JP was one of a handful of movies that my father felt it was of Dire Importance that I see post-haste

he saw it himself and then said, "We need to go see this. Right now."

    others:
    The Matrix
    American History X

if I had been older, I think American Beauty would have been included on this list; as it is, I was only fourteen when it came out, and I think he felt that I was too young to appreciate it

I think he sees a bit of himself in Lester

luckily for him, he found a way to be happy that did not result in his being shot to death by his closeted neighbor

Haven't watch this movie since I was a kid. I was impressed by how good it still is.

But man, like every line Goldblum has is bull.

Help me raise a little cash for my transition costs

Apparently this isn't coming out in the UK until August. What the rancid fuck.

I saw this last night. In IMAX. It was glorious. One of the girls in our party had never seen it, and she screamed so loud at the first raptor scare in the power-bunker thing. It was hilarious. And a T-rex roar is amazing with the theater sound. I thought the 3D was very well done. And aside from the scenes with computers and junk, the special effects hold up. It is so hard to believe this movie is 20 freaking years old! God I love it.

It came out in the UK originally around that time
I know this because I saw it for my 7th birthday, sat front row so no-ones head could get in the way and I could be closer to the dinosaurs.
One of the best birthdays you could have!

Also, if no one had heard this story.
    Conan O'Brien; Wedding Crasher!

    ScreenHunter_1963-Apr.-05-15.55.jpg

Conan O'Brien surprised bride and groom Wes and Victoria Hoffman on Saturday when he showed up at their wedding reception at the Four Seasons in Atlanta. While the zany late-night host wasn't formally invited to the event, he was invited on Twitter! One of the bridesmaids learned that he was staying at the same hotel while he taped his show during the NCAA Final Four, and decided to tweet him an invite on the off chance that he might take notice and join the festivities.

And join he did! The groom told HLN News, "He just walked up and introduced himself, and we were like, wow. He was a really, really nice guy." The funnyman chatted with the bride and groom, talked with guests, and even posed for pics! According to E! News, at one point in the evening, the bride plopped down on Conan's lap, and he took out his phone and showed her photos of his wife and kids, telling her, "This is the best part. It's all about family."

The comedian stayed for about an hour but didn't leave until he showed the groom how to properly cut a rug.

edit: oh she's the coach from Glee, ok. She looks totally different in that photo. Weird angle I guess.

I think "in theaters" is probably the operating parameter there

Sometimes young kids + dark, loud movie theaters = not good

Did you see Wreck It Ralph? She was the space marine character. Jane Lynch is an odd celebrity for me in that I haven't really seen much that she's been in (do not care for Glee) but I absolutely adore her as a person.

Plus she was great in Wreck It Ralph. Go see that if you haven't

If your first touchstone for Jane Lynch is not Constance from Party Down then you need to watch Party Down

Oh hey I'm seeing this in IMAX tonight

A real one, not one of the fake ones

It's a bit of a drive, but it's worth it - I never got to see Jurassic Park in theaters

Also not knowing Jane Lynch is kinda odd

I think my first exposure to her was Arrested Development

But regardless of whether or not you like Glee, it'd be weird not seeing her plastered everywhere because of that

  • smofsmof [Growling historic on the fury road] Registered User regular
I have never seen Arrested Development, Party Down, Wreck it Ralph or The 40 Year Old Virgin. I've only seen bits of Glee because my mum watches it.

The joys of not having TV in the house.

I saw this last night at the Jordan's Furniture IMAX with my brother and a few friends. Not only is it still a great film, it might actually be better than I remember.

Even though I don't usually think of 3D as anything more than a gimmick, it was really well utilized here. The raptor scares and the T-Rex were so much more terrifying in 3D. Also, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Wayne Knight and especially Jeff Goldblum are all wonderful as well.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how this movie is doing at the box office? I know the theater I went to was packed, with tickets selling out pretty fast, and I heard at least another theater nearby was completely sold out for the night.

I kind of feel bad for the people behind the Evil Dead remake, I have a feeling this will impact that movie's total for the weekend pretty hard. It was pretty unfortunate that their film was released at the same time as this. I mean, the original Evil Dead was pretty good, but it's no Jurassic Park.

So I dont know if maybe Ebert's passing made me a little more cognizant about loving movies but I had such an intense rush of nostalgia while seeing this tonight that during the sequence when they first arrive on the island and Grant and Ellie and Malcom are seeing the dinosaurs for the first time, I really remembered how incredible it was to experience that for the first time as a kid and I actually got a little emotional.

I was just thinking about the merchandising for this movie when it first came out.

Suddenly I remembered that Burger King or McDonalds or some place had these Jurassic Park collectors cups with the various dinosaurs on them. T-Rex. Velociraptor. Dilophosaurus. I fucking loved those cups.

I have no idea what ever happened to them now though. I miss those cups.

I was 4 when I first saw it.... Actually now that I think about it I was probably 3 (I think my mom picked it up on VHS when it came out). The only part that scared me was the dilophosaurus, but holy fucking shit that scared me.

Instead of doing work I decided to go see this

I don't think the 3d added anything but gosh this is such a wonderful movie

Like 50 percent of it is the soundtrack but still

That scene makes me well up every time.

    So does the triceratops scene.

    And the big cow scene.

And the kitchen scene, which is maybe a bit weird.

Just love this movie too much.
