Don't know, we'll see how it goes. So far she's been really painless, but once we're into it she's pretty wussy when it comes to pain so it's a possibility. We'd prefer to stay mobile and able to push properly, though, so we'd like to only go there if we need to.
It'd be nice to get lucky at something in this pregnancy though. We'd be about due for something to break our way.
Rachel really wanted to go all-natural for the birth but the pain got really bad she ended up opting for the epidural (though obvs not the narcotic stuff since that could affect the baby)
It worked out well for her, I think. But yes, luck to you both! I hope I don't sound condescending a all!

my brother was born something ludicrous like 6 weeks premature and now he's a swole rugby playing teacher
Don't worry if the birth doesn't go exactly as planned. I doubt it ever does. Like Mori, my wife wanted to go all natural, and ended up getting the epidural. She was happy for it though, since it gave her more time to concentrate on the experience instead of the pain.
Alright, monitoring all over and application of labour-inducing gel re-applied. We've gone from silent contractions every 7-8 minutes at the start of the morning to silent contractions every 5 minutes, althouhg Jen is saying she's beginning to feel a little something. We're about to shoot off and grab some lunch; nothing more is going to happen medically for another 3 hours.
yeah that's what you think

It was the tiredness that got me!!! I honestly believe I could've worked through the pain so long as I'd been able to continue standing but I was freaking EXHAUSTED. I had done six hours of housework and not slept in 36+ hours!!! I got the epidural to have a chance to sleep and then it turned out I'd gone through transition anyway and was ready to push, boo.
I hope Jen's feeling a little more rested, Fishman! Wishing you all the very best! I certainly don't envy her right now and I hope you'll get to meet your son soon!

Alright, we're up to contractions every 3ish minutes and the OB has broken her water. Jen's going to take a bath and possibly not get out again for several hours. I'm not sure how this works.

I tells ya.
Take the epidural.
But nobody listens to Munkus.

Those are only for the mothers. Where's the fairness in this world, I ask you?

We have the benefit of being in a newly rebuilt hospital, so our room is nice and spacious. There's a tub, and a twin shower, and a shower for the tub; swiss ball, ensuite, and enough room for 17 people if she wanted.

Is she gonna get an epidural?

I thought they just injected a boatload of oxytocin or progesterone or something. It's been a while since I've seen the videos.
Also, the word "progesterone" looks like it should be the name of a type of soup.

Yeah, actually, that used to be her title on her rarely used forum profile.
I thought I was clever
congratulations, by the way!
What about Jen? Is she in there?
