I'm really into funky/gourmet burgers as of late. Any recommendations for that in Seattle (without venturing too far from the convention site)?
Lunchbox Laboratory is by the REI, if that's close enough for you...
Lunchbox Laboratory would be about a mile walk with a part of that through a very unpedestrian part of downtown. I wouldn't recommend it. A slightly shorter walk could take you to 8oz Burger Bar on Capitol Hill, but you'll be exhausted because of how much uphill it is. A bus ride on the 49 would take you right to Blue Moon burgers plus a ton of other really great restaurants on that part of Broadway on Capitol Hill. My recommendation for funky burgers close to the convention center is Lil Woody's. Go to blocks up hill and cut through the dog park and you're there. I love the burgers there. Check out their website.

lilwoody's has peanut butter as an available topping. They just made my "Must-Visit" list A nice, juicy burger for lunch or dinner would be... nice and juicy.
Here's what I'm thinking: 1/3 Burger with provolone, bacon, caramelized onion, and peanut butter with fries on the side and a milkshake. Fairly expensive for such a meal, but if the quality is there it'll be worthwhile.

Switch the cheese to swiss and the onions to bananas Foster, add some spicy mayo and you've got my What Killed Elvis burger.

If you got a car and some time before the convention and you are at least 30 which is a hell of stretch, I understand, then it may be worthwhile to head over to Tweede's Cafe. It isn't in seattle and goes well past eastside, but it's where they filmed a lot of Twin Peaks. That probably won't mean anything to too many people but in case it does, they have a wild burger menu. But I think they actually killed the peanut butter one from lack of people ordering it. But they have a little mini museum dedicated to the show and talk about the fire they had. I would be remiss if I didn't mention it at all.
Yeah, peanut butter burgers seemed to be all the trend in Seattle for a while, but then everyone tried one and they're kinda dying out. I think King's Hardware still has one. I tried it, but you can't taste the peanut butter under all the rest of the toppings, so I was kinda like "meh". I'm guessing other places have the same problem.
Happily on Sabbatical. Don't bug me.

Peanut butter works kind of like mayo once it melts. It pairs really nicely with provolone and bacon, from my experience. I tried it a few years back and I've been hooked since Maybe I'll grill some up for myself tomorrow... Hmm...
I think I've got my restaurant rotation settled now, too. There are only so many places I can visit over 5 days

Poutine not so easy to come by. Skillet supposedly has poutine but again I've heard varying things about it. It uses cheddar or cheddar crust instead of curds... That said, you can get amazing curds at beechers(I use them for deep fried cheese curds. Nom!). If you can get the rest, you're golden. And really, the hard part is a good beef gravy.

Any bars that serve good local made vodka and whiskey? Or any good distilleries in the Seattle area where one could buy some good local made vodka and whiskey?
There are a couple right on capital hill. Oola and Sun Liquor. Oola is over on Union up a couple of blocks past broadway. Not a terribly small hike but not bad. Sun Liquor is right on pike a few blocks up the hill. I've not had the chance to try them myself. I keep meaning to, but skipping it. Further afield we have more including dry fly which I think was the first distillery we had here back in 2007. Distillery is still a newish form of art in this area and I would expect the whiskey to be a bit medicore. But that, in itself, might be a fun little part of an adventure.
Anyone know of late night restaurants? Or late night/24 hour places that deliver? That information would be really handy for people in hotels that don't have cars. Maybe Quint could make a note of those (highlight or italicize or something).
Someone recommended Padrino's to me.they said that pizza place will even until 2am in the morning! Perfect for late night gaming munchies!

Dry Fly is in Spokane.
Oola has really good Gin.
Fremont Mischief is arguably the most popular craft distillery in Seattle.
Also in Seattle:
Sound Spirits
Captive Spirits
Batch 206
Letterpress Distilling
My personal favorite: Old Ballard Liquor Co. So far it's only on Facebook and isn't open yet.

Awesome. I was wondering the same thing. We came out late most night looking for open places.

In addition to the spreadsheet, I've had limited success in Seattle with eat24.com. Given your address and the time of day, they give you a bunch of restaurants that will deliver to you. They have an an app as well, but I haven't tried it yet.
One evening/afternoon you really should make the trip to Ballard for Cafe Mox/Card Kingdom, and if you can swing it... head up to Everett for the AFK Tavern. Gamer bar/restaurants... what's not to love?

I tried to use eat24 last year and the app in my own hometown and I'd say to avoid this like the plague and ask your concierge desk. The list they show you is missing so many restaurants it's not even funny. Like I looked up pizza and have a place I go to pretty often that's maybe 5 blocks from my house and they didn't show it. I'm not sure why it's so limited but I'd wager it's because you have to pay to be on it or something. So yeah I'd avoid it and ask your concierge or Google stuff
woodinvillewhiskeyco.com/ - really great whiskey, it is quite a drive from DT Seattle, 30 mins with no traffic. They have tasting tours from noon to 5PM, wed through sunday.

Yeah, Kylie's and Delfino's, but I would recommend Kylie's. On Capitol Hill next to PAX are several great by-the-slice pizza places (Hot Mama's, Pagliaccis, Big Mario's), but they are all on the New York spectrum of pizza.
cant remember the location; and im not sure if it's been mentioned, but last year after the pre-pax hookah meetup me and a few other aspiring adventurers found the Dragonfish asian cafe. Pretty good food. however; They serve TEMPURA BACON!!!!! it was amazing and fantastical.
Its in a hotel, cant remember which. But its pretty darn good quality food, and we went during happy hour so everything was like, 2-3 bucks. which was fantastic!

That being said, Cheesecake Factory is a MUST (Breakfast is a good idea).
Cheesecake Factory is just a chain like TGI Fridays and Applebees. I'd personally avoid it all costs. Rude and I've gotten sick there before. To each their own really, but it is not a worthwhile endeavor in my eyes. Better cheesecake can be had at The Confectional in Pike's Place and on Cap Hill. And since they are smaller and personal, they can be eaten on the go.
Also, since its so close to the convention center, EVERYONE goes there so its always a long wait usually any time of the day. Also its really overpriced and not that tasty

Yeah the only chain restaurants that are close to the convention center that are worthwhile are the sub joints like Jimmy John's and PF Changs. I'd take PF over cheesecake factory any day. Even though PF is a chain it at least has an element of quality to it and isn't a bad walk from the convention center. Once I found out there was PF close by, I haven't been back to cheesecake factory since.

Omg...... May just have to drag my group over there.
Nothing wrong with chain in general, imho, but when I travel somewhere, I kinda want to try a bit of what they have and find the unique interesting bits of the area. Sometimes it's nice to just go to a place you liked from home and not have to think about it. It's relieving but it seems like a waste of a good opportunity most of the time.
Has no one mentioned Rock Bottom Brewery? It's like 2 blocks from the convention center and it's usually empty and you can sit outside.
I'll have to check that out. I've been to Pyramid a few times as well and they are on the list in the OP. Is Von's (near the Roosevel Hotel still open, down past GameWorks? I loved grabbing a beer and a sandwich there last year
1st PAX was Prime 2010. Made it to several more Primes/West. Been to East and South. Headed back to West in 2019 for my 12th PAX.
Von's is no longer open. They closed down that location and opened up a gastropub called 10,000 Spirits down by the market. WHich was too bad, cause Von's had that whole "if this isn't the best prime rib you've ever had, it's free" deal, and their prime rib was fairly mediocre compared to some of the amazing steakhouses we have in the area, so it was always free :P.
Just a note for those who have cars: There's a new barcade called Highscore that opened up in Redmond. Pinball, sit down arcade games, beer taps and apparently good burgers. I'll get around to updating the spreadsheet with it at some point.
Just saw a show about renovating restaurants and Yanni's in Seattle was featured. Anyone been to this place and is it any good? I'd go there if its fairly close as I love tradtional Greek food

It's right by my house and I tried it before KN - its wasn't terrifically inspired... but you can probably find really good Greek food closer to the Con on Capitol Hill - Yanni's is not close to downtown.
