There are some new videos of Ninja Gaiden Sigma over at gametrailers and some new screens and info over at IGN. This looks hot... I'm definitely buying this when it comes out, which is pretty impressive because I also own NG and NG:B and I still think this is going to be worth it.
This is almost laughable. Check out the Trailer 2 with the game designer explaining how this Ninja Gaiden Sigma is suppose to be a 'broadening of the game to put it in the hands of people who may not have otherwise been able to get it.'
And he wants it to be on the PS3?
EDIT: Oh my God. Rachel's boobs are like. Over the top even for normal video game women.

I'd post screens but won't for the sake of the h-scroll
Anyway, list of new stuff in NG:Sigma
Playable Rachel for three new chapters which are included in the main game
New boss fights and enemies include Gamov and motorcycle riders
New weapon: dual swords
Improved water combat
SIXAXIS controls (apparently you shake the conroller to increase magic power)
This looks nice and all, and I'm a big fan of the original, but I'd really like to play a new game. Not that I'll ever own the PS3, but still. I'd like to at least know that there's a new NG game, and that it's good.

Seriously fuck Sigma, fuck Black, fuck super deluxe 9000 version. Make a new game already quit shoveling the same game down our throats for the all time.
Yes ok we know you guys made a good game.. THREE YEARS AGO.
I hate Team Ninja and Itagaki can go choke and a dick and die.
This remake the same fucking game thing of theirs is really getting retarded. I mean seriously they haven't made a decent game in 3 years and still act like they are the hottest shit ever.

DOAX2 kinda changed all that I think, for better or worse. :P
This is fucking amazing. Seriously, watch the 7 minute video with the developer talking about his game. This is amazing. She slashes her staff-thing and then pauses while her chest heaves back and forth. Now, I'm as red blooded, boob loving, American as most - but this really sickens me. I mean, that's gotta hurt like a mother fucker - jumping around with all those boobs.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. NG: Black had all of the previously XBL-exclusive content and then some at a rather agreeable price. It's just the sort of re-release I wouldn't mind seeing more often; same goes for DMC3:SE.

I feel like Ninja Gaiden is generally the most highly regarded action game of this generation, second maybe to God of War II, and yet it doesnt ever seem to get talked about on this forum. Its always God Hand, or Devil May Cry, or something else.
Anyone else notice this?
I think it probably has to do with its absolutely awful setting and narrative. The whole thing is just so irredeemable.

I can MAYBE excuse Black just maybe. It did come out like a couple months later and was basically like the greatist hits version, sorta like fable the lost chapters.
But past Black? No way Team Ninja can go blow off.
And no one talks about NG for one obvious reason I stated above. ITS FUCKING THREE YEARS OLD. We already talked about it! Three years ago infact.... It hasnt changed.

It is quite literally, not for you. Sigma is intended for people who have never owned an Xbox; in other words, people who buy Playstations instead - in other words, most of Japan.
Also, this isn't being done by Itagaki.
...Ninja Gaiden Sigma is suppose to be a 'broadening of the game to put it in the hands of people who may not have otherwise been able to get it.'
watch that _you have to download it to really see the difference but native 720p at 60fps with new models and textures really makes a difference. Plus playable Rachel, new weapons etc. I wold consider buying this if nothing else was out at the time.

Awesome video. I shall be picking this up when it's out. I had the original game, no Black version, and never beat it (stopped after the big giant penises).

Just do Ninja Gaiden 2 and have it involve Ashtar in some way, shape, or form, and everyone's happy.
I beat the first two Ninja Gaiden games on the NES in my youth.
I've never bought an XBox/360, nor will I ever.
I own a PS3.
I'm very excited.
Granted, I'm psyched that I finally get to play Oblivion as well, as the six frames per second I got on my laptop didn't really cut the mustard. However, I guess I can see why all these retreads might anger the devoted fan base out there.

You're going to be disappointed, unfortunately. The new one doesn't hold a candle to the original.
It's okay on its own, but both story and difficulty wise, the originals still win.

Oh, you gotta be fucking kidding me.
Even if you really do believe that, your post doesn't make any sense. The games are nothing alike. So the original is better because it's more difficult in an entirely different way? What the fuck i can't even begin to decode this shit.
Do you own ANY sense of objectivity? Does ANYTHING exist outside your own little personal sphere? "It's not as hard as people make it out to be" - GURGLE, you do realize people have varying levels of skill and patience and etc and etc how can you seriously compose a post like this i could go on and on, but jesus fuck

No, I like the original more for a lot of reasons. I didn't think it was necessary to go into detail, but if you insist.
-Music
-Characters
-Story
Difficulty's a distant fourth. The above three are the main reasons why I like the original.
I'm not saying the new one is bad, not by a long shot, I'm just heavily biased towards the NES ones.
That's just my opinion though. I know it's an unpopular one, sue me.
I mostly just don't like remakes where they all but ignore the themes of the original's existence. The main character of the new one doesn't seem anything like the Ryu I grew up on.
Ninja Gaiden could've been my favorite game ever if not for the stupid city areas...I wanted to slash through aweosme Japanese forests and dragons and shit, not some poorly designed, boring city. The undead dragon boss and the intro were the coolest bits, but everything else...eh. It could've been so much more.
Hating on Itagaki for milking Ninja Gaiden doesn't make sense, as the head of Sigma is Yosuke Hayashi (who was the AI designer of NG and NG Black). As Yosuke started work on Sigma, Itagaki was having to oversee work on DOAX2.
Now Itagaki is on NG2 and Hayashi is finishing up Sigma-- makes sense that Sigma's media and stuff come out first, considering that theyr'e making largely the same game with some new features. Regardless, for people that have had Playstation consoles, it'll be their first time in the series, and I'm sure they will love it.
I thought this was a good move, for a couple of reasons:
1. Passing the lead design baton to someone else might be a good thing, as Itagaki is... and interesting character. Hayashi's definitely proven his technical skill with his work on NG and NG:B.
2. Going multiplatform, I had figured, would pressure Devil May Cry to going multiplatform (which I guess it has)
3. Itagaki has stated multiple times that NG2 was coming to the 360. Are the old xbox owners that have played the old game to death really upset about not being able to buy it again?
Likely, Sigma is their experiment to test the waters of the PS3, and if it means multiplatform NG2, sure. With Team Ninja's reputation for delaying the Ninja Gaiden games, I'm sure they'll manage to get it right.

What did you think of 3 on the NES then? They pretty much threw out the entirety of the original story with that as well. I grew up on the original NES games as well, and while they were difficult the first couple play throughs, they were so dependant on patterns that once you played through a level a few times, you could damned near do it with your eyes closed and make it though without losing a health. They were great games, and they were difficult, but the difficulty all but vanished once you knew the placement and patterns of the enemies.

Are there any details on NG2? Because I'm way more interested in that than Sigma.
And I think Itagaki's just an easy target.
Re: above - there's a reason I didn't mention the third. It's not terrible, but it sure isn't as good as the other two.
The new one is better.
I kind of prefer the challenge of memorization than the new one's reliance on insanely powerful/large amounts of enemies, but that's more of a gameplay thing. Again, probably my bias towards the originals too.
Probably the reason that what ticks me off the most about the new NG is that I haven't unlocked the originals yet. :P

I SMOLDER WITH GENERIC RAGE
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Really? A remake of a remake of a game made in the last five years is the reason to buy a PS3? That's pathetic.
Then again, it's not like the FFVII remake won't be a system seller.
I would like to play it.
No its very focused and just rage.
I never asked for this!

Part of the problem with NG is that there isnt much reason to go back and talk about it.

Really? I'm surprised. I remember when the new Ninja Gaiden was released, it was the second coming of hard video games or something.
I can think of quite a few old NES games I never beat. Blaster Master always springs to mind as my 8-bit Moby Dick.
I think a lot of Ninja Gaiden's infamy is because a whole new generation latched onto it that don't know the glory of the originals.
But even I wouldn't get this. Enough is enough.
