That's not true... I mean, sure, the show changed after the third season, but it didn't get worse. And if it did, it was when it went to UPN, not college.
Hell, the only episodes nominated for emmy's were from seasons four, five, and six.
WITH FRIENDSHIP
Best character redemption ever.
Does this refer to Emmy nominations?
No to the season 6 finale.
spike turning into a sissy little bitch
glory's appalling acting
the stupid sister character
the orc rip off ending, complete with deus ex machina and girl power
oh christ
The season finale of season 4 is arguably the best thing that has ever been on television.
And, I thought The Body was a really good showing of grief and powerlessness in the face of loss.
I can understand your dislike, but I don't really agree.
People don't dislike her because she's accurate, they dislike her because she sucks some of the fun out the show by existing.
Buffy had better characters to begin with, but Angel's cast developed in far more interesting ways while the Scoobies only became more irritating with time.
Buffy sort of lost her mind, recovered only to give speeches about war every week, and then ultimately compared herself to cookie dough in the most painful extended simile I've ever experienced.
Xander remained essentially unchanged, but gradually became less suited for the role of the squirmy, self-conscious comic relief as he began to outsize the tough protagonist by a considerable degree and it became more and more apparent that he was over 30 years olds.
Willow transition to a considerably more self-assured lesbian/witch was interesting, until she turned into a junkie in one of the most ham fisted allusions to drug abuse since Jessie Spano covered The Pointer Sisters while hopped up on caffeine. Then she lost her interesting girlfriend with the dark back story that was never revisited, became a generic villain even though the perfect template for evil Willow had been shown on two occasions, was finally convinced that maybe bringing about the apocalypse wasn't an appropriate coping mechanism, and then settled down with a pierced tongue attached to some girl.
And I know Faith was never really part of the main cast, but it was terrible how a sexy, brutal villain was reduced to a bunch of cheesy catch phrases in her last few appearances. "It's like riding a biker." Ugh.
Dawn actually had some really good lines, but she was annoying more often than not and towards the end they really didn't seem to know what to do with her.
Best Buffy Big Bad ever was The Mayor.
I will accept no argument. He kicked ass.
Those two, along with Smile Time and Don't Fade Away from Angel, are probably the best things that were even done with the buffy series.
You're not kidding.
And yeah, Hush and Once More with Feeling were both after the high school.
I don't think it's even possible to argue that as the best thing that has ever been on television. Not only that, but that wasn't even the time I was talking about. That means that the world was saved by the power of friendship TWICE.
And the stupid robot character with no real features other than big tough robot? Boooooooooo
John Ritter was a scarier robot.
Do you even know what episode I'm talking about? It didn't have anything to do with saving the world.
Although the "best thing on television" was somewhat hyperbole....
Let's just all agree that seasons six and seven were absolute horse shit with the (possible) exception of Once More With Feeling, okay?

Hush was season 4 and OMWF was season 6.
You're also leaving out The Gift, season 5 finale which is among the best episodes ever.
I'm also a big Restless fan (season 4 finale) but I can understand why not everyone loves it.
My main problem with season 6 is Tara.. not that I dont like Tara, she was a great character.. but she was only written in due to Oz leaving, the orginal plan was for Oz to die at the hands of Glory in season 5 prompting her descent into evil. Tara slid into his role in the arc.. but when season 5 rolled around Joss couldnt bring himself to kill her off so he put the storyline off for a season.
All the Willow/Tara/magic addiction drama really dragged season 6 down for me.
Conversations with Dead People was also good.
Actually, wasn't Oz supposed to be killed by Angel way back when, not Glory?
I've never heard of anyone planning for Glory to kill Oz. I mean, Oz left before season four was even finished.
Oh shi
Selfless and Lies My Parents Told Me are also pretty good season 7 eps.
I dont think anyone is saying seasons 6 and 7 were up to par with the rest of the show, but they werent complete crap. Hell they arent any worse than season 1 and season 2 is hit and miss until the Surprise/Innocence 2 parter.. which is when the show really hit it's stride.
Nah, he was supposed to die in season 5, Joss had the whole Buffy/Dawn/key thing planned out way ahead of time. They first start dropping hints to it way back at the end of season 3. Remember the shared dream Buffy has with Faith when she's in a coma? Thats what it's about.
Interesting stuff.
I need to get the box sets and find at least one other person willing to go through them all with commentary on.
And I heard some people say that seasons 6 and 7 were their favorites, which strikes me as odd. I can see 5; the main storyline was easily the most in-depth, and a lot of the plot points (especially Joyce,) hit very hard. I wouldn't call 6 or 7 shit, though. They had their bad episodes, but I still think they were better than most television at the time, or even now, really. Hell, I'd take an average Buffy episode over a healthy percentage of Lost.

Actually, Spike was lead singer for a band at the time too... not sure which one. I love that episode because it's clear Allison Hannigan is the worst singer, and they only give her like, three lines in the whole episode.
olol opinions?
season four of angel was painfully painful, but after actually finishing it I raised my opinion of it just a tad from ''worst thing ever ever''
I think the part that disappointed me most was connor could have been an awesome character, but we only really got two or three episodes of his redemption arc, of him being a well-adjusted person
because when connor was happy, he was an absolute badass, and I got many boners from seeing him and angel just beating shit up
and that's what makes me sad, is that connor was written well, once you realize he was written to be hated
he's a pissy little teen who goes crazier and crazier, 'cause, hey, bad shit's happened to him
I can't really blame him for wanting to tap some crazy cordelia ass
also the only reason joss made her pregnant for that season was because charisma carpenter had gotten herself knocked up as well
No shit, numbnuts.
And a lot of shows are trying it nowadays. Didn't scrubs have a musical episode recently?
God, it was terrible.
I mean every guest episode was a freaking laugh riot when Spike appeared. I mean his dialog when he sees angel rescue that girl from the roof top in Season 2 (i think ) was hilarious.
