so far my fear from the last comic that his son making a game is only interesting to him, seems to be justified. This comic wasn't interesting, and it wasn't funny. The whole thing is just "Hey guys look. My kid played a bunch of games, and then copied the ideas down onto a piece of paper! Isn't that amazing?" Not really, no. But I'm kind of curious where this is going. He said there were 6 comics in this arc, right? (Dear Lord in Heaven.) So something else must be about to happen. It can't just be six comics of his son describing his cliche rpg concepts..can it?
Well, I happen to find a young boy's discovery of tabletop game-design adorable.
And I find you extremely unlikeable. Different opinions and all, but try expressing yours more tactfully.
i know i couldn't be a mod because i would straight up infract this post for sheer unpleasantness.
Same here. Forums are a place to express opinions, but some people need lessons in tact.
It's a kid developing his own tabletop game. What did you expect? It's not about the game, it's about the process- the fact that, at such a young age, he's trying to be just like his father and accomplish something most adults interested in this sort of thing never do.

I'm not a nice guy, I just play one in real life.

I've gotten the most ridiculously silly grin from this comic, you can just feel the enthusiasm his son has to share what's he's made. I was sold at Daggerman!
After playing the original MTG set (back in the 90s), a friend and I tried to make our own CCG based loosely on concepts from Final Fantasy. We made maybe no more than 7 cards and realized how much work it would take to actually make an entire set, and we gave up.
I grew up with Penny Arcade, pretty much, and I love dick jokes as much as the next guy, but sometimes a comic like this grabs me because I am an adult now, and although I still find similar things funny as I always did, I also now find joy in the acts of the young, exploring a past time I love.
When I have a kid (and that may be soon) and if he shows half as much enthusiasm in what I do for a living at such a young age, I'll break down and fucking weep with joy.

I now want to homebrew this.

Wet blanket.
My first thought as well. Quite frankly, I think whatever he comes up with will be better than my ideas.
I really hope they go into all the details of what he came up with. Kids tend to have an awesome imagination, and RPGs are perfect for that.
