I also know those guys! They came to a convention I was attending...inside my friend's house. ProJared was actually the guest of honor, but they made an appearance as surprise guests. They seemed like really awesome guys. The three of them were mostly chatting about how much work they put into some videos only to get little attention, compared to some of the really horrible game people on YouTube that get millions of views. I felt a little bad since I had never seen their show, and all I could offer was that I watched DeceasedCrab sometimes...none of them seemed very impressed by that.
This was the same event where I actually figured out what Jared is famous for. I should ask him about Grumps next time...

The reason I wanted to start this thread was to share and celebrate the underdogs. A lot of people who make web shows struggle to sustain a certain amount of quality and build their audience. Having started a show myself recently I have only just begun to understand how hard it is. I got a little lucky with one of my videos being posted on Kotaku and IGN though. Billy and Jay put a crazy amount of detail and time into their episodes while other productions don't. This doesn't mean that other shows with a lack of polish don't deserve their audience. You can argue that Game Grumps or similar shows are worthless, but I don't believe they are. They found an audience pretty easy because people really enjoy what they do. Also, their ability to produce multiple episodes in a day helps them build their audience rapidly. Shows like the Game Chasers can not produce episodes at that pace because of the time it requires to film and edit.
You can also attribute many shows success to their partnership with groups like TGS and Machinima. These groups help advertise and market shows that can produce multiple episodes quickly (regardless of quality in many instances). So if you have ever seen a YouTube page that gets millions of views and you see their logo on that page, they are usually not getting the advertising revenue you think they are. That reduced pay check gives them huge viewership, as groups like the ones mentioned above market to people like you folks. It's super effective since I am quite sure many of you don't even realize your being sold shows like that!
what sucks is machinima has a pretty bad rep when it comes to how they treat their 'clients'. if i was a successful youtuber i would stay far the fuck away from them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aTEbqBqP8Q

Gamester81 has been making videos for a few years now and his style really hasn't changed. He might not be the most enigmatic YouTuber out there but he always has alot of information on whatever he covers. Below is his video on the new Pandora hand held.

A friend of mine asked me to help him in his video retrospective on LucasArts. I know there are a few of you who have a deep affection for their classic games and SCUMM series so I think you might like this!
Also, PushingUpRoses did a new video on a really cool game I really liked playing when I were little!
(Caution: It's a little freaky!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYibPlpNIvI
Also just to clarify, Roses and I have videos on the same site but this ISN'T an advertisement. She just happened to pick an awesome game to talk about this week is all!

Here is another awesome Game Sack episode on overlooked gems!
I know this is super silly, but I was really into HAWP until I started listening to their podcast and was like, "Oh, they are into Doctor Who too. That's neat...wait, oh god they have diametrically opposed opinions on Doctor Who...I really hate to say this, but I don't think we can be friends anymore..."

A dear friend of mine released his latest video, which happens to be a rap about classic games. Yup.
Lately I haven't been posting because I've been seriously busy with my own YouTube series and another daily video game news series that just started up. I just joined a small network and started working and collaborating with people who many of you folks probably know. Can't really discuss much about that right now though.
While talking to people and exploring the depths of YouTube I found a whole bunch of amazing and talented producers who are not getting the views they deserve. These people are just fantastic and are making seriously well done content. Pay close attention to these folks, you will be seeing them explode in popularity really soon.

So I've been watching a lot of stuff from The Nerd Slam lately. It's a channel run by indie wrestlers The Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno and Stupefied), and they and their friends do...
I'd never heard of Epic Game Music until checking out this thread. Watching a couple of the videos, I immediately recognized most of the locations he uses in Toronto. So of course, I had to immediately subscribe, and not just because of the talent. Sad that I missed a recent live performance, but I'm sure there'll be more.
