the generally increased amount of people involved in combat. They use up some of your special bar. You're SUPPOSED to earn special bar by regular combat/defeating enemies but it feels pretty random at times. Just killed a guy that didn't fill up my bar at all, and I beat him down from near full health. The combat can get a little dull without these moves. Getting the shit beat out of you seems to fill it fast, which is nice, I guess. Just feels like it should be more consistent/easier to earn.

    Pretty cool. 65 pages. Wacky art. Neat development tid-bits. Some story spoilers though. There's a preview here:

    Plus the soundtrack is reportedly rad.
