How does this prize awarding work exactly? everyone who actively contributes from folding gets an equal chance each draw? People get better odds the more point they have? Something else?

I believe that everyone who is still currently active has an equal shot. This basically means everyone who's ever contributed now, because the team is young, but eventually people will be removed from "active" status if they don't continue to process WU's.

Ok, for us to know how many PPD we are cranking out, how soon we will pass other teams, etc. We have to break into the top 2000 teams. Once we reach that milestone we will be included in this website:

    http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/

This stats site gives crazy amounts of information. I'll try to keep an eye on it and post our link once we break into the top 2000.

P.S. Snake Gandhi: every little bit helps!!!

P.S.S. Found the stats for the other Penny Arcade team

    http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=34479

Their production has gone through the roof in the last 7 days (nothing like a front page blurb to garner new members). They are currently number 305, so we still have a ways to go.

    Man, do we ever rock.

I have a cool idea that I'm working on to reward everyone on this team. If it comes to fruition, it will be most geeky and sweet.

What I need is a logo for us. Something that could fit on a piece of metal 1" x 2".

Tell you what, lads, How about a competition? Design a logo for Folding Arcadians, winner takes home a sealed copy of Ninety Nine Nights for Xbox 360.

    Sound good?

My last two folds have both errored out and started over. :( I'm up to 57% with this one...hopefully it'll finish. I started the client with --debug in case something goes wrong to find out exactly what's going on.

When you say 1" x 2", is that Height x Width, or Width x Height?

I am assuming the former because the latter would be kinda weird.

Here is what I have come up with so far. Think folded paper (paper that is orange on one side and blue on the other)!

    puck.png

As luck would pucking have it, the F ended up looking like a P, therefore it looks like a PA logo. :(

Edit: I actually folded paper to make a concept for this, by the way. I am totally hardcore.

I changed the color scheme a bit and messed with the letters.

    folding.png

I like it myself, but it seems kinda plain. I dunno. Maybe I should add some light bloom and make it shiny.

(Also thanks for the compliment gilrain :D)

I have added Basic Pages to the ps3 arcadians wiki for VF5, Genji and MotorStorm.

I used the formatting from wikipedia as opposed to the one already used for Resistance because it was easier for me and i edited the Resistance one to also reflect this since no one else is currently updating the wiki

    Hi guys!

I'm on an logged and ranking all of about 478 in the team now and I was just wondering:

1- Are there any damaging implications to leaving your PS3 running all night and day folding (ie drastically reduced life-span of console, chance of it burning my house down etc).

2- If you fold on your PC too, do you have to use a different username, or can you combine your scores from the 2 different platforms?

    Info/advice much appreciated...

26 Work Units completed already. This program is a good test to the stability of the PS3 IMO. I have left my system on in my room for about 10 days straight now, playing games or running F@H. The 360 would have locked up and overheated by now according to everyone of my friends that have one.

Well I don't know about any 360, but mine certainly would've... I love my 360, but on days that I'm doing a long play session (usually weekends) I usually see at least one lockup and/or DRE.

I don't have a PS3, but I have never heard of anyone burning down their house from running FAH. Just make sure that you PC/PS3 is in a well ventilated area and keep an eye on it for any strange behavior.

You can use the same username on 2 different platforms. Just make sure that you spell it exactly the same and that you are on the same team.

Is it just me, or is the god-damned stats page down about as often as it's up? You would think a nice uni like Stanford could do better than that. :P

Refresh a couple of times. I usually get to the stats in about 5 tries ;-)

By the way, how many clients do you have running and on what hardware?

    krl on
  • gilraingilrain Registered User regular

I can't check the stats page right now to see exactly how many client's I'm running, but it's right around 16-20. That's only around 8-10 computers, though -- two Core 2 Duos in there, but mostly just old P4s with HyperThreading.

It's my personal laptop and a handful of the more idle servers at work. If I were a less responsible sysadmin, I could have a lot more clients running, but I want to make sure not to impact our more important servers. :)

Yeah, it's been driving me nuts. I can't wait until we break the top 2000, then we can use ExtremeOC's stats page instead of Stanford's.

Ahh... if only I could be an inconsiderate BOFH, then I would load FAH on every freakin' machine my employer owns.

Ok, so I'm up and running on pc and PS3 now, but I might have encountered a glitch:
The work unit on pc has an estimated completion time of 104 days! My system isn't super high-end, but it's 2.8gb processor with a gig of dual-channel ram, surely it can go faster than that can't it?
